Obama deserves no credit. Bush deserves no credit. The US Navy SEALs deserve the credit.

Our foreign policy is what got us here, not because Muslims can't stand us playing video games and that we wear blue jeans.

You're right Obama doesn't deserve a damn bit of credit. Wtf was I thinking? I forgot how he and his ilk tried to undermine our military and their interrogation techniques at every chance he could when he was a senator. Not to mention all the things he and his so called justice dept. tried to do to Bush and yet they couldn't prove a damn thing.

Yes...that is what we, and common sense, are telling you. Please join us, we miss you.

You're right though, we should watch a FUCKING MOVIE, to see how photo's can be faked. ET flying that bicycle past the moon. Fake. Aladdin on the magic carpet. Also fake. Believe it or not, the shark jumping in the original Batman movie. Yup. Fake.

Great post! It's almost like the birther thing turned upside down. Some people are saying that the government is lying because we haven't seen any proof. When the proof is eventually released they are going to say it is faked. They are saying that the government is lying based on...here it comes...nothing..no proof just making it up! Keep living in your conspiracy theory world and watch a movie for tips on what's going to happen next.

BOSTON -- The death of a sister of Osama bin Laden at Massachusetts General Hospital allowed the United States to confirm bin Laden's death, ABC News reported.

When his sister died in Boston, tissue from her body was taken by government officials for DNA testing, ABC News correspondent Brian Ross reported.

A source told NewsCenter 5 that bin Laden's sister died in Boston about a year ago.

The tissue sample was used to match the DNA found on the man killed by special forces troops who conducted the raid on bin Laden's Pakistani compound.

Government officials claimed the DNA evidence provides a match with 99.9 percent confidence.

The officials did not immediately say where or how the testing was done but the test explains why President Barack Obama was confident to announce the death to the world Sunday night. Obama provided no details on the identification process.

The U.S. is believed to have collected DNA samples from bin Laden family members in the years since the 9/11 attacks that triggered the U.S.-led invasion of Afghanistan. It was unclear whether the U.S. also had fingerprints or some other means to identify the body on site.

I'm just asking this because I have no idea how DNA testing works and I'm genuinely interested to know...

Mohammed bin Laden had around 52 children with 22 wives. OBL was the only son he had with his 10th wife (some reports say he was their only child, some say he was their only son) so how likely is it that this DNA test can actually prove with "99.9%" accuracy that it is him? Surely with so many variables there has to be more than 0.1% doubt...

Everybody is talking about justice being done with osama's death. Justice for who? The people who lost their lives on 9/11. I really don't think so because terrorism still exists. More then that the ignorance and misinformation about how this terrorism started and why it exists is still at an ultimate high. The truth is majority of the blissfully ignorant aren’t really interested in the truth; they are not interested in a real solution. They are more interested in revenge or winning, because to them world politics is a like a game of football. You need to win and kick ass. Well the real world does not operate like that.
It is very easy to live in your bubble (a bubble created by fucking other countries up) and blame others. The matter of the fact is a country like Pakistan is the biggest victim of terrorism not the US. But this not a competition of who has more misery and death. But what it is is a reality check. Osama is Osama not because Muslims are barbarians who hate freedom. Osama is Osama because he has manipulated a fucked up situation in Afghanistan and Pakistan a situation created by the US in the 80s and early 90s to rile up support and brain wash the youth. What Osama started has spread like wild fire so killing Osama does not mean you won the War on Terror, and it does not mean the US of A has reigned supreme and justice is done. JUSTICE WILL BE DONE WHEN NO ONE IN THE FUTURE CAN MANIPULATE THE GRIM SITUATION OF A FAILED STATE AND BRAIN WASH YOUNG MEN INTO KILLING INNOCENT CIVILIAN. JUSTICE WILL BE DONE WHEN COUNTRIES DRIVEN BY GREED CAN’T INVADE WEAKER COUNTRIES AND KILL INNOCENT CIVILIANS IN THE NAME OF FREEDOM. That is when Justice will truly be done. But for that to happen people on both sides need to have balls to accept the truth! The truth that we are more interested in blaming each other, then finding a solution.

