Given To Fly opens with Ed changing the lyrics to "Made it to Italia, had a smoke in a tree". Instellar Overdrive provides an interlude before going into Corduroy, the crowd making themselves heard on the intro. The feedback intro leading into World Wide Suicide seems extended and is pretty cool, I always like hearing this. Breath makes it's only appearance on the Euro tour and is very cool. Ed then speaks Italian introducing MFC but then plays the wrong intro! Breath, MFC, Even Flow and Present Tense is a pretty good run. Porch closes the main set.
The first encore begins with Red Mosquito. Ben Harper again joins the band for this, it's the last time the song is played on the Euro tour and probably the best of three times from this tour. Couple of errors by Ed in both Just Breathe and Arms Aloft and one of the guitars sounds off during the latter part of State Of Love And Trust. Jeremy closes the first encore.
Got Some opens the second encore and is followed by Once. Black is fantastic, absolutely mesmerizing and the best version of the tour after Berlin. Public Image is next and a complete contrast to Black; however I'm slowly warming to the song. Alive and Rockin' In The Free World close the show.
Some good moments, that run of Breath, MFC, Even Flow and Present Tense in particular for me. Remember listening to this boot a couple of years back and not really enjoying it. Enjoyed it alot more this time.

yeah, Sirens was butchered. I'll cut them some slack for Getaway though, since it was the first time live. I thought lightning bolt was pretty freakin fantastic.

Evolution opening the penultimate show of the Euro tour. Crowd are on form straightaway, can hear them singing away especially on "It's Evolution Baby!". Corduroy, Hail Hail and Why Go complete a high tempo start; Hail Hail making it's only appearance on the tour. Dissident makes a fairly rare appearance and Small Town completes a Vs back-to-back, both sounding good and Ed counting the Small Town intro in Spanish. Following Unthought Known and Even Flow, there is some banter between Ed and Mike over what guitar was playing during Even Flow. Ed goes on to talk about Paul Weller and then Joe Strummer before going into Arms Aloft. Ed's voice sounds completely shot during the early stages of Comatose and a particularly blistering Porch closes the main set.
Got Some and Amongst The Waves start the first encore and I quite enjoyed ATW at this point in a set. Rearviewmirror closes the encore. The second encore begins with a heartwarming version of Just Breathe. Ed then gets a guy from the crowd up onstage to sing on the next song. The guy, Daniel, does a sterling job singing the first verse of Daughter before Ed takes over. There is no tag on Daughter. Alive is the final song of the night and like the majority of the festival shows this tour is a short gig again but it's a pretty good one.

Final stop on the Euro '10 tour and it's Release to open (first appearance on the tour too). Unusually, Small Town follows and then Why Go gets the tempo rising. The intro of Given To Fly is ruined by the guitar not being quite in tune, eventually Mike gets it right. Another Yield number follows; In Hiding. The only blot is Ed missing some lyrics midway through but its still great to hear this song live. During Nothingman and Daughter, Jeff's standup bass sounds fantastic. The songs themselves are good moments but the bass is a highlight. After Even Flow, the tempo is more chilled out with Just Breathe, Wishlist and Black. The crowd singing on Just Breathe is incredible, at times Ed's voice is nearly drowned out. Following Black, Glorified G makes it's only appearance on the tour. If Stone provides the groove for Glorified G, Jeff's bass provides the funk for Why Go. Both songs provide a good ending to a decent main set.
At the beginning of the first encore, Ed tells the crowd over the last 10 years the band either start or end their European tours in Portugal and he thinks they are the 'best singing crowd maybe even on the Planet'. The End starts the encore off and afterwards tells the crowd the band doesn't know the next song and he barely does but the crowd should and it was started 11 or so years ago. He then goes into an improv called 'Portugal Portugal'. It's a mixed encore with Public Image and The Fixer next and Betterman ends the encore; after the crowd sing the first part, Ed says "can't find a better crowd".
The second encore begins with Smile making it's only appearance on the tour. It's a good version, though I do wish they extend the outro live like on the album version. Once and Alive provide two parts of The Mamasan Trilogy. Yellow Ledbetter brings to an end a good show.

