I don't think much can be done yet, except hopefully more checks on uncontrolled spending. We should see more results like yesterday in 2012 and then demands can be made for changes.

other than the sour grapes, I agree with you. It is now up to the GOP in the house to solve the issues of the day. They need to not only compromise with democrats and achieve reasonable legislation that will improve the economy, put more money into the private sector, and stop wasteful spending. If those things don't happen, expect more career politicians to lose their seats in primaries two years from now.
If they haven't done anything and they haven't improved anything than they need to be held accountable. And you are right, it is time to own the problems and fix them, not blame the past for the situation that is before the american people.
This is EXACTLY how I like my federal government, full of checks and balances so nothing can get done...so much better than a one party majority in ever chamber.

Yes, it is, especially since they are the cause of most of them, something that seems to have been conveniently forgotten.

But... "Compromise"? "Reasonable"?! Republicans?! Dream on. Get ready for two years of spiteful obstructionism and a return to the politics of disinformation and fearmongering.

i am waiting to see how the new house is going to try to cut unemployment benefits and dismiss it as "an entitlement program" while there are no jobs being created and the unemployment rate stays the same or increases...nothing like unemployed voters cutting off their own heads...

i think i am just going to sit back and watch the spectacle as no meaningful legislation gets passed for the next 2 years.. where is my popcorn?

clearly you are angry, who's fault do you think it is that the democrats lost as many seats as they did?

here is how I see it, when you run on a platform that at its most basic says "chicken in every pot paid for by the rich" people get angry. They get angry that you want to take from them to give to someone else, and they get angry when the chicken doesn't show up...and we are an impatient bunch here. Right or wrong, it is the dems fault they are in this spot. Pushing blame never works. If they take ownership and are upfront with the American people I think they probably would have been fine through this mid term, they only have themselves to blame for horrible strategy. They will get it figured out though, I am sure that the 2012 elections won't be nearly as damaging, like I said...we are an impatient bunch.

if nothing get's done that will be the least of our worries, it's what can be added to the melting pot of problems we already have that are a bigger concern, I'm just hoping for the best right now....btw for the most part I voted lib.

I think you make some really good points, however I don't think it can be placed firmly on the dems laps. In one sense Obama has been criticized for promising too much too soon, have the Republicans / Tea Party not also been guilty of this.

Also, there has been an incredible smear campaign, much of which has been about his person rather than his policies, raging since your President took office, the like of which I believe is unprecedented. I mean, where is the evidence of Marxist policies (for that matter, what do you believe this term even means?)? 'Take our country back', I'm sorry but most international observers are still trying to decipher, what from? Medical insurance for those who cannot afford it, come on, is that really something you (tea party / repuclicans) can be against, has the 'land of the free' really become the land of 'go fuck yourself'? When did it turn so nasty? What is it about Obama that these people are so afraid of?, like Holy shit sticks, some of those Tea Party candadites were feckin scary, please America, pull yourselves back from the brink.

Another thing, how does Glenn Beck have such an audiance? The guy is an out and out hate monger, why isn't his crap called more often, why has he never had to answer for the crap he spews, for a society to allow that to go on to the degree it has unfortunatly speaks volumes about the audiance it's aimed at.

Please stop electing officials on the basis that they come across as someone you could have a drink with, I don't want the town drunk to be running the show - and yes yes I do realise the irony of that statement coming from an Irish man, but if anything we're the one's speaking from experience so we can say.

In closing - America needs to grow the fuck up and realise that not everything in live is like a McDonald's drive through, some things take time, and that saying no to someone soley on the basis of not liking them is petty and childish and gets nothing sorted.

Liberal / progressive - these are not bad words, shit the term progress is actual spelled out in the second one.
Education does not make someone an elite, like when in God's holy devine name did education become something of scorn.

You took in our starving and our needy, you have sent aid to those impoverished by natural disasters, you put a man on the fucking moon for godsake, you are capable of so much better than this.

Now usually when I rant off like this I do take a bit of shit about being Irish, so I'm going to pre empt it, yes I know that my countries government are a pile of crooks who have destroyed the place, I do drink, and yes I know the country is bankrupt - I'm only offering an opinion, choose to accept it or not. Kind of went off in a whole lot of different directions there but sure what the hell.

    Sore losers, anyone?

See now that's exactly what I'm talking about. You have no idea how anyone voted, yet you presume you won!! You do realise that it is not a football game that you are reffering to, just because someone has a differing opinion to your own doesn not encamp them on the losing side.

Many people vote on policies rather than parties, so your statement there seems even more silly, as if you see yourself as having won because Republican / Tea Party candidates were elected then maybe your country is doomed. I'd vote for the Big Bird if he had policies I agreed with, I couldnt give a fiddlers feck what party he's a part of.

Debate is a good thing my friend, it's healthy, however if that is the best you can bring to the party then I do feel that the point of politics has been lost on you.

Go forth young one and baske in your victory, you have a saved your country from tyranny, you have taken back your country, now gather what you need so that you may restore those founding principles.

    Godspeed
