Utah beats Orlando by 10. Yes! Would love to see Sloan and Co. go 4-0 on this roadtrip.

Thank you for your intelligent observation.

Sloan and Pop both are constantly overshadowed by Jackson, Rivers, and Van Gundy.

I'd also like to through in Scott Brooks as being one of the better rising coaches in the league. He's done some amazing work with OKC.

I cannot believe Sloan has never won a Coach Of The Year award. That's asinine.

awards are definitely biased towards championship teams ... pretty sad when a sam mitchell who isn't even coaching anymore has one of those awards and Jerry Sloan doesn't ...

the one thing that helps Sloan and Pop tho are continuity ... they've got guys who are veterans of their systems ... Al Jefferson is new and hence why he hasn't really put up the numbers we are used to ...

You're absolutely right. As far as Big Al goes though, he's got major potential...he just needs to find his role, and figure out and learn the system of Sloan's offense. It's happened to a lot of players, hell CJ Miles is just now getting some productivity.

Millsap is possibly entering his high point to. He's going to be the Jazz man to watch for a while now. If he can keep putting up numbers like he has been to make a season average, and carry it on. During the summer, people were asking him how he feels about being in the shadow of Malone, and he said "I'm not in anyone's shadow, I'm my own player." He's certainly been showing that.

i definintely have a soft spot for Milsap ... i drafted him last year on my championship fantasy team and was frustrated he wasn't getting the minutes he deserved ... then after some injuries and such - Jerry finally woke up and played him some more minutes ...

he's got great hands around the basket ... underrated no more i don't think ...

the only place van gundy over shadows anyone is in the buffet line.

Jackson should over shadow people. 11 rings is just crazy.

While Phil is definitely going to be a hall of famer without any challenges because of his skill and talent as a coach, he has been blessed his entire career with some of the biggest names in NBA history, along with fantastic supporting casts (Kukoc, Horry, Kerr, Fox, Fisher).

Phil's credentials are just as much owed to him as they are to the players he's guided.

ya ... wanted him back bad but when you win a championship - every guy on your team is gonna be picked early ...

i think veteran teams that can play on the road can sweep those two teams ... teams like the spurs and lakers ... even boston ...

I agree, those teams could potentially do it too. I wouldn't cut Dallas short of it either. They've always been a strong road team. Miami is definitely going to be a big team this year...but it's already clear that they have some obvious flaws and gaps in their structure...the main one beign Bosh.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say it, but if NY could find a steady rhythm, and play with some intimidation, they could be a big contender in the east. Their performance against Chicago not too long ago was exquisite.

I won't hold my breath, but NY might be worth watching out for. They've got some gunners, they just need to be consistent.

I have a strong feeling this is going to be the year that Millsap begins to get recognized throughout the entire league. Shit, he has a good chance at being an all-star this year.

knicks turn the ball over too many times ... felton can't run the pick and roll with amare ... and they can't make stops against quality teams ... and they have no centre ...

NY could make the playoffs. they woudl be in that 6-8 seed range if they do. i don't see them winning more than a game in the playoffs agaist a top opponent.

plus ... the east are littered with horrible teams ... the team i think is on the rise are the bucks ... assuming bogut stays healthy and jennings doesn't hog the ball too much ... they can move up in class ...

they are in that 6-8 range as well unless they some how find a way to over take the Bulls in the central. i don't see it happening. in my biased opinion, the bulls are the class of the central. bucks 2nd. cleveland might be 3rd. they are starting off strong.

It's obviously very early and the East is filled with garbage and mediocrity, but from watching a few of the eight Knick games, the Knicks are lost when teams take away the pick-and-roll by sealing the lane, forcing 31 three-pointers many of the ill-advised variety. It was nice that Stoudemire can score 30 but doing so on the block in a isolation 1-on-1 play is not a winning formula.

I have a hard team picking against the Celtics, especially the way Rondo has begun the season.

Celtics season all boils down to one thing, and that is injuries.

they will play solid D and run a decent O. play a bunch of low scoring games. win 55-60 games.

but they play in a pretty weak division. they could sneak into the playoffs. they won't make any noise if they do make it in.

Pay Riley going to come out of the tunnell and coach the second half? This is pathetic.
