its not only fans holding tickets hundreds and thousands of miles and Ks from their homes. The majority of good seats at msg were tied to those very expensive travel packs. So many of the best seats were not realistically available to local fans.

This smells bad on so many levels. Sure we can rightly blame TM, but converting the nature of the tour the second the travel packs and VIPs sell out? That’s the band responsibility

Waiting until the day of the show to get tickets seems to be the best move these days.....lots of bargains to be had!

The whole thing is the band's responsibility ultimately. Lots of bands including one we all know and love like to blame Live Nation and Ticketmaster for the current state of concert ticket pricing and things like Platinum etc. TM/Live Nation is a convenient boogeyman for bands to try and hide behind. But Robert Smith pulled open that curtain last year for all to see. Nothing happens without the artist signing off on it.

I completely understand the need for mechanisms like platinum pricing. Without it, concerts have maximum prices, which draw in more scalpers which will drive up prices for in demand shows.

But what Rush did here is bad. Created scarcity and fomo with repeated communications and releasing of tour dates that this is a limited city tour. As soon as all the VIPs and travel packs sell out, boom it’s a 24 city tour. I was a Rush fan 12 years before PJ existed, and this is a huge bummer.

These guys always did right by their fans for 40 years. Now this.

Yeah, this is from their announcement post on Instagram. At best it's incredibly misleading to actually call out 7 cities when you have (at least) 17 more in the chamber.

It's a repeat of Springsteen who always had fair ticket prices until he decided to allow the dynamic pricing shenanigans starting in 2022. The former "man of the people" gave in to the machine and greed. Seems Geddy & Lerxst have followed suit. Wonder if Peart would have been on board with it.

Seems like it could've been. They’re eleven years out of practice and committing themselves at 73 yo to a massive run of shows over 6 months

they haven’t done this many shows in a year since 2007.

54 is a far cry from 73.

Good news is that I was able to sell our Toronto tickets and recoup what we paid. Vancouver tickets were cheaper, so the difference was enough to cover the hotel for the night we're in Vancouver.

The only real major drawback is I think TM changed their policy and they don't pay out the funds until 7 days after the event. That's over a year from now.... grrrr.

ok, maybe not a year, I was thinking of the Vancouver tickets, but still 10 months for TM to get to sit on that cash without paying interest. grrrr.

Still, super stoked they're playing Vancouver and it's in December when hotels are cheap. Saves a huge chunk of change to go.
