To say the Yankees are going into the season with the same team makes no sense. No offensive moves have been made and Gardner will be coming back. The solid pitching staff is coming back with the possibility of Pineda in may or June and I am sure there will be another starter or two in camp. The fireworks last year didn't get started for over another month, this team is far from set. It's not even friggen December, the winter meetings haven't started. Unless you were hoping for a bootleg version of granderson, the Yankees haven't missed out on any free agents.
Also, while the fashion in which they got bounced was miserable, not sure i would call a trip to the alcs an early exit.

Anything short of a World Series is an early exit. And yes I consider getting bounced in 4 games an early exit.
Sounds like Rivera is coming back. I guess we might know more tomorrow when Cashman talks after doing his practice rappelling runs on Stamford's Landmark Building.

BTW i can Catch, Just sayin! I mean i can't hit anything above 80 mph but i'm willing to lean into one.
That the Yankees told him they didn't have enough money to match the offer. Unreal. $189 is happening, folks.
Word, I'm waiting for Jeter to retire so I can take over at short stop. Was thinking about making my move earlier, but didn't want to show the guy up given how much of a class act he has always been.

Perhaps they didn't have the money to spend on a catcher who has been declining at an alarming rate offensively since 2007 and only threw out 24% of runners last year.
NASHVILLE – Alex Rodriguez was playing late in the regular season and playoffs with a re-tear in his surgically repaired right hip, The Post has learned.
Rodriguez is expected to need a second surgery in the coming days and will miss, at minimum, a piece of the 2013 season. Still, the hope is that the procedure will allow A-Rod to return as a full, successful player as early as the ’13 season and for the rest of a contract that takes him through the 2017 campaign.
The expectation is that Rodriguez wants to play on, not retire. The surgery is expected to be performed in Colorado by Dr. Marc Philippon, who performed the initial surgery in 2009. Rodriguez came back from that operation to play well, driving in 100 runs in just 124 games and starring in a postseason that culminated with the Yankees’ only title during his tenure.
In the short run this puts incredible stress on the Yankees to find left-side-of-the-infield depth since Derek Jeter also is recuperating from a broken ankle that, at the least, threatens the start of his 2013 season and potentially impacts his movements and range. And this comes at a time when the Yankees already were having to look for a right fielder, catcher and bench depth.
The recurrence of the hip tear potentially helps explain why Rodriguez suffered through such a miserable postseason, which ultimately led to his benching. He was 3-for-25 with no extra-base hits and 12 strikeouts during the playoffs. However, Rodriguez also is 37 and so age could be a factor in the decline and also his ability to recuperate well from another surgery.
Rodriguez is owed $113 million over the final five seasons of his 10-year, $275 million pact plus $30 million more in potential homer milestone bonuses.
With the Yankees vowing to get under the $189 million luxury tax threshold for the 2014 season, Rodriguez’s annual $27.5 million deal looms as a large impediment if he cannot play to even league-average abilities.

I know I'm beating a dead horse here, but when I see this spelled out in from of me, it just looks like a fantasy.
Its clearly the biggest mistake contractually in the history of the world. What a ridiculous and embarrassing thing for the Yankees.
Welp, hopefully it's the reason the reason he was so terrible and hopefully it helps. But the other hip, both hips with a history...not good.
Think we can say he is officially not going anywhere.
Let's just keep our fingers crossed that the surgery helps and it was a big part of the reason he was so bad. It would make some sense but man, he's getting up there to expect much of a rebound after this kind of stuff.

Daily News said Arod will be out half the season, this could be a issue with the cap as he needs 13 to tie mays which will give him another 6mm bonus after that we have some breathing room as he shouldn't hit any bonuses in 2014.

What about that other guy, Stewart.
Hoping for Cervelli. He's a firey guy. I like that.
He's definitely the least of the Yankee's problems. If he can play he'll be there in game shape.
