I'll jump out on a limb here and say- the poster was feeling for you. It seems to me that these threads are started by the nonbelievers to provoke those who believe in God, and religion, to defend their beliefs. I don't think I have seen believers doing that to the nonbelievers yet you say that is what we do. We try to push our beliefs on you?? No but we feel forced to defend them.
As far as not being happy- its the provoking, the need to attack, the cynicism and sometimes a bitter feel that when the words are read without actually looking in another's eyes it may seem as though you are unhappy. Perhaps this is not so. Perhaps you just like to debate.
But aside from that there is a true bliss that believers carry in their hearts.

false. the other thread was started by a believer. and he wasn't feeling for me, it was directed at Gern. Feeling for him why? He has stated several time he is completely happy. COMPLETELY. He just doesn't get it. SOME of you put yourselves on some pedestal and try to tell us how to lead our lives because our lives are not complete. You are not forced to defend yourselves; quite the contrary. If you have read my posts, I completely respect your and everyone's right to worship or believe whatever they want. I don't feel as though I'm afforded the same respect, and that is all.
the other part of it is honestly trying to understand where someone is coming from. But when I get the canned response of "well if you would read scripture and if you were truly happy you would just know, as I do". It's condescending, and it's annoying. If you can't defend your position with fact, fine, but just say so.
It is un non-believers that admit to not know all. Some of the believers tend to lean towards the knowing everything angle. Look at the posts. It's right there in black and white.
Now you tell me who is attacking and who is defending?

Actually I personally don't care what people believe- what possible difference would that make to me whether there are people here who don't believe in God. I did not know the believers started a thread as I'm not reading all the "God threads". Its quite a lengthy read you know. Pretty much a wow this can go on and on.
I don't read scripture nor am I religious but I am a spiritual person and that there really are no words for. As I have said before it is a feeling. There is a need that is fulfilled with a feeling. I experienced a miracle that has left me with this feeling. I know without a doubt that we all have souls that we have a place to go when we leave this world. Now you can try to discount this faith with your scientific thoughts and words or you can try to understand as you say you wish to. I have not seen a lot of understanding in these threads though.

Do you think arrogance is the correct word? That usually means to exaggerate ones own worth- to be overbearing. In the little I've read I haven't seen that in the christian counter I don't think. But maybe taken that way because faith is strong but not meant to be a put down to those who don't share the same.
Sometimes I think in the cyber world its so easy to misconstrue because we can not look into each others eyes and feel the meaning behind the words.

Yeah... especially if it written 85 - 115 years after your death by a group of guys that didn't even know you or Heidi.
You obviously dont know when they were written. Matthew 5 B.C.-28 A.D, Mark 26 A.D.-30 A.D, Luke 6 B.C.-26 A.D, Acts of the first Church anywhere from 30-60 A.D. Some were later but most were within 70 years of his death. While on the topic of people writing in that day; most people couldn’t write or read. So why write it? Did you write down the story of 9/11 after it happened, or how about Kennedys assassination? I heard of it and now with media saw it. I believe eyewitness account and the people who have heard eyewitness accounts. Do you not? Not every one writes everything down, we tell the story. Ones who want things remembered write them down, eyewitnesses and educated people. Ya you cant find the original document that these guys wrote them on because if one possessed that they could alter or change it to control people. Thats why there are in fact over 5000 different accounts of the gospels from believers and non believers alike.

Your source please? (a relevant source, not a biased churchy source) My point was that it was written by people who were born after Jesus died. People who didn't know him or witnessed the events or "miracles" performed by him. Fewer than 1% of the population could read or write at that time so most of the events were just handed down by word of mouth... similar to any mythology. Obviously today it is different... most people can read, write (and even do a little math) and with technology and the "semantic time-binding" knowledge of man it is a much different scenario.

Bible scholars. If you open a bible today and a piece has had a date determined then it lists it. They do this by study and cross reference of leaders, topography of the time, and cultural happenings. These are used to date the writings. If they were all written long after then why dont all the gospels contain the story of the 70 A.D destruction of jerusalem. They often discussed happenings of the times throughout the new testament but not this time, when the leadership and Jewish culture as they knew it had been destroyed? Jesus not only prophesied this destruction would occur but most of the writings that they believe to have been in the time right after Jesus never speak of it. So they had to have been written before this event by either eyewitnesses or people who heard eyewitness account.
heidi klum is secretly in love with me. what? you want me to prove it? i don't have to give any proof, it's true because I believe it to be so!!
The difference is you haven’t had over 5000 manuscripts written agreeing with your account. The proof is in the writing.
Also if you banged Heidi you would tell everyone you knew and pass it down through the ages that you we the guy that banged Heidi. It's a miracle that someone you know told you they witnessed a guy who knew the guy that banged Heidi Klum. Am I wrong?

so if the proof is in the writing, everything ever written by those that "witnessed" it would have to then be true.
look, I'll say it again. You can believe what you want to believe, and I'll believe what I want to believe, but you cant' seriously put forth arguments as weak as this and expect people to buy it. the proof is in the writing? Come on.
Maybe your account is right, maybe it's not. But you won't convince anyone with this.

His point was that faith is simply believing in something that can't be proven. My point was that his claim is probably more relelvant because it is first hand, versus yours which is based on a text written 85 - 115 years after the death of someone who lived 2000 years ago.

Obviously today it is different... most people can read, write (and even do a little math) and with technology and the "semantic time-binding" knowledge of man it is a much different scenario.
yeah and just try to get an account of what actually happened on Easter from the four gospels
the contradictions will make you pull your hair out

The difference is you haven’t had over 5000 manuscripts written agreeing with your account. The proof is in the writing.
Yeah... especially if it written 85 - 115 years after your death by a group of guys that didn't even know you or Heidi.
But you won't convince anyone with this.

and what if the first guy lied? what if the "eyewitness" to Jesus healing the sick with his bare hands lied?

His point was that faith is simply believing in something that can't be proven. My point was that his claim is probably more relelvant because it is first hand, versus yours which is based on a text written 85 - 115 years after the death of someone who lived 2000 years ago.
No, that would not be a "miracle." Just a long-shot.
yeah, and they have NO agenda, do they?