Also, has anyone else listened to the 2011 Canadian tour recently? Toronto 9/11/11 RVM around the 3 minute mark, that riff sounds vaguely familiar. It sounds like part of Lightning Bolt. Anyone else hear it too?
The show kicks off in bright fashion with Oceans, and Jeff's bass and Matt's drums sound profound. The energy gets pounding next with Breakerfall, which is always welcomed early on in any set and it's a brutal combo following Oceans to start a show. Also the only time it's played in 2012. We can tell early on that Ed's voice is a little off and he's struggling a tad from the show the night before with some early cracks, pops, and shrieks - but he does recover a little later on. It doesn't let up with Animal and Save You played one right after another like rapid fire, with a strong version of In Hiding to follow - certainly a lot of energy to get things going and a great sequence of opening 5 songs to start the show. Another more "self reflective" song is next with Elderly Woman to keep the crowd's singing voices in good shape after In Hiding, and then Corduroy follows to bring the tempo back up - which is always a great combination and almost makes it feel like the show is starting over again. Before Corduroy, they play a kind of cool improvised jam that sounds good going into the intro to Corduroy, almost sounding like an Interstellar Overdrive prelude. A nice Amongst The Waves is next followed by a more bluesy than usual Even Flow thanks to Stone and Mike. The Mike McCready tribute continues with the Eruption solo played for the first time ever. It's a fantastic interlude into the guitar intro to Sad which is played next, which makes its only appearance of 2012. Not For You followed by Present Tense and Mike butchers the intro to the song and they have to start over. Down then makes a nice appearance and one that I always welcome in any set. Ed talks about the local Ramones museum in Berlin and naturally plays Come Back dedicated to Johnny Ramone. It's a very strong version of the song and it's always a song that gives me goose bumps when I hear it, and it also offers a nice break up between the up-tempo songs played before and after it in the set. Hail Hail and Go provide a nice combo to close out a fantastic main set. Love the way the main set flows and is essentially very tight. A very well orchestrated main set by Ed.
The first encore begins with a beautiful version of Mother, which Ed has a very slight timing issues early on that is barely noticeable. A strong performance nonetheless, and is followed by the staple first encore Just Breathe. The mellow acoustic continues with a beautifully warm version of Nothingman. Ed's voice sounds really good and soars here on these first slow songs in the encore. The double dose of the "man" sequence continues with Better Man, which Ed doesn't completely let the crowd take any of the first two verses of the song and sings it himself, which is unique and doesn't happen often. Also no tag on here on Better Man, which is rather unique. Boom gets a nice introduction and Ed gives a warm speech about this being their 999th show and being hard to believe, and how much they have enjoyed playing in Berlin over the span of their career before going into Wasted Reprise. No surprise that Life Wasted is next, and is a very enjoyable version featuring some crunch on the guitars and more crisp drums from Matt, as well as a more extended guitar solo throughout the jam session at the end of the song. As always, Porch brings a great encore to a close in stellar fashion.
Blood makes a welcomed appearance opening the second encore in grand fashion, and Ed's vocals continue to be strong this late in the show. The standard Alive - Baba - Ledbetter trio closes out another good show in Berlin, with Ed introducing Mike as Mikey Van Halen and "this is how we say good night, until we meet again."
Yet another solid show in Berlin, which always seems to be the case for PJ. A very good two-night show there where they always bring their A game. I would probably rank this one just a tad lower than the Berlin 1 boot, but not by much. I thought the set was a little more cohesive for the first night, and just a tad tighter. Still an extremely tight performance by the band all around. and another high energy show with a great flowing set list. Definitely a recommended boot and one that is going to be flirting with my top 5 boots of 2012 when it's all said and done.
