i could be wrong...im just relaying what the fan next to me said...he knew all the words the whole time and said it was a solo track which makes sense
ive read in rolling stone about a month ago and other places that they've nailed down at least 6 songs off the new record; i think if they were going to play new songs they woulda started with those and not a yim yames solo during an encore - but who knows maybe one of the six was Wonderful
either way - new MMJ album out next yr followed by a tour is worth waiting for - glad everybody enjoyed the shows
if you'd like to see my 6LP Picture Disc ebay auction from nights 10/21-23 please don't hesitate to PM me...i dont wanna post in this thread out of respect for Get_Right even tho he doesn't communicate his words very nicely

Thanks I think. What have I said that wasn't nice? Ive always been civil, even when disagreeing with someone.
Im not the only person that frowns upon people promoting auctions on the boards. Is that is what you are referring to?
Wonderful is a song Jim has been kicking around for some time ('07ish). Some believe they attempted to record it for EU (never surfaced). The thought is it will either be on the new album or used for a JJ solo album.
Since they played it at T5 i'm leaning toward it being on the new album. I heard some one mention they have rerecorded it already.
“I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version.”
there are quite a few decent vids on youtube from Portland...
drop a note here or shoot me a pm if anyone hears of actual boots of Portland or any of the T5 shows

Can't escape from the common rule
If you hate something, don't you do it too
I think we will get an official release at some point. When and how extensive i don't know.
would pay a boatload for a vinyl box set though!
“I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version.”
i'm surprised dimeadozen or ebtree doesn't have it yet. i don't check those sites but i bet if they have em the boots woulda made there way to archive by now.
a cd/dvd/vinyl boxset and other goodies for $120 would make this band a killing
Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight
Sammi: Wanna just break up?
Apparently the band was not allowing taping at the Terminal 5 shows because the band recorded them all. Someone on the MMJ boards talked to Patrick after the shows, and he indicated that the band might put the shows out officially for Record Store Day or some other way.
There has to be something to it, as the Louisville show was up pretty much the day after (good recording, too)
Twisted.......somebody in the comments section of the MMJ tapings forum said that he taped Portland and will be putting it up soon. Although that was a couple weeks ago, so who knows.
Welp, only took me 4 months to get the Philly show finally on my ipod.
Nice. I listen to that a lot. Way That He Sings, great Steam Engine, and I love Off the Record as an encore song. They extend that jam at the end I think moreso at the end of shows. Love that stuff.
Shit, this thread's been dead for a few months. That's unacceptable. So when do we think a new album arrives in 2011? I'm guessing June/July.

Lost all hope in that dude actually posting his recording from Portland. I did however manage to score signed/numbered posters for the Holyoke and Portland shows online thru the artists' site for cost
Can't wait for some new shit and another tour. Summer cannot come soon enough. If they're in the studio now, i'd think it would be acceptable to expect an album sometime after July... Maybe some shows again around August/September... :?: :ugeek:

Let's bring back that old time magic, twisted! How much fun was Mountain Park? Hi-lite of the post-Pearl Jam summer for me. So much fun. Yeah, I'm disappointed about Portland and I wasn't even there.
I'm hoping for a more southern-bluesy-centric album out of MMJ next. A happy medium between funky experimental indie of Z, with an updated reverby blues sound like Tennessee Fire and At Dawn. I could go either way on the omnichord shit at this point.
edit: But you know what? They'll probably take it in a completely different direction altogether. Something even cooler than we could speculate. Which is, after all, the reason why they'll still be relevant in 20 years. See Radiohead and Flaming Lips.

Mountain Park was freakin sweet and I hope they play there again next time around.
blusey always gets me
thats why i love Zeppelin, The Black Keys and even The Racontours (tho the greatness of the latter has somewhat faded over time)
Speaking of Radiohead...who will hopefully also have another album soon and a tour cuz its been since 08!!!
Get on the Collector's Edition of Kid A, Amnesiac, and Hail to the Thief. Lots o good live shit tacked on the end which makes it all worth it...because official live shit is lacking when it comes to RH. IDK y it took me so long to realize the existence of these gems...

hate to interrupt the thread and completely change subjects, but I finally picked up a copy of Monsters of Folk and am LOVING it. How do you guys feel about this album?

That's great! I personally love it. Never saw the act on tour, but I can't get enough of these harmonies. Jim, Matt and Conor compliment each other so well. They've been playing music together for years and this record is evidence of that. Can't wait for a follow up.

It's fuck.ing. phenomenal.
Speaking of which, just got this update on FB from MMJ - " Monsters of Folk will be appearing on the upcoming Austin City Limits episode which premieres this Saturday January 8 on PBS stations nationwide: http://www.austincitylimits.org/3610-monsters-of-folk "

I love certain songs, but some do nothing for me. I like when an album is concise, and wish they would have cut like 3 songs from this album.
10/29/10, hometown halloween show. Easily the best show of the year for me, and that includes 3 PJ shows. There's some great recordings of it out there, I highly suggest this one. Played a bunch of songs with the Louisville Youth Symphony Orchestra, got some gems in HBM, evelyn, phone went west and librarian, and quite possibly the best Mahgeetah ever, amongst every other piece of magic they produce on stage together. I love reliving this night
Can't wait for the new album and can't wait to see them again! Already announced that they're headlining Wakarusa festival, so they're definitely gonna be out on the road. And I really want a full Run Thru and Lay Low this time around!
He floated back down 'cause he wanted to share, his key to the locks on the chains he saw everywhere.
They've announced yet another festival for this summer. (High Sierra Music Festival)
I'm getting concerned that they may not tour properly. But, with a new album coming out, you'd think they'll have to get out at some point. A fall tour, perhaps?
fall tour - like last year is what i am assuming. after all the festivals.

Yeah. you have to assume scattered dates this summer and a big fall tour. However, if the album comes out this Spring we could still see a much more extensive summer tour.
I think they'll be hitting the road hard this late summer/fall any way you slice it.
As well, i would be supirsed if they didn't get involved in the PJ weekend.
