Owls pulled out the trap game vs. GW. It was pretty damn ugly for 35 minutes, down 9 with 5 to go. Finally one of GW's good players fouled out and Moore & Wyatt took over. They actually took the lead with 2 minutes to go and padded it from there. Place was rocking, even if half full.

Never should've been in that situation to start with, but it was a gutsy comeback; this team knows what to do at the end of games. 8-)

Xavier at 9pm Saturday probably for the A-10 reg season title - here we go!

9pm on a saturday night in north philly...bring out the kevlar vest :D
and still like 5 games after saturday...wouldn't call it for the title just yet. St. Louis and Umass still have only 3 losses although i suspect the Hawks are going to take out Umass on saturday night at Hagan. last night st. louis just schooled the hawks. got a good shot on pretty much every possession. majerus is a freakin nut job but the guy can flat out coach.

    Keep living on those stereotypes.

Xavier & Temple have been the cream of the A-10 for a couple years, and this year isn't any different. X's rough start and this game being at the Apollo this year are openings for the Owls to take it.

it's not a stereotype but reality. do you watch and/or read the news and see what's going on in the city? no matter how many bright lights are on Broad Street it's still north philly. how many stories have there been in the past year of temple students being robbed in off-campus housing?

no doubt Temple and X are the top programs in the A10 but St. Louis is pretty good and only has 3 losses. they are an NCAA team and will be right there until the end.

The news. The game is ON campus. What does off-campus have to do with it? Crime at Penn generally outpaces crime at Temple.

well i imagine that 90% of crowd comes from off campus do they not? and every time i've been to the Liacouras center I've parked in the garage which takes you down side streets...in north philly.

Some douchebag robbed 2 houses on my street in cushy Havertown - shit happens everywhere. My neighbor, who was robbed, his son was talking about a Crowne Vic and thugs from North Philly; turns out it was his friend who knew his parents would be out for dinner.

I like where this is going. You want to talk about neighborhoods, how about LaSalle's? Our Fraternity house was constantly getting robbed right near the old Germantown Hospital. A cop was shot a few hundred feet from our house and kids were mugged all the time. It seems a little better now.

Owls put the beatdown on Tu & Xavier last night. :D:D:D

Couple trap games at St Bona & vs. Duquesne before the fun week at SJU & LaSalle. We should run the rest of the the A-10 schedule and get the #1 seed.

Owls #26/#27 in polls, out of 25. Right behind Wichita St, who we beat in November, in both. :? Whatever, they don't mean anything.

LaSalle is sinking. Galloway is struggling with his shot and turnovers. Duren needs to step up and take over the team.

temple should be ranked but most likely will be next week. they are definitely one of the top 25 teams in this country with Eric looking healthly again. Hell i think they'd be 2nd in the Big East this year. Not impressed with those teams at all.

Hawks have 3 very winnable games coming up (at rhody tomorrow, at gw saturday, richhmond home next wed.) before the Owls come into Hagan that saturday night. If Hawks can win next 3 can put themselves into a postion to make some noise with last two being temple and at st. bonnies. hoping to sneak into top 4 for a bye in the A10 tourny. opening A10 loss to Charlotte is haunting the Hawks.

Four mid-major teams with the moxie to pull a VCU or a Butler
    1. Wichita State: The Shockers may be the top mid-major team in the nation. Wichita State features four senior starters -- including 7-footer Garrett Stutz -- and each of its top seven players can score. The Shockers are every bit as good -- if not better -- than last season's VCU team.

    2. Temple: Fran Dunphy's squad -- which gets a combined 35.5 points from Ramone Moore and Khalif Wyatt -- is getting hot at just the right time. The Owls have won eight straight and defeated Duke earlier this season.

    3. Murray State: The Racers opened the season with 23 straight victories before Tennessee State beat them last week. Point guard Isaiah Canaan is an All-America candidate and will make Murray State a tough out.

    4. Long Beach State: Other than Kentucky, the 49ers are deep and athletic enough to beat any team in the country when things are clicking. And they know it, too.

    8-)
