    New album
T5 downloads with full shows to come
    and the impending tour announcement

It's really bad posting this on the Pearl Jam message board, after all, but part of me loves MMJ more than PJ. Bang. It's been said.

    are you just speculating here?

This would be amazing! Night one was one of my all time favorite shows

For six weeks, My Morning Jacket will be giving you free downloads to celebrate
the forthcoming album Circuital. The first five downloads will be live songs
taken from each of their shows at New York’s Terminal 5 this past October.

On April 12th, the countdown ends with a new song from Circuital.

the first song, "Butch Cassidy", recorded live on October 18, 2010. Go to the band's website for upcoming download dates.

I didnt see anywhere that they were going to be releasing the full T5 shows, but i hope they do. One random song from each night is a tease. but i'll take what i can get 8-)

and, as for 2011 goes... MMJ may just have PJ beat **gulp**. I cant believe I said that  . I'll wait for the new MMJ album to drop before going as far to say that they are all around better than PJ. But, as long as the whole new album isnt UKE only, well, they definitively may just have the edge. thats all im sayin'

Just speculation from reading the MMJ board. If they have Butch Cassidy and 4 others from those shows coming to us in stunning audio quality, there's gotta be more to come. Most likely in the form of an overpriced box set. Can't wait!

agreed seems pointless to give out 5 free downloads from the show when the whole thing can be released. I would be surprised if this didn't happen asap. You know I'd buy it!

butch cassidy i could’ve been your friend
and rode with you and the sundance kid
we’d laugh awhile and we’d smile a bit
cause crimes like ours arent counterfit
they say you never even killed a man
till it came right down to your final stand
bullets flyin and the wounded cryin and your buddy he’s goin down
get lower and the feelins show and you gave off the final sound
cause a soldiers death is so much better than defeat just hangin around.
    defeat just hangin around...

    What a song.

They played Circuital at a number of the 2010 shows. I know they played it when i was them in Holyoke and in Portland. They didnt choose to name the album that until a few weeks ago (from what I have read). Another song that has been played a few times already (Portland and T5 i believe) is "Wonderful". U can find youtube vids of both and there are also a ton of audience recordings avail for download.

Alright, MMJ is one of those bands that I've been meaning to give a try for a long time, but for one reason or another, just havent gave them a true listen.

I saw them at lollapalooza 07, but when they were on I was kinda of far from the stage and after a long hot day, was just ready for Pearl Jam. Also, Wilco is one of my favorite bands and i like Band of Horses alot, and from what i gather, MMJ is similar.

So the question is, which album should i start with? I'd rather it not be the live album because I like to hear full albums when i first get into a band, not live material from a bunch of different eras.

    What do you guys think?

    one word:
    OKONOKOS

its a live show also avail on DVD. AND, ONE OF THE BEST LIVE DVD SHOWS BY ANY BAND. EVER. FACT :D

It took me a long time to get into this band for some reason. I dont think they come across well on their studio albums. But once you hear the songs live, it will change your life. I think most accessable album is "Z". "It Still Moves" is also a good one to get into, but again, it just isnt the same. These guys are meant to be heard/seen live. Listen to either of those two studio albums, but then, get OKONOKOS. You will appreciate what you have already tried to listen to so much more.

They are also a taper friendly band and there are tons of decent audience recorded boots out there.

So, study up. Cuz in a few short weeks we'll have a new album and hopefully a full tour announcement :D

I'd recommend this. It's the record I fell in love with this band on. But I agree with my girl twisted thoughts on her assessment...

I would go with "Z" - the bass intro to Wordless Chorus will get you hooked and the sheer genius of naming a song based on a truth...there really aren't any words to the chorus and it's so awesome to sing along to at live shows (the bass intro also makes for a perfect concert opener)...i like it still moves as well but most of the great performances on Okonokos come from the Z album

Z is in my top 10 albums of 2000-2010....every song just fits perfectly and dondante is one of the best tracks ever, and ever will be by this band

    ?

They have some similarities to Wilco, but BoH have a pretty identical sound. Imagine them with several extra layers of awesomeness. In short BoH is a really plain version of MMJ.

"Recorded in a church in their hometown"

I can't frickin wait for this album!

Dewiecox, I completely agree on the BoH thing... I heard BoH first time live supporting PJ last year at MSG and thought the same thing. The music is more simple in comparison to MMJ, they're a kick ass band but MMJ just wipe the floor with them live.

no argument needed. just stating which album i think is there best.

Also, you should reread the initial post which stated he didn't want a live album reccomendation ;)
