    A-Rod thought he hit a walk-off.

    Courtesy of LoHud blog

    Alex

“I thought I hit a much bigger home run than I actually did,” Rodriguez said. “I hit it and I looked at A.J. and Pettitte, and they weren’t jumping over the railing. At that point I felt like we probably had one half inning to play. It was pretty embarrassing.”

I think they still see him that way. I suppose it's always possible they trade him in the offseason or down the line, but considering his professional experience consists of three months in the minors before coming up, I'm sure they will be patient. One thing that is for certain is that he has little leverage in future arbitration hearings.

I hear you. I was thinking the same thing about arbitration today. It's getting really frustrating watching him pitch.

Trade deadline stuff. What do you guys want to see? Obviously the bench is the biggest problem right now and Cashman stated that recently. The guys they have not just are not going to cut it. Getting Thames back will help but they will defintely make a move to add depth.

The bullpen is struggling but I think it is better than it has performing.

The offense has been fairly anemic for the past month. Would love to see them get a full time DH but also dont want them to give up any of their top prospects.

What do you guys think? Xavier, what do you see happening?

One guy that comes to mind is Ty Wiggington. He was a very versatile player on some bad Met teams in 2002, 03 and 04 before being included in the trade for Kris Benson.

Yeah, I have read some rumors about the Yankees being interested in him. Seems like he would be a huge upgrade over Pena.

You think they will look into making a move for a full time DH?

probably not because I'd think they want to keep the revolving DH open for the likes of Posada and Rodriguez and anyone else.

I hear you. Thames coming back will help that as well. The offense is just making me a bit nervous. Hopefully Granderson can get a little more consistent and Tex can heat up.

  • as goes Brett Gardner, so go the Yankees. He's hurt, or not hitting, they don't score. He has a big day, they win big. I wonder why they let Bruney go to the Mets (after being releasedby washington) He can be maddening sometimes, but i'd rather see him out there than Chgan Ho Outta The Park. I just hope Bruney ha sthe balls to laugh at new "teammate" BB-Rod for his "performance" today (3 hits, 3 walks, 3 runs, blown save, loss vs. Bruney's old teammates)

50 wins already at the half way mark. and it still feels like the team is not all there yet. looks like Hughes arm is feeling the innings. I'm sure he'll bounce back.

Can anybody here explain to me why C.C was selected to be on the all star team? It kind of seems like a slap in the face to the pitchers with better era's than him. I'm not a Yankee fan, so all I can really go by are the numbers and it seems like someone like Pettitte might be more deserving.

C.C. won't be able to pitch at the All-Star game. So Andy might take his place.

Sounds like that is the reason he did it that way.

TV, does CC deserve it over some other pitchers? Probably not, but Ryan Howard clearly does not deserve it over Votto either. The managers get to pick their guys, always have, always will.

Howard's and Votto's numbers are closer though. The only edge Votto has on Howard would be average and on-base prencent.

  • you can make a case for CC with his 10 wins, but I think ARod is not deserving. Plus, the 3 days rest would probably be much better for him than all the AS festivities. I'm kind of disappointed Gardner didn't get picked, even for the Last Player vote. He doesn't have the name value, but he had a more deserving 1st half than ARod or Swisher. Plus, he could really help them win the game and home field with late game defense and/or pinch running. With 34 players on the team, why not have a superb CF/basestealer who is hitting 319
