Thanks, man. I have heard a lot of good things about Laird.
with their aging team and current staff, I think it would be dumb for them to give up a top prospect. they can roll out sabathia, pettite, and vazquez in round 1. that's not too shabby
I think the only thing they really need is a solid bat off the bench. Their bench in its current form is pathetic (though Colin Curtis shows some potential). Now, if San Diego were fall out of the race and make Heath Bell available, then I'd make a run at him, though I'm sure it would cost 2 arms and a few legs. Park sucks, they really need Robertson & Joba to get it together, maybe give melancon an extended look
I agree. I have said mulitple times that I don't see them making a move, especially for lee when they can just sign him after the season. I would be much more inclined and happy if they were to trade laird though and keep Romine. I really think he is the next Yankees catcher.
what would happen with cervelli? i love that kid, would hate to see him go.
I love cervelli too, but "experts" rank him as the 3rd or 4th best catching prospect the Yankees have. He's been a much much better major leaguer than he ever was a minor leaguer. That said, i don't expect him to be moved anytime soon. I could see he & Romine sharing the position in a few years, with Montero being a #3/emergency catcher and DH. They have another kid, Gary Sanchez, IIRC, who also ranks very high, he could possibly be trade bait. II agree that there is no rush to trade for Cliff Lee, but their #1 demand is a major league ready catcher. But if you trade for Lee, who do you bump from teh rotation? 2011 is a different story, with Andy going year to year and Vazquez being a free agent (who I'd like back, but wouldn't mind terribly if he signs elsewhere and they get 2 draft picks)
haven't seen a pitch, it's a great night on the baseball package - first rollins homers off Wood and then Giambi homers off Papelbon.
do yourself a favor.....Don't watch the replay. UGLY game, for both teams. 4 baserunning outs in the 1st inning alone
I wasn't planning on it. Hopefully the two games I'm seeing at Dodger Stadium will be well-played.

hopefully the Top of the 9th makes up for a stinker. Can Jeter/Swisher/ Tex get to the immortal Aaron Heilman? Have fun at Dodger Stadium, say hi to Donnie Baseball for me
I love how Mariano does that, saves the win (though not a save for him) and just walks off the mound to shake hands with the catcher. No histrionics that you get from so many of the lesser closers and relievers (including Joba, who's getting much better, hopefully learning from the master) No pointing to the sky, no dance, no look at me, I'm awesome show. Just another night at the office for the greatest closer of all time
outstanding game but two of those strikes to loney were not strikes, but that's to be expected when phil cuzzi is running the show behind the plate.

I've always loved CC... but hitting Padilla was one of my favorite things he's ever done.
That was outstanding. Loved how he just stood there upright and stared him down afterwards too. A little crazy but one of my fav moments of the year thus far. Things like that can help a team really take off.

Girardi outmanaged Torre big time. Torre fucked up going to Broxton with a 4 run lead, leaving him in there for 40 pitches, and bringing in a shitty lefty to get Cano. Torre should know better than anyone that Cano hits lefties well. The decision to go to Mo down 6-2 turned out great. And the kids, Huffman & Curtis,,,,big time at bats
that was something to see in person. I was in the second row of the loge on the left field side.

Missed a lot of this series because of Phish shows and the recovery needed after. Hopefully they can pick up the rubber match tonight.
What a comeback tonight off Broxton.
