Question. How nice of an area can it be... if illegals can afford to live there?
I mean, here in L.A.... they live in the raunchiest places in the city... El Sereno, Inglewood, Bell, Lynwood, Willlowbrook... not Brentwood, Topanga, Irvine, West L.A.
if I have to explain you probably wouldn't understand, by the way I know L.A pretty well and have a few people there even lived out side L.A in Azusa for a few years, you don't need to tell me anything about L.A.

Godfather. wrote:scb wrote:Godfather. wrote:btw is it hate because the bill dose not allow illegals into the us ?
if thats what you believe then who is the racist here ?
Godfather.
I believe the hate/racism/whatever you call it part comes from the fact that the law creates a situation where people of color are more likely to be harassed, and this will now be legal. Many believe that America would never tolerate such a law were it directed at white people, and this double standard indicates that the people who support this bill, as a group, want only to protect their own rights but are willing to sacrifice the rights of their fellow citizens who don't fit the prototype of what many feel America should look like.
It has nothing to do with not allowing "illegals" into the US.
so you think this law was created just to harass the brown people ? wow ! :?
Godfather.
Dude... that's totally not what I said. Did you really think that's what I said or are you just trying to put words in my mouth? :?
No, I don't think this law was created just to harass brown people. I think this law will serve to allow - and possibly encourage - brown people to be harassed. And I think the only reason so many Americans don't recognize or care about that is because it's not their group that will be the victims of the harassment.0 -

I don't even own a TV. And, no, I haven't been sheltered my whole life and, no, I wouldn't protest anything just to protest.
I'm just amazed and frightened by the lack of critical thinking I see so often... like in your post.
And I can't help but notice that you totally avoided answering my question.0 -
most of your questions seem retoical (no disrespect intended)
yes I know the differance between "rights and supremacise" and lack of critical thinking....what do you think
is going on here this law was put in place to combat a critical problem that is costing the US a ton of money
and lives on both sides of the border, it needs to be addressed.

Got this emailed to me this am from a friend. She and I have never talked politics, 35 years, my better half of the Buzz twins. It shocks me how this is hitting everyone, one side or the other. Its time something is done.
Its a complicated situation, we would love to have open arms, it's what our country is based on but we are in trouble. We are over taxed and under represented. Some of us think its even too late(me) but something must be done to stop this. We can not (sheer numbers tell us this) sustain illegal immigrants any longer. So Mr. President "What do you say... Calling out"
stop the free hand outs, what is your plan?0 -

It's funny how people rationalize the simple fact of being born in a particular location equates to automatic entitlement to so many basic and fundamental human rights, and because we draw lines on the ground and say this is ours and theirs, it dis-allows others to have the same. Where is people's sense of humanity - seriously? Do you really feel that because your ancestry or family situated in a nation it gives you the entitlement to display outcry when people are merely trying to live normal, just lives? At what point do we all just look in the mirror and acknowledge that because we as a society expect things, it affords us the entitlement to disallow others those same basic freedoms? And just to be clear, the vast majority of the people we're discussing aren't criminals or similar, it's merely workers seeking to support their families.. nothing more. We expect others to treat our nation with respect or dignity and values, yet we do not show do that... it's pathetic and hypocritical to say the least.CONservative governMENt

one people ?
your thoughts are very nice, try taking your ideas to another country and see how far it gets you,
and why is the US the one having to give it up to everybody that can out run a border patrol agent.

No I'm not asking for a one world, but merely just one basic code which everyone despite of location have basic human rights. The simple fact that you reply in the tone using words like "look what everyone else does" or "we have to give up things" merely is implication that we are entitled to things others are not based on our location. Not sure about you, but other than the fact of people trying to work and make their way in life, security is my main issue and this is the one area no one seems to discuss.
But as you state, why is the US the only one to make these type of accommodations? And the answer is because it has the capacity to be the type of place everyone ought to aspire too. With great power comes great responsibility. Our nation is the great experiment and founded based on intentions of freedom, equality and pursuit of happiness - for all religions, cultures, peoples and similar. We may not have ever lived up to these ideals through our history, but it's what makes us special. We're not special because we have the most money and bigger weapons - these aren't aspirations we'd really want others to emulate is it? So what makes us great or aspiring to be great is the ideals of what we can be. But issues like this simply under-mind our willingness to do that on the sole basis of many in our society feel it is ok to play the status quo, keep what we have to ourselves for our own benefit and entitlement and say things like where/who else does these things or why us? The world is full of opportunities to improve for everyone's betterment, but if we just turn the cheek and sit on our hands, not only does it hurt others, it at some point under-minds ourselves and creates a society of self-interest people rather than to those inclined with greater aspirations to help all.Godfather. wrote:FiveB247x wrote:It's funny how people rationalize the simple fact of being born in a particular location equates to automatic entitlement to so many basic and fundamental human rights, and because we draw lines on the ground and say this is ours and theirs, it dis-allows others to have the same. The free meal ticket stops here. We no longer can afford to take care of the world. Our country is in ruin. Our children's children will be enslaved to pay for the mistakes being made now.
Of course, this could quite possibly be the plan. Enslavement. When a people needs their government power to take care of them they have lost their freedom.0 -

You really need to stop watching Glen Beck.
When you say "Mistakes being made now", do you feel that the cause of our deficit being so high is because of the current decisions being made?
Illegal immigrants contribute 9 billion a year just on Social Security. They contribute billions more in taxes....
Do you really think our nation could afford to simply ad 20 million people to welfare?0 -

Exactly! In all of this discussion about immigration & immigrants, we completely fail to acknowedge that the way of life we think we, above others, are entitled to is created BY OUR EXPLOITATION of other peoples. WE are a huge part of the reason so many in this world are so impoverished that they feel the need to come here just to survive. How dare we even suggest that we are somehow more entitled to a basic standard of living than they are! I say, if we want to close our borders completely to immigration because we don't like what immigrants our doing to our country, that's fine with me as long as we repeal NAFTA & close our borders also to our multinational corporations, who should also not be allowed to go out into the world & fuck up other people's societies.
As far as our entitlement goes, I heard a great quote yesterday about human rights: "If access to healthcare [or anything else] is considered a human right, who is considered human enough to have that right?" -Paul Farmer, MD0 -

the crux of the email is incorrect anyways ... there are illegal aliens everywhere and often in developed countries such as the UK and France ... heck, kids who decide to take an under the table job while backpacking thru europe are the same ... and besides - the truth is if you cross the border illegally in the US you get arrested and deported ... your email just shows what happens to people who get caught in mostly police states ... which makes no sense whatsoever ...
yes - your country IS IN ruin ... but blame the actual people that put you there ...0 -
