Another bank holiday, another record fair! I'm really just filling in my gaps now.

Picked up a nice first pressing of Exile on Main Street - I couldn't afford anything else after that, but it was a reasonable price for one of my favourite albums :D

    Go smarchee go!

This isn't a new purchase (bought it in 96), but I heard stuff on the radio, and dusted it off today for the first time in years - sounds superb!

    Ash, 1977

I was reading the other day that Ash were all set to support PJ on their US tour that year (96), but the singer got sick or something. That would have been interesting.

  • I went to Reckless Records in Chicago today and just couldn't resist although my suitcase already is too heavy :? :D What a fantastic record store, I could have spent ages there, it was overwhelming how much they had in store ... I went with these three:

The Nirvana one is a beautiful yellow 180g vinyl :)

Drove out to the countryside today, but on the way back had the urge for a little vinyl hunt. Picked a random town that turned out to have loads and loads of charity shop vinyl. A lot of crap, but I picked up three nice 1980s offerings for a pound each:

(My favourite anti-Thatcher Christian Socialists from Hull, nice shades of the Smiths, but spawned the truly horrible Beautiful South, - and the sometimes admirable Fatboy Slim!)

Picked up the all analog remaster of Are You Experienced yesterday - taken from the two track master tape apparently. Took a bit of getting used to (a lot more detail, but with a really rich sound) but now I'm sold. I really hope that more and more remasters and reissues will go the all analog route. It's good to know before buying, having had some nasty experiences with many of the digital vinyl reissues floating around (that don't advertise themselves as such)
