I'm not surprised they cancelled, but that's pretty uncool it happened at such notice.   I'm guessing there's legalities involved with cancelling when you're physically able to perform the show.  That probably delayed the announcement, but that sucks if your a Foo Fighters fan who already setup travel and accommodation to go.
How do we know that they're physically able to perform the show?

Obviously depends on the individuals involved and how the relationship worked and every case and relationship is unique etc

I still do some occasional book scouting for our used bookstore in town, and today I found a few things that I picked up to sell to them (something you have to do because you love it, not for good money, because a person could make way more money working at a Burger King).  One of the books I found is a very nice used hardback copy of Dave Grohl's The Storyteller

Grohl seems like a nice guy and very respectable, but not being a huge Nirvana/Foos/Grohl fan, I figured I'd get a few bucks for it at the store.  But then I sort of glanced through it and thought I might actually like reading it.  So I'm curious what anyone of you that read it think.  Is it something a very casual fan would enjoy, or is this one for hard-core fans only?

    Thanks!

I'm am casual fan and enjoyed it. I listened to the audiobook. Dave is my age. I found it fascinating that he mentioned films and bands that I also liked at that age but had almost forgotten.

We listened to the audio book because he narrates it himself.   We had a bit road trip about a year and half ago to drive up to Haida Gwaii (Islands just off the North West Coast of BC, not too far before where the Alaskan Islands start).   We needed something to pass the time for the drive to the Prince Rupert Ferry.   It was great.   We have the Bono one saved for the next time we do an epic long road trip.

  • Wonder if they are doing any shows this year. Seemed like 2024 was supposed to be a bigger tour with all the Rumours & billboards that appeared in cities that didn’t get a show like Edmonton.

Yah, if you're trying to save your marriage and family, heading out one the road, and spending months and months away from home, probably isn't going to help.

Funny. I read marital 'person' with.my blurry vision. Still feel bad for them all. Always kind of looked up to DG as someone who wouldn't do that. Oh well I was wrong. My mistake.

With the 3 hits he took in a very short time, I think it could be at least 5 years or more before we see a tour again. But who knows, I obviously don’t kniw the man. Just a feeling.

Were the Queens lineup not so stable I could imagine him playing drums for them. Or the TCV thing. The Nirvana stuff reinforces to me that he's keen on getting out there but doesn't want the front man limelight. Jeepers what a skill to have. Shelve your day job as a front man to do what you're best at and play drums.

Vultures I fear won't get a second go though as Josh got sick and he needs to make up the tour dates. Jones might not be up to touring again other than a residency or one off.

Hell a TCV residency at the Sphere would be something.

Most musician's seem to struggle with the road life.  Spending months away from home and family.  Dave seems to an outlier :)   Foo Fighters always toured pretty heavy, and lots of side projects.  He's probably one of those people not great at staying still.  Or it's the only life he's ever known, and it's normal to him.
