except finding a high level replacement for a college hoops coach is much easier than an NFL coach.

and andy hasn't had 2 of the worst seasons in franchise history like Phil did the past two seasons. phil's past 2 seasons was the 2nd lowest winning % over a 2-year period since like 1950. and the worse was Jim Boyle's last 2 seasons in 1989-1990 and he was forced out.

why people think it's so hard to find a coach who can average more than 8-9 wins a year is pretty weird to me. seems like you have to hit absolute rock bottom to get fired in this town.

Why? Other teams seem to find good coaches all the time. Sorry to bring this argument into the awesome Big 5 thread - I'm done.

Yup - thanks for moving it over there.

I'm more excited about the Owls right now than I've been all year - I think this team can really put a run together. Just keeping shaping up that resume. 8-)

1st place LaSalle...hard to believe Harry. hopefully Hawks can knock them off their perch on saturday although after last 2 saturdays in the city don't have a lot of faith. should be a fun uptempo game though. wish we could still do the streamers. that was so cool, especially as a kid.

i have no idea how temple got smoked by that team. they didn't look very good to me. hawks looked much better with much more energy than they've had in a while. LaSalle game could be a nice win if they can get it. would put the hawks back in the race for the top 4. standings in A10 are crazy bunched up.

It's one of those things - Owls have a tough time with the Spiders. I think they shot the lights out for a while in that game and Temple just couldn't catch up.

Couple weeks and Temple will open up those standings. ;)

Think it's a rotation to ensure each team has 2 home & 2 away in the city series - they probably work around Nova & Penn since they play everybody just once.

Ok, maybe not so much. Temple is only 2-0 so far - beat Penn at Palestra and Nova at Apollo. Remaining Big 5 games AT SJU and AT Lasalle. :?

good win for the Hawks today. played hard for 40 minutes which has been missing. This was the team we saw in december and not january. Actually thought Hawks played pretty good D throughout. LaSalle just a darn good 3-point shooting team. Fun day at the old barn. Puts Hawks back up closer to the top. Got St. Louis and Umass at home for the next 2. If can get those two season could be back on track.

Damn LaSalle! I was surprised we were in it in the end after watching missed layup after missed layup. 27% from 2pt range and over 40% from 3pt  I don't know his name but #21 and foul trouble killed us as well. They confiscated my streamers walking in. ;)

LaSalle was 6-7 from 3 in the 1st half and something like 3-20 from 2 in the 1st half. 3s were the only reason you were in the game early. Pettis' last 3 was a terrible shot. guys never pass the ball in the situation and almost everytime if you pass the ball in a scramble situation like that someone will get an open look. drives me crazy watching guys dribble up and fire a shot away like that...well except that one.

and #21 is Halil Kanacevic for the Hawks. Sophomore transfer from Hofstra. 15 rebounds but at least 4 off his own misses. strange stat for hawks is that Kanacevic leads the team in assists. he is great on alley oops to aiken and roberts.
