I would say you need to apply for band archivist. That's quite a feat. I enjoyed reading your reviews. Glad you liked the Charlotte show. That was the only show I could make last year. I was a little disappointed with the setlist but after listening to the boots they sounded good for a band that was obviously running on fumes after the marathon previous show in Charlottesville.

I am listening to DC 1998 on wax.... When Wishlist comes on it almost sounds wrong at that tempo but I have to remind myself that is the way it was originally recorded. I have been so used to hearing it sped up recently that I forget.

Why Go opens the third of the BDO shows. As with the previous 2 BDO shows, the guys come firing out with Evolution and Save You following. Getaway makes its debut on the tour and to be honest it's abit flat. Got Some is aborted a few chords in, Ed thinking they weren't playing it. They do start it up again but it's no more than an average play. Low Light is gorgeous. Setting Forth leads in Corduroy. Dissident makes it's only appearance of the tour. Sirens feels a little weak, in fact all of the LB songs played so far on this boot have felt flat to me. The rest of the main set is abit lacking in flow for with Small Town, Jeremy, Given To Fly, Wasted Reprise/Life Wasted and Betterman.

Pendulum opens the first encore, making it's only appearance of the tour. It works just as well opening an encore as it does a show IMO. Nothingman following is perfect. Go and Porch close the short first encore. The band come back for a couple more songs starting with Kick Out The jam with Mark Arm joining in on this one. Alive brings the show to a close.

Of the three shows so far, this is easily my least favourite. Nothing wrong with the performance, it's just a typical festival set and didn't really grab my attention. That's the boot at least. Without a doubt being at the show would be cool.

Found this cd in a store in New Orleans, I'm sure it's unofficial and have to wait till I get home to listen.....grrrrr. But it was from a show in 1992 Attenzione Italy. The people in record store said it is very hard to find and "rare" I negotiated the price down. Anybody know anything about this cd?

Like Gold Coast, Evolution opens proceedings. Mind Your Manners follows, slightly earlier than normal but is good. Animal third in; the guys mean business. Getaway is much better than in Melbourne sounding alot crunchier. After another dependable showing for Lightning Bolt, Ed tells the crowd that Mark Richards has put the setlist together for the show. In Hiding is up next. Even Flow is on the money as ever. Severed Hand makes it's only appearance of the tour and is very good. Before Sirens, Ed briefly talks about gun control after hearing of a shooting in Sydney. State Of Love And Trust, Unthought Known and Insignificance don't really do anything for me here. The vinyl duo of Let The Records Play and Spin The Black CIrcle are next, Ed has a couple of lyric fumbles during LTRP. Rearviewmirror closes the main set.

Footsteps opens the first encore. Chloe Dancer/Crown Of Thorns is awesome, the transition into CoT the only minor point. Ed plays Throw Your Arms Around Me solo. The band return for a good performance of Betterman; the crowd also on form. Porch closes the first encore.

Ed tells the crowd “This was feeling like a show with a bunch of people, then it felt like big show, and now it feels like a bar show. And you know, bars close...Now we could play two more songs and leave, or....we don’t want to screw it up for any other bands, artists, dancers or whatever but you would think on ‘Strayla Day’ we could play a little longer so...”. Jeremy kicks off the second encore, Ed as always asking the crowd to help with the vocals. Black and Alive are monsters. Mark Arm & Steve Turner once again join onstage for Kick Out The Jams - the 4th time in 6 shows. It's all abit tiresome to be honest. Rockin' In The Free World closes the show.

I was enjoying this one til about the Sirens mark; the final part of the main set too wayward. Chloe Dancer/Crown Of Thorns is a highlight but overall a so-so boot for me. Possibly on a level with the Melbourne one for me. Enjoyed Auckland & Gold Coast, not so much Melbourne & Sydney.

