Myra and I were just having a bit of a Cropduster session. Incredible how they can get so many different emotions coming out of different performances of the same song - I just listened to four versions, and one was kinda questioning, one comforting, one aggressive, and one kind of twisted!

I also liked the Phoenix version of Cropduster a lot - along with myra - she's got good ears!!

    8-)

Nicely put, I couldn't pinpoint what was different among those versions, just, you know 'something's different in the mood'

I'm not bothered with the version we have now, but I'm no Cropduster specialist and if it needs changing, yeah, I'll go with Pheonix. Liked that one !!

Actually, when I listened through today I enjoyed the current Cropduster a lot - so I don't know yet.....

The song I am having problems with currently though is Can't Keep - since I've switched to my mp3 player rather than speakers - all the other songs sound fine in the main, but on Can't Keep the solo guitar is going right through me - it is screeching so much, that it is almost making the song unlistenable.

I don't know if this is just me, I could try a different player - but sometimes the mp3 player with headphones gives a very different version of the song. Currently though, this song is giving me a headache! :(

Oh shit, that sucks. Didn't notice anything, but was listening through my car speakers, so ...

I'm running through the bonus section on headphones at the moment, but I'll try Can't keep next. Down really really needs to go. It's totally off-mood, I even had to skip it :o .

I won't back down still makes me cringe. And we need another Help Help. And I'd like to check on Get right too. Do we need to check on I am mine too ? Is that it ?

You are is great, a bit closer to the demo version even !! And I really like this Bu$hleaguer too, it almost has a slight Doors feeling to it somehow.

Do we need to change the bonus tracklist order ? I felt it built up nicely has it is. Have you tried a different order ?

    I guess we're not done ....

I reckon we had alternative suggestions for those three.
Yet it was Phoenix for both Cropduster and I won't back down if I'm not mistaken. And we don't want that, do we ?
About Help help, I think it was Adelaide that had been suggested earlier on. But I might take this opportunity to listen to all of them again. Just to make sure, of course.

Oh, and we have Adelaide already.
So now I need to listen to Help Help again.

    I guess we're not done ....

It's probably just me and my devices - if nobody else is picking anything up. I can try on my ipod, but don't have it with me currently.

The bonus order was fine- I was just speculating really.... I haven't tried a different order, but thought it might work with the speech coming somewhere in the middle.

I have a really dubious internet connection currently - keep getting cut off. Will see how I fare - am not at home tonight. Normal service will be resumed soon ;)

Seeing as myra and I had a stab at alternative Cropdusters last night - I think we should go with the Phoenix we favoured and see how that sounds 8-) - the others.... hmmm.... If I can manage to stream anything I will be able to contribute, but otherwise, not very easily

So do we have three options?

Keep both Phoenix versions and damn the consequences ;)
Find another Cropduster, or stick with current
    Find another won't back down

And ... nope. A bit better, but not there yet.

Given we both agreed on this one, I don't think we should jeopardize that ;)

So, hmmm, how about this ?

    2. Really ? You mean I unawarely tried to shun your highlight of the entire collection ? And you'd let me do that ?
    3. I knew we had to hold on to the one thing we agreed on
    4. Was tempted to say 'I won't back down' but, ahem, I shall surrender.

It's quite hard doing these projects to keep track of everything you read in progress - so I never quite clicked why you didn't like it - but then when I was thinking back to my listening through lying on my bed this morning I thought 'shit - that won't back down was most excellent! Almost brought a tear to my eye.... ;) '

Seeing as it's not a core riot act track though - I didn't think it was worth incurring the Gallic wrath over it. And I thought maybe there would be good alternative versions.

I am struggling to make any sense tonight, sorry - lousy broadband putting me in a bad mood!

Sorry I can't be much help with song selections currently

Sorry myra, I was only joking really. Do we have a good alternative for Won't Back Down?

I am completely lost now - where have we got to? Are we looking for a good Help Help, and a good I won't back down?

Actually all 3 versions of "I Won't Back Down" from the 2003 Tour are lyrically fucked up!

I think that the best out of the 3 are.....wait for it....Vancouver, British Columbia (May 30, 2003)

I won't back down : Vancouver is ok, but not to the point of changing Missoula for this one. I'm still not happy with the vocals. The only one I was happy with was Phoenix. But really, I give up on that one. Let's just keep it as it is.

Help Help : I've listened through and through, to the point where I actually felt a bit dizzy and had to stop

The thing is we don't have much choice left for that one due to the shows we used already. Apparently, at some point I wrote down that Clarkston was good, except that the end needed editing when he introduces NAIS. But now I can't even recall what it sounded like and I'm not even sure I was still making sense when I wrote that down :? .

I think I'm good to resume listening now though.

    FYI

"I Won't Back Down" has been played a total of 10 times according to the 10c, and I have all of these boots. The problem that we have is that I am pretty sure that Eddie fucks up the lyrics on all ten. It's still a good cover though and Eddie does a better job than me any day!

I am honestly indifferent to either version. We can keep our original or try Vancouver. I do not think that there is much of a difference.

    8-)

I can offer Executive support and cheerleading from the sidelines currently - but no listening until tomorrow night I fear

Help Help from Michigan sounds good, and I can cut the intro of NAIS off so we are good. :D I shall be added to Version 1 ;)

    FYI

"I Won't Back Down" has been played a total of 10 times according to the 10c, and I have all of these boots. The problem that we have is that I am pretty sure that Eddie fucks up the lyrics on all ten.

And this song is damn hard to sing right ! Makes for a great sing-along
