enjoy your shows folks. would have loved to go but will need to satify myself with getting to attend R40 and taking my wife and stepson...

I love it when concerts sell behind the stage. It's epic energy when the band is wrapped in people all the way around.  Pearl Jam used to do that too, except with the new screen on Dark Matter tour.

I think I’m in the minority but I absolutely hated the screens. Added nothing and ruined that vibe of the band surrounded by fans.

I am there with you on that. I preferred the feel of the fans behind the stage.

There's definitely something, for some of these Veteran acts, where people (myself included) will pay some bucks for one last shot at seeing a legendary band. I feel like my post covid concert going years have been doing a victory lap with my favourites, and trying to see the remaining bands that tour, that I like, that I never got the chance to see.

I like Rock music, but don't listen to much past the turn of the millennium.   It's not going to be long before I don't have concerts I want to go to :(  What am I supposed to do with my disposable income then? lol.
I just turned 65 and I’m there now I don’t have any bands that are a must see these days! I’d rather walk into a pub and just listen to a random artist playing a guitar or a piano!

Im going to take a look at what is available for Toronto today. After my last trip to NYC? Well, I dont need to go back for a while. Cleveland does nothing for me. Fuck Chicago.

    Toronto here I come!
Or not, depending on prices and what's available.

Sorry Geddy, you are not getting my entertainment dollar.
I paid $500 for Mccartney tickets. I had no problem with that.
I refused to pay $500-$700 for The Who.

Im certainly not paying $800-$1000 for this version of RUSH.

The band can charge whatever they want. Go ahead and make your money. I get it.

    I have my limits though.

Im not even paying over $200 anymore. Fuck that. People suck so bad lately at shows I can’t be bothered. I’ve seen enough concerts.

Its insane to think Rush tickets are as difficult to buy as any tour

I remember buying Elton farewell tickets with nowhere near the difficulty nor cost

PJ tickets can land on platinum $900 and they'll sit there for while.

These Rush tickets disappear in seconds. $990... doesn't matter WTF

They need to add some stadiums and rear stage seats. Never thought this was possible for them

I know Geddys seen PJ over the years,  he knows how they do it!

I feel like this tour will have ticket drops at reasonable prices within five days of the show happening, like the Oasis shows in North America did.
I was reading up on prior Rush tours, they were never really selling out venues in the 2000s and arguably the most key member of the band not there.  I think there are a lot of Ticketmaster shenanigans creating false scarcity and to maximize top-dollar tickets.

    I agree 100%

Today was pure nonsense from ticketmaster.

I was #4000 in the queue for a Chicago show.
Yet when it was my turn? Nothing was available? Pure horseshit.

Ticketmaster has almost a year to play their games with these tickets.

They weren't selling out venues because they toured pretty consistently and, at least toward the end, their ticket prices were pretty high relative to the market. I love them but skipped shows for that reason. It was easy to take them for granted.

Oasis is an interesting comp because they are an even more dramatic version of what you're describing with Rush. A long absence, doubts they'll ever tour again, and limiting the amount of cities/shows will drive demand. I'm sure there will be ticket drops close to the shows but can't imagine how much cheaper they'll be.

Rush was always a difficult ticket in NY.

What made it an easy ticket elsewhere is Rush always toured extensively. They’d hit NY up to five times on a single tour. How many years do we have to go back to get to five cumulative PJ shows here total? Rush played here multiple shows Every tour.

Compare that to PJ, who are now a similar age to when Rush retired, although they did start a few years older. Rush had more than double the amount of total shows in their career.

To get to PJs fifth previous NYC show, how far back do we need to go, 2016?

I had a very low number and I was in the ticket window in three minutes and all that was left was vip, travel packs and platinum for NY. 3 freaking minutes into an on sale.

Yes TM is up to their usual tricks but fans are driving these prices. Last night they dropped about four rows of $950 platinum, and they’re about half gone. They are selling when much lower prices are available on broker sites. These are fans buying. Smart? No. Always better to wait at these prices.

A bunch more local shows added to extend the tour. Would love to see them but I am not touching a ticket for at least 8 months before all these shenanigans settle out

So they sell out travel packs and insanely priced VIPs and platinums and the next day they convert this from a residency type tour into a normal city tour.

In doing so they drive up prices in my home city and limit options because they cast so much dye with their original announcements. Everyone set plans in NY and it’s already so expensive it’s difficult to now change. They could have easily announced a couple more cities two weeks ago with the original tour expansion. Such a bad move here.
