Staring to come together, boys. Starting to come together.

    11 game win streak
3 straight series sweeps including two against division rivals (A's and Mariners)
    2.09 ERA during the streak
Held Seattle to 2 runs in 36 innings. Even better, Rangers have allowed only 2 runs over the last 47 innings.

If they can take two of three from the Angels this week, they would be 6 up on 2nd place.

For the first time this season, they are starting to look like last year's team. Guys having fun, offense is crushing the ball, pitching doing the job, injured guys coming back, they've cut down on the errors and generally sloppy play that dogged them the first couple of months. And I fully expect them to be active when the trade deadline approaches.

Resurrecting the thread for the post season.

I feel much better about this team this year than last year. For one thing, the offense if much improved. The pitching (even without Lee) is more solid. The young guys have playoff experience now.

That being said, it is all up to CJ Wilson tomorrow. He has to win or we may be screwed. Tampa's pitching is so tough. They can and have neutralized our offense.

I think the Rangers have an excellent chance and going back to World Series this year. We'll see.

Since September 11, when the Rangers only held a 1.5 game lead over the Angels, they have gone 14-2 and finished 10 games up.

I'm very excited about this too! I'm trying to get off work for tomorrow's game. I think we do have a better team overall with our bullpen and lineup very strong. I worry some about the starters but at least we don't have Tommie "Big Game" Hunter this year!

I think they'll be fine. They had the 3rd best ERA in the AL this year. The bullpen is the only thing I am worried about.

I am a little confident based on the fact that Tampa's pitching staff is out of order because of how they had to finish the season. So, no David Price, James Shields, etc. for the 1st game.

Tommy Hunter helped us out by beating the Angels last week! He pitched the World Series game I went to last year and lost but yeah, he was clearly the weakest link in our starting rotation.

Jesus what a rollercoaster couple of games. That douche CJ lays an egg, the offense sucks, James Shields self-destructs, the offense wakes up. Wow.

    Takeaways from yesterday:

    1. Mike Napoli is awesome. I have a man-crush on him. He has to have the most violent swing I have ever seen. You watch Josh and then Young and they are so smooth and the Nap comes up and just looks like he is Maximus trying to lop off Commodus' head. They better get him signed. He has been clutch all year. What a stupid, stupid move by the Angels to trade him to Toronto for Wells only to see Toronto trade him to Texas the next day, Wells to stink, and Nap have a career year for a division rival. Ouch.

    2. Koji Uehara cannot be trusted and I wish they had never made that trade. Apparently he never had to pitch in big games with the Orioles. I would rather have Chris Davis and Tommy Hunter back. What a fucking bust.

    3. Ron Washington changes pitchers too quickly. No way Uehara should have been in that game, script or no script. Ogando was dominating. Leave him in there until Adams/Nefti time.

    4. That had to be the most inconsistent umpire I have ever seen. The strike zone was all over the place. He totally botched that foul ball call (Murphy was out) and that sent "Big Game" James Shields over the edge. He turned red-faced and self-destructed and that was that.

    5. 1st win by a home team in the past 7 post season games between these two teams.

    6. I hate Johnny Damon. Arrogant fucking douchebag.

    7. The Rays may be the most annoying team in baseball. Everyone says they can't hit but they do just the opposite in the playoffs. Honestly, I would have rather had Boston stumble into the playoffs so we could face them.

    8. This was Friday but I have to give credit to the Rangers and to Josh Hamilton for letting the boy of that firefighter who died at the Ballpark this year throw out the first pitch. If you haven't seen that, look it up. Touching and classy move by the Rangers and a complete tear-jerker moment for anyone who loves baseball, has kids, or just likes emotional stories.

Have to admit, I am glad to have home field advantage, but the Tigers are scary. Facing Verlander twice would be scary. I would have rather faced the Yankees and their screwed up rotation. The Rangers have always had trouble with the Tigers, going 3-6 against them in the regular season.

But a lot has changed since then. Dave Bush was responsible for one of those loses. Also the Tigers played the Rangers AAA team a few times due to injuries and most of those subs aren't even on the roster anymore.

The Rangers beat Verlander 2-0 in an early season game. Alexi Ogando has beaten them three times this year.

All that goes to show once again that the regular season means nothing. I am worried about the Tigers.

And CJ Wilson isn't helping things by going 0-3 with a 6.26 ERA in the postseason.

A lot has changed with the tigers over the course of the season...the big one's are the addition of Fister and Young. I can see Verlander pitching game 1-4-7 possibly, or 1 and 5 and if a game 7 is needed, then he'll pitch out of the pen.

So, it hasn't rained here in 6 months. We are in the middle of the worst drought in our history. It has been 1000 degrees all summer long.

I hold Game 2 tickets in my hand.

The forecast is calling for a wash-out Sunday.

I know you have bigger concerns but Texas are the leaders to land Darvish. I know they have scouted him more than anyone else with Daniels even going over to watch him pitch, so that says something. I am sure the Yanks and Boston will be slightly scared off with what happend to Dice K and Igawa.

Exactly what we needed. Beat Verlander. Bullpen dominated. Cruz broke out of his slump with a homer. The defense was solid.
    Couldn't ask for much more.

That would be nice. The are itching to spend that money from the giant TV deal.

I hope people realize the Rangers are here to stay because of that thing.

That second rain delay completely saved the Rangers. They can't count on lucky shit like that every night. They may get to the World Series, but they'll choke just like they did last year. Or get dominated, depends on how you want to look at it.

Fucking rainout. And I had all the tailgating gear packed and ready to go. And it isn't even raining. They totally jumped the gun on this one.
