I'm actually going to the game tomorrow, didn't pay for the seats but a former neighbor who moved from the area wanted to go since he's a longtime met fan. maybe I'll see the first no-hitter in team history..

you got a raw deal. you probably could have gotten at least half for those seats.

Technically you'd be giving your money to them because both teams get a portion of gate receipts.

I think it's something like a 70-30 split. Of course if you won tickets to that game from WFAN or somewhere or someone gave you free seats, you wouldn't be giving them money.

The Mets announced that Omar Minaya has been relieved of his duties and the option for 2011 on Jerry Manuel has not been picked up. In the meantime, here's a funny video on the hiring process:

and if you buy once online, you get on their email list, so I just got the following:

    Dear Mets Fans:

Thank you for your support during another extremely disappointing season. Like you, all of us at the Mets had high expectations for 2010 and we did not come close to meeting them. Since reaching the National League Championship Series in 2006, we have underperformed. The failure is unacceptable and we share your anguish.

As Ownership, we are ultimately responsible and have determined that changes are necessary to produce a winning team for the long term.

Earlier this morning, we relieved Omar Minaya of his duties as Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations & General Manager, and advised Jerry Manuel that we are declining to exercise the club's option on his contract as Manager for 2011. We appreciate all that Omar and Jerry have done for the Organization and thank them for their time and effort. Changes like these are never easy, especially when dealing with people you like and respect.

We feel a fresh perspective in the leadership of our baseball department will elevate the performance of our club. That person will work with Ownership to hire a new Manager and will be responsible for creating a winning culture.

We have a lot of work to do to regain your confidence and support. Thank you for the opportunity to do so.

Lower ticket prices and a freash ideas from the gm

That's what I took from the press conference

New gm needs to cleanhouse and start fresh wit da talent dats useful and can build around. The new gm needs to build a team that's built for citi field. I'd rather have 25 players that are like davis and pagan then waste of talents like castillo and ollie p.

Ya know the coupons have fooled this fanbase many times over the years but this time I truly feel they are comitted to winning and not short change us wit flat out lies.

Anybody who thinks I'm the general manager, do you think I really would go out and sign Oliver Perez? Or did I go along with what my GM suggested? We tried to get the best contract we could with him. It obviously hasn't worked so far. So the new GM coming in hopefully won't have the baggage of Oliver Perez being under his watch

I didn't hear that. Where was that said? By the way in July 2009 the Mets rejected a trade of Jon Niese, Bobby Parnell, Ruben Tejada and Fernando Martinez that would have given them Roy Halladay.

really loved what sandy had to say today. he's gotten me fired up for the season.

if the godfather of sabermterics want's a manager that's fiery and is a leader whose else besides backman has that. the other managerial candidates don't have that.

few things sandy has gotta do

    1. get rid of castillo
    2. get rid of ollie p
    3. sign carl crawford. he's perfect for this park.

    Dont you hate statistics?
to me sabermetrics are for gm's and people involved in baseball and not fantasy geeks or the average fan that want's to seem smarter then other fans

i don't hate them but when you talk bout them to other fans that's where i have the problem and won't discuss baseball with you ever. if you've noticed i stay away from having a convo with people on here that go by them for their arguments. i don't wanna learn bout these stats cause i'm not ever gonna be a gm with a degree from a ivy league school.
Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight
    Sammi: Wanna just break up?