I hear what you are saying, although I don't agree with a lot of what you said, but there seems to be a bit of miscommunication going on with the Justice issue. When people are saying Justice, they don't mean that terrorism is forever over, or that the dead of 9/11 are smiling down from wherever. It's not so broad as that. It is simply that the guy committed a crime, and he paid for it. Justice. Think of it on a smaller scale. Guy commits murder, and gets brought to justice. Did it end murder forever? Will there never be another murder? Of course there will be, that's not the point. The point is THAT guy won't murder again, and those who were wronged (not the actual victims of course, they're dead after all, but families, etc) often feel a sense of closure with that. There are plenty of people who feel a sense of closure or justice with the death of bin Laden, and nobody is going to change their mind on that, nor should anybody really be trying to.

Personally I didn't lose anybody in 9/11 or even know anybody who was lost, so I don't feel any personal justice. But as an American I felt like Osama should pay for his crime, and he has made it clear he would never be taken alive, so I knew it would probably mean his death. Nobody is under the impression that the world is all unicorns and roses now that he is dead.

Usually when there's a debate going on, there's two opposing sides:

Now I know I've definitely found the crowd that thinks killing Osama will not end terrorism, because they keep on saying the same thing 20 different ways.

But the strange thing is, I haven't come across a single person who has claimed that terrorism has ended anywhere...

Next, are you all going to start going into long-winded lectures about how we need to support our troops? Or maybe you can tell us that the grass is green while you're at it.

    To summarize: No S*** Sherlock.

actually, watching CNN last night before Obama took to the podium, one asshole analyst said something to the effect of just that, that the war on turr was over, and we had "won". yeah, like they're all just going to go back and hide in their caves to watch All In The Family.

Can I just ask honestly how much "credit" does Obama actually deserve??

Sure he gave the order for them to get him. But it's not like it was his intelligence that found him, or him that went in there and flushed him out. Really what did he do besides sit in an office, hear a lot of reports and info and say, "go in there and get him" to me it's a much bigger collective effort and I don't see how he, or anyone person can get credit for this. And I'd be a little perplexed if his platform for getting re-elected is "I found Obama"

But yeah I know it's not Obama jumping round saying "look I got him, it was me I found him"

Obama pulling Osama out of a hat pretty much takes the soft on national security issue dems usually face in elections off the table. Obama is pretty much a shoe in. Whatever, doesn't matter who it is we are all fucked.

New episode of Chuck tonight. A character says something about Vegas' gun ranges and holds up a picture of his "dream target". Talk about good timing for a joke.

An interesting side note here. The first international warrant for OBL's arrest was issued in April 1998 following a request not by the Americans or the Europeans, but by Colonel Gaddafi of Libya.

So to blame to Pakistan is just naive and pretty stupid
Like I said before Osamas death does not do anything to stop terror. You in America might think it does but then again you live in a Bubble. You have no idea what your politician and businessmen go around doing in the world. And unless the American international policy changes, acts of terror will keep on happening and new Osamas will be get born in every generation.

    VERY well said.

It is the media, and us, that will blow this out of proportion. Should we be happy that a mass-murderer is dead? yes. is this "Mission Accomplished?" No. Ask Obama, Petraus, Gates, or Panetta, if this fight is over. It's back to business for them.

Thank goodness somebody logs in every 5 minutes to tell us stupid Americans that there is still going to be terrorism now that bin Laden is dead. One thing that some of you people should think about is what causes all your hostility towards Americans, and makes you feel like YOU and YOU alone need to tell us what we already know. I think a lot of these posts are more telling about the chips some individuals around here have on their shoulders, as valid as some of your points may be.

And let me ask you something, let's say there are some Americans who think that the world will now be a rosier place that bin Laden is dead, why is it up to you to take the piss out of them? A lot of these posts really have nothing to do with whether or not going after bin Laden was right or wrong, or anything like that, it's just seems like you're trying to make sure that Americans don't feel any sense of victory over it.

the head is off of the snake. but the war on terror goes on. some may sleep easier knowing that bin laden is dead, but in all actuality things are really no different than they were saturday as far as our foreign policy is concerned.

it was our foreign policy that started all of this back in the late 90s. and it is our current foreign policy that will continue to breed hatred in other regions of the world.
