Riot Act - $175 off flea bay - Studio collection complete......

    Congrats!!!
Thanks, needed a bit of liquid courage- but it was inevitable- she would be mine!!!
Seems like you never regret the things you buy....only the things on which you pass.
Right, like the time I saw self-titled in the used bin for 30 dollars and passed. That topic could be a thread on its own...
    what year was this?

I once found Vs with a promo window decal, Vitalogy, Ballhog or tugboat, 100% Fun, Whipsmart and Purple in the 99 cent bin at reckless records. They were all there because they must have been somewhere moldy. There was a touch of mold on the inside of the sleeves and inners. Records were perfect though. This was probably 2006/7 before they were all re-released. That was a cool trip to the store.

I told this one before i think. Our town had two malls. Old one and the new one. By 1990 most stores had abandoned the old mall for the new one. Mid 2000s i take my first trip there in a decade just to waste time. Most of it had turned into offices. Three stores total still existed. One was a record store still with a wall of cassettes and longbox CDs. They had Binaural on vinyl tho! $15 i think. Im sure it wasnt worth $250 back then but still a weird cool find

If we are swapping stories of great finds then a few years back I was at a record fair. A guy was selling his whole collection. I picked up originals of Yield, Binaural, Beck Mutations and White Stripes De Stijl. I gave the guy to £40 for the lot and they were all out of print at that time. Great deal for me but I also left behind that day - No Code, Beck Midnite Vultures, Beck Mellow Gold Simply Vinyl and Gorillaz debut and they were the ones I remember.

Picked up some great stuff over the years at used stores but biggest regrets were originals of Foo Fighters - Color&Shape and James Iha -Let it come down. They were very cheap but I didn't buy because the sleeves were not perfect. They still remain missing from my collection today.

Got a box of records from a relative today to sell. Lots of junk but also some good stuff. Original Deep Purple records, John Lennon, Wings, Pink Floyd etc. Best one in there must have been an original UK Vertigo swirl label Black Sabbath - Master of Reality. If only they had taken better care of it and kept the poster.

Yeah I jumped on the Color & Shape lp when it was reissued for the first time a few years back along with Skin & Bones but still wish I had an original just because its the odd one out in my collection.

Houses of the Holy remaster (European version; I had to return the U.S. version)

Did you have the distortion on The Ocean?
Yeah, someone tell me that the UK version is clean please... The US version has horrible reviews. Love the album but have held off until I get this straight.
Why not just get an original? There were millions of them pressed back in the 70's and you can still find good one's cheaply. I have an original German gatefold pressing, sounds amazing...
Hmmm. Would definitely consider an early press. I so like 180 grams thouugh..
Haha, fair call, they are nice. But Euro originals to my knowledge and ears sound very sweet. Just saying! :)

My Canadian OG sounds awesome too, and I'm pretty sure I got it for about $8. ;)

I haven't read a bad review yet! Analog Spark offered to cancel my order so I can buy it elsewhere, but I don't see the point in that. No reliable stores/sellers have any currently, and won't until Analog Spark distributes. I'll be waiting (im)patiently. :)

I'm surprised at this and curious as to what the source will be for this release. I read years ago that the original analog tapes were destroyed in a studio fire.
I have the OG, but will prob pick this up too.

I was surprised, too, because I remember reading the same thing - here:

That's the one. I guess this part is the answer.
One thing the group doesn't have, however, is more music to include in such a set. "Geffen lost all the (master) tapes," Duritz reports. "What exists is the digital tapes that they transferred to do the mix; those still exist, but it's only the songs mixed for that record. Anything not mixed for the record is gone. We tried to find some stuff a few years ago for something else we were doing, and Geffen has no idea where they are. 'A Long December,' all the songs, the actual two-inch tapes are gone. It's disgusting, just so frustrating..."

  • Interesting to see August and Everything After pre-order as well. I wonder how it compares with the edition that's already available?

The one from a couple years ago was done by Analogue Prod. and was cut at 45 rpm over 2 200 gram discs. Sound quality is phenomenal.
This new one is done by Interscope. No mention if it will be cut the same or standard 33.
I recommend fully the 45 version.
