Daily News said Arod will be out half the season, this could be a issue with the cap as he needs 13 to tie mays which will give him another 6mm bonus after that we have some breathing room as he shouldn't hit any bonuses in 2014.

    2013 salary 28mm
    2014 salary 25mm

I was under the assumption that incentive bonuses don't count towards the AAV of the contract

I don't believe that is the case the bonuses are applied the year he reaches each of them.

    660
    714
    755
    762
    763

I dont think that is the case with the new CBA

    http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/page/rum ... ne-bonuses

In the new CBA the luxury tax is calculated by the AAV of the contract, not by whatever is broken out for that specific year. Otherwise the Yankees could sign whoever they want and just pay them $1 Mil or whatever next year and $40 mil the following year to reset the luxury tax. So from what I understand, the bonuses are irrelevant to the $189 number. Otherwise, if they were to hit, since the luxury tax is calculated by the AAV of the contract, then MLB would have to retroactively go back and charge the Yankees more money for past luxury tax payments, which would never happen.

    fixed.

  • Well that would be good news if that's the case, not sure if this is retroactive or not read different things about this still not 100% sure what the rule is. What a stupid fucking thing to give out anyway I know hank was the driving force to bring Arod back but those bonuses have cashmans fingerprints all over them

I opened the CBA and it is on page 80 to 85 or so but I don't really get it or have the time to think about it. I am pretty certain they don't count towards the hit though from everything I have read.

Ha, yeah, as everyone knows, I clearly like the guy more than most, but it if he can recover, it is time for him as a full time DH. Don't let him get back in the field on a regular basis.
  • Absolutely Yankees need to find a 3b Arod shouldn't play the field unless there's a emergency.
  • whats funny about this Arod thing is we're all speculating if he'll hit with productivity, DH, or play third base after another injury in 2012...

Lets fast forward to 2017 and imagine the conversation:
"Man, I hope Arod can make it out of the dugout after his knee replacement, his new titanium hip, his liver transplant, and lasik eyeball replacement surgery. If we're REALLY lucky, maybe he'll even stand for the national anthem! He must have a few friends on the Delray Beach Marlins because apparently they're in talks to take over his 28 million in his final year!

2017 is going to be comedy gold.

They should fill all of the empty seats in the lower bowl of Yankee Stadium with hot chicks. That may keep AJinx on the field. Fucking bum he is.

Dude is getting paid regardless if he never plays again. I would imagine it has slightly more do with what the Yankees docs are telling him.

You have very little room, if any, to speak on this subject. Talk about a player doing whatever he damn well pleased.

Some surgeon in the USA Today estimates the recovery time for AJinx to be closer to 6-12 months.

    Please retire jerk off.

Gotta love random doctors who have no clue what his hip actually looks like chiming in.

Yankees open to trading Granderson. I have always said I think he makes a good trade chip, but man, this team has already lost a shit load of offense so far this off season. At least they have Cervelli and Romine.

Nah, Austin Romine, his brother. He's a catcher in the Yanks system. Their old man was also a fringe big leaguer.