    Washington, DC 2006
A very nice Release starts us off, Ed's vocals sound confident for the most part. Matt's work on the classic opener is strong, adding appropriate dynamics. The end of the opener flows well into a near perfect take on WWS. Ed's screams are fantastic and raspy, not winded or weak. It's actually one of my top versions of the 2006 staple, great performance by all. Up next is another dependable 2006 entry, Severed Hand. Ed briefly meshes a line together but nothing that will distract at all. Corduroy picks up nicely coming out of Severed Hand; Matt and Mike putting on a forceful showing around the interlude and solo. An energetic Animal keeps the quick pace up. DTE feels just right at this point in the set. I couldn't keep still after it came on, gotta dance to that shit sometimes! Mike emphasizes the chug like riffs on this excellent take on the rocker. It's a groovy version of DTE. GTF to follow is a sweet double dose of Yield; a chance to catch one's breath too. Ed then says hello after and how they have been enjoying DC. Low Light elegantly proceeds, and it's purely sublime. Jeff's bass riff towards the end shines nicely too. Ed asked the band to go ahead and play Unemployable since he forgot to put it on the set. He picked a good spot to place it, and explains what the song means (still so relevant today). It's a quality version even though Mike misses a couple licks in the bridge, but it's not very noticeable. Grievance-Even Flow works to up the energy again, both are good plays. I Got Shit is a nice choice to come immediately after Even Flow; those haunting melodies sound magnificent here. PT follows, incredibly well put together set flow. The outro is better than average. Instead of Ed playing the subtle guitar notes to the opening intro of Betterman, Boom plays them. It's gorgeous and makes a fantastic version of the staple. Ed picks up the intro where Boom leaves off. Ed thanks the crowd for good singing and we move into Inside Job. Jeff is a bit too low in the mix in the intro for my liking, but is otherwise near perfect as a whole. Wasted Reprise-Life Wasted is pure Avocado greatness. Mike and Stone are spot on too, good stuff. Why Go makes a late main set appearance, not my favorite placement but it works. Mike and Matt are on fire during the solo. Ed begins those choppy notes to an excellent RVM right as Why Go ends; concluding the near flawless main set which I really enjoyed. Mike is exceptional all throughout RVM too.

The first encore opens with a beautiful and perfect Man of the Hour. Ed's vocals are rich. Likewise, his voice in Masters of War simply gives me chills. Mike and Matt are extra great on the Dylan cover too; adding interesting textures. Even Small Town feels livelier played than its typical dependable rendering. Come Back is a good play by all. Stone and Jeff really stand out on Alive, excellent work.

Comatose gets our final stretch going. Jeff is mixed nicely and decently upfront in this good take on Comatose. Ed's vocals held up almost perfectly for the entire gig, and Leash is awesome. Ed tells a funny made up story about Dick Cheney, for whom a quality Fuckin Up is dedicated. Ledbetter ends the gig.

One of my favorite boots from 2006, this gig has always impressed me for its tight performance from the band, intriguing setlist, and fluent set flow. The audio mix is quite excellent too. All around, Washington DC 06 is a fantastic bootleg.

Why Go opens the penultimate BDO show. The guys rip through Evolution and Corduroy. The Lightning Bolt/Mind Your Manners combo is back. Blood then makes an early surprise appearance. Small Town & Got Some to follow doesn't work and the set loses further flow with My Fathers Son - possibly one of the better plays of the song but they still haven't nailed it live - and Mike playing Eruption. The outro of Sirens is slightly different than normal and overall its a decent showing of the song. Daughter to follow is an excellent choice and hopefully the flow of the set will now pick up. The guitar change into the It's Ok tag is very very subtle and good. Given To Fly is on form. Ed describes World Wide Suicide as being a song that "used to be about war but now feels about climate change". Once is solid and Ed says Red Mosquito is a "request of sorts". It is definitely a highlight of the set. Better Man complete with Save It For Later tag completes the main set. The last 5 or 6 songs save the main set for me.

Ed starts off the first encore with Throw Your Arms Around Me. Mother starts up whilst the last notes of TYAAM are just finishing. The pace of the encore steps up with Jeremy and Lukin and then Porch to close the encore.

Alive kicks off the second encore. Once again Mark Arm comes out for Kick Out The Jams.  Baba O'Riley follows and Yellow Ledbetter with a Little Wing tag is left to close the show.

Good start to the boot then after Blood it went seriously off the rails for a while during the middle part. Last half of main set was decent and encores (KOTJ aside) were good. Not as good as Auckland or Gold Coast but better than Melbourne & Sydney for me.
