Also, if Tobi plays the way he did last night we are royally fucked. Looking at the stat sheet I would say that he just couldn’t get rolling because Embiid was out so the defense was zeroing in on him (which would be fine, because we only need him to excel when Jo is healthy).

But watching the game, he had EXTREMELY favorable matchups. Ish Smith, Beal, and Rui in 1-on-1 scenarios, resulting in turnovers or badly missed shots. He was blocked 6 times, 1 shy of tying the postseason record.

Let’s hope it was just a really off night for him and an anomaly.
Yeah Tobi needs to be better too. The difference here is Tobi had a bad game and I expect him to be better, whereas Ben's problems last night are things he's been dealing with forever. And we're gonna need more from him in those area's down the line.

Ish defended him well and I think he gave Tobi a hard time because he is so quick.

Quite a bad leak.  He's out "Doubtful" Wednesday, so he likely won't travel to Washington with the team.
If the team travels to Washington Wednesday, they will forfeit the game.  ;)
    This weekend we rock Portland

So Jo would be smart not to travel to Washington with or without the team then.

Probably should’ve just put Maxey in.

    Ben....just pathetic.
For his 5/20 FT shooting throughout the course of the series? Absolutely. Inexcusable.

For his 4/8 FT shooting during the “hack-a-Ben” sequence? The Sixers shot 41.7% from the field last night, so that 1 point per possession was more efficient than they were as a team for the night. His career average would have been to make 1 more of those 8, hardly a difference maker. On the Wizards possessions following his 1/2 FT trips Beal made a tough step back, Gafford had a put back dunk, and Rui hit a 3. That was the real difference maker. This team hangs its hat on crunch time defense, not Ben Simmons making clutch FTs.
I totally get this take, and Doc had a similar take (about taking 1 point per possession every time).  But the fact is that it killed the clock.  If we got 1 point per possession but was able to run the 24 down each time, we probably would have won

This is true. There’s also always the possibility of a dagger 3 pointer falling on one of those possessions, not only putting 3 points on the board but also acting as a huge momentum shifter. I just think most coaches won’t do it because you look like a massive idiot if it doesn’t work. And it very easily could have not worked last night if the Sixers would have played their typical crunch time D.

For sure. Tobi has earned the benefit of the doubt. Staying out of foul trouble might be the key. Especially if they end up playing the Hawks and the Nets. Except for the abysmal FTs I think Ben played great in the first 3 games of this series, and those defenses aren’t much better than Washington.

Even though the Sixers might stand a better chance overall against the Bucks, Simmons would likely be neutralized against that defense. Could see some very 2019 Raptors series type stat lines from him.

I just feel gross. It seems like if he comes back he won’t be close to 100%, and he needs to be 100% for this team to win a championship as currently constructed.

My uncle was planning on flying in from Japan to go to games 1 and 2 of the ECF. Now he might have to settle for Game 5 of round 2 and a trip to Parx.

Ya, zero chance we get by the Nets without a healthy Embiid. Still no clue on the severity of it.  I hope we just rest him until game 3 of the Hawks series (if we can pull of this one)

Yeah, I’m already starting to feel somewhat more optimistic about it. He was out there getting up shots and doing crossovers and such. Also just heard a report that it was actually an old tear that they happened to find while they were rooting around. Seems like that would be a good thing.

Killer triple double (hey Juggs!) and he hit 2 free throws and made sissy Scott Brooks abandon his stupid hackaben scheme. Of course nothing about any of this on Sportscenter this morning...

I imagine they will move the series on a little quicker since there are only 4 league-wide series to cram onto national TV. But who knows.

    I'll miss Zumoff and Abdelnaby.

I loved the fan support for Ben - Philly fans are the best.

Need a Saturday game.  Will be a blast. People won't know how to act. 100% in both places, across the street from each other.  Ruh roh.

Yeah maybe. The NBA loves drawing out it's post season as long as possible though. Given Jo's situation, I'm totally fine with that this year!

It really sucks how the local guys only get the first round. Zoo and Alaa do a good job. Took a while for me to warm up to Alaa, but they have good chemistry together. Best color guy since the mayor, Steve Mix.
