LA 2 2006 The boot opens with a bang; a blistering WWS-Brain of J combo is a hell of a way to start. Ed's vocals are strong on WWS, and Mike shining early on with these 2 songs. Matt's work towards the end of BOJ is pure energy. A sprightly played Animal follows; a rocking start to the gig. After a moment’s pause, Ed greets the crowd. Marker in the Sand-Severed Hand are treats for my ears. Both Avocado songs are above average takes. Matt putting on another set of exceptional showings. Mike too seems to be putting an extra bit of groove in there. It's fitting after Matt puts on a fantastic solo in Even Flow that Ed says the next song, MFC, stands for "Matt Fucking Cameron." Somewhat ironically, Matt's subtle high hat hits early on in MFC are so slightly out of time with Ed. No biggie though. I hate to sound repetitive, but the dynamics and different drum patterns Matt plays in I Got Shit and Corduroy are damn good! Corduroy flows perfectly coming out of I Got Shit. Mike's solo in Corduroy is extra solid, a few darker sounding riffs to be found in there. Ed's vocals are quite beautiful for Daughter, and it's cool to have an I Believe in Miracles tag. Sad is a great rarity to throw in after Daughter. Sometimes a near flawless version of the rarity is hard to find, but this rendition is definitely one of the best. Mike's guitar effects, his solo, and Ed getting the lyrics correct make it a great one. Garden keeps the mid tempo flow going, nice set flow. Of course it's the reworked 2006 version, but a good take. Stone plays that brooding main riff so well. Down fits in well following the Ten classic, another solid play. After a brief "Baby Please Don't Go" intro by Ed, we leap into a rocking Go. A sweet little intro! Matt's quick high hat accents in the chorus are always welcomed. A dependable Betterman is a harsh contrast to follow. Tim Robbins comes out to help on Must Not Think Bad Thoughts. Fans will be split on this, but I rather enjoy it. It sounds weird, imperfect, abstract, and oddly enjoyable. A magnificent Porch ends the great main set. Mike's chugging riffs create an arresting vibe. Stone's beautiful riff coming out of the jam is just spectacular too. Ed's scream coming into the final chorus is an epic way to close the song and set.
The first encore begins with a decent Man of the Hour, a wrong line or two from Ed but nothing too distracting. Off He Goes is quite good, Mike in particular. A full reverse Mamasan Trilogy begins with a gorgeous Footsteps. Jeff's bass and Ed's vocals sound rich and warm. Once is solid, Matt absolutely killing it towards the end with lots of fills. An energetic Alive ends the encore. Jeff again sounding extra ear pleasing and smooth.
Ed puts in a plug for Surf Rider's good cause, and then Big Wave gets the final encore going that's full of fast numbers. It's a rocking version, Mike and Stone standing out nicely. Another Avocado scorcher follows, Comatose. It too finds Mike firing on all cylinders. SOLAT keeps the energy sky-high, a very fast tempo version. Matt adding in extra dynamic hits and different accents. Leash is a nice surprise, a tight play on the Vs. rarity. It's RITFW that then ends the gig. That's a blistering encore!
A vastly underrated 2006 bootleg with a hard rocking setlist that's performed very well. The last encore is a scorcher! It is an all-around tight, no nonsense boot. Enjoyed this one a lot, always have.

Oceans opens up the penultimate show of the tour; it's a much better performance than in LA but Ed struggles on the high notes a fair few times. Can't Keep is excellent, as is Lowlight. Breakerfall following Corduroy is a huge surprise; first play since Berlin '12. Ed does a decent job with the fast-paced rocker - musically its awesome. Mind Your Manners & Why Go are perfect to follow and at this point it's an opening to the boot. After Ed greets the crowd, the guys throw another Binaural curve-ball with God's Dice (first play since Prague '12) and again it's good. Lightning Bolt then shows up further down the set than usual. The pace of the set is unrelenting so far. At the end of In Hiding, Ed tells the crowd 'good singing' - unfortunately you can't really hear the crowd's vocals on the boot. Setting Forth evolves into Not For You, which is again solid and with the middle part extended. The outro is awesome and Ed throws in a Modern Girl tag. Daughter with an It's Ok tag is spot on. The flow of the set drops a little after Infallible - Ed talking too much and then going into After Hours. It brings a lull for me. Jeremy - as it has done for most of the tour - is absolutely knocked out of the park. Gonna See My Friends to follow Jeremy is a poor choice IMO. Ed starts up Porch but quickly stops and then the guys go into a little improv before Porch closes a 21 song main set.
A first play of Soon Forget in 7 years opens the first encore. Yellow Moon is dedicated to "Uncle Neil". Thumbing My Way is a little rough around the edges. Footsteps is played for a fan from Mexico. It's a perfect take on the classic. Ed talks a little too long after Mother, something he notes. Insignificance, Given To Fly and Got Some are all solid enough takes. During the intro, both Ed and the crowd share vocals; Ed briefly messes up his chords noting "I fucked up I know...I was just listening to you". Betterman with a Save It For Later tag closes the first encore.
Go and Evolution ensure a lively start to the second encore. Black is sublime, Alive is fantastic as ever. Kick Out The Jams is a mess with Mudhoney joining in; it's more of a party play than anything. Yellow Ledbetter closes the show.
A good boot, especially that main set and the opening 10 songs or so was relentless. Unfortunately the encores didn't hold up for me the same but an enjoyable boot nonetheless.
