  • I've been going to Ranger games since I was a toddler. Arlington Staduim bleachers $4 seats after long days at Six Flags and Panchos for dinner. I saw Nolan pitch. I saw Pudge as a rookie. Took my future wife there when we were in college, now we take our kids. All of that through the dreadfull 2000s. Tonight my girls were giving me the claw and antlers, and I didn't even teach them how to do that. Today is a great GREAT day!

    Congrats to the Rangers!

although that was probably one of the worst team celebrations ever. sorry, not trying to be a dick but they were very unsure of what to do. Half the team was jumping up and down on the pitchers mound, a few guys were high-fiving on the base line and the rest were just grinning on the bench. I thought they were going to recover and then the fireworks went off and a dumb country song started blaring in the background. It totally killed all the wild jubilation that was going on.

Somebody in the Ranger's marketing department deserves a steer horn to the groin.

Kidding. I love everyone right now. I can NOT believe this!!!!!

    congrats again..rangers deserved it

    good luck

Thanks. I've never been a Yankee hater except for A rod. I always think you have to beat the best to get there and I think that happened tonight.

exactly ..to be the best you have to beat the best
like when we whipped philly last year

and its clearly evident philly didn't want to beat us for our title

so again please win it all

hopefully lee sticks it up the philles asses

enjoy the ride flagg..its fun..trust us we know more than anyone ;)

Congrats to Texas..... The better team won!

After that game 1 collapse, I thought they couldn't rebound. Especially losing at home. I was wrong.

    Good luck in the ws

Congratulations to the RANGERS who played the game without fear and defeated the defending champs. I know there was some crazy reason why I picked this team to win it all. They play as if no one out there can beat them.

    Rock on RANGERS.

hahaha - I was wondering if the Yankees were going to just back the Brinks truck up to the Rangers clubhouse after the game and tell Cliff Lee to get in and take whatever he wanted.

Thanks! See you at a show sometime.

    And so it is tomorrow.

This band of misfit toys will take the field in their first ever World Series.

Michael Young - who has been here forever, through the dark days of 2001-2003, the tease of the 2004 and the mediocrity of 2005-2008. Changing positions twice and doing his job day in and day out like the consummate professional he is.

Josh Hamilton - his story has been well-documented. From the bottom of rock bottom to the toast of the town. From the floor of his grandmother's house, ruined with addiction, to the biggest stage in the world, we are all counting on you. He has been a tremendous inspiration whether you are religious or not.

Colby Lewis - no one wanted him. The former first round pick of the Rangers, he was tossed aside years ago, bounced from team to team and made his way to Japan, convinced he would never pitch in the big leagues again. He came back on as a free agent training camp invite, the Rangers willing to at least take a look. He has done nothing this year except be a rock in the rotation, nothing except take down the Yankees twice and put this goofy, snake-bitten franchise in the World Series for the first time.

Vlad - the aging slugger who doesn't even know what a strike zone is, let go by the Angels and looking for one more shot at a title, busted up knees and all.

Nelson Cruz - Another cast off who bounced around before being picked up by Texas in a trade with the Brewers. The Rangers even tried to get rid of him but he cleared waivers and no one wanted him. Now he and his boomstick have carried this team. When no one else was hot, Cruz was the there to pick up the slack.

Benie Molina - At the tail end of his career the experience he has is invaluable to the kids that make up this team. He has seriously calmed down Neftali Feliz and provided the kind of leadership behind the plate the Rangers sorely lacked.

And then there is Ron Washington, who had his home in NO destroyed by Katrina, who became a laughing-stock with his mauling of the English language and his sometimes questionable moves, who made it even worse with the cocaine admission last before the season. But his players stuck with him. After the admission, Young stood up and told him he had Wash's back. That was it. The issue was closed and the rest of the team fell in line behind their leader.

What a crazy trip it has been over the years.

    Its time!

Well first off, give the Giants their due. They were patient and they worked the count on Lee. Not too many teams can claim they have done that successfully. They proved to be the scrappy team everyone says they are so.

With that said, you can't have 4 errors. Period. You can't hit batters. You can't make idiotic mistakes on the base path (Kinsler) and you can't completely misplay a ball in the outfield. You can't push a guy like Lincecum to the edge in the 1st inning and then let him off the hook.

Outside that I still feel good about this. Lee said he just didn't have it. He couldn't locate his fastball. I expect him to bounce back. The Rangers made a shit ton of mistakes and the Giants made them pay, like any great team would. I do not expect to see the Rangers make anywhere close to the number of mental and physical mistakes they made last night.

Baseball is a funny sport. You have the Giants who can't seem to score more than 3 runs at any given time against a guy who is undefeated in the post-season. Lee gets a 2-0 lead against a team that was horrendous this season when down 2-0 at any point in a game.

But as Wash says: That's the way baseball go.

Certainly ran into a buzzsaw out there. Wow. What a couple of gut punches.

But I still hold out some hope. The Rangers are perfectly capable of pulling off three in a row at home and taking the lead. But it isn't looking good right now.

Have the sports experts ever been proven more wrong?

Pitcher's duel in Game 1? Nope.
The Rangers offense is too powerful? Nope.
The Giants can't score runs? Nope.
    Cliff Lee is unbeatable? Nope.

    Anything else?

If that's the case then maybe he ought to stick around here for awhile before he takes the curse to another team.
