Michale Kay is awesome. Nothing better than interacting with him between innings at the game. He's such a yankee fan.

Also it appears Soraiano opted out of his last year of his deal.

Another Boras act to hold the Yankees hostage. :x

Perception. I'm sure they have worse people on their teams. And he's not even a bad person and knows a lot about the game. If he plays a full season. He's still a .280 25 hr 90rbi guy.

That was expected. They're going to have to let him walk if they're going to stick to their under $189 million in 2014 plan.

I don't know about you but I just don't see that number as achievable...unles they defer money, backload contracts, etc but then youre just robbing peter to pay paul.

Some depends on what they do with Cano's contract. Even with Hughes who is due to make more in 2014. But with Swishers, Soriano, and I think Granderson's money by 2014 gone. They could sign some cheap stop gaps. I think Kuroda says he would do another 1 year deal. So that's more money off th 2014 payroll. It could all change if they sign expensive free agents.

Deferring contacts and backloading money makes no difference. Its the AAV of the contract that contributes to the luxury tax. If you could do this it would be simple to get under that number.

They had a chance when Banuelos and Betances were looking like they'd be ready to contribute in 2014, but Banuelos doesn't have a shot and I don't think Betances is even projected as a starter anymore. Edit: Everyone else is too far way to expect any contributions from the farm aside from Montgomery, who should be up beasting it up like Robertson this year.

They have to find some short cheap deals. Torri Hunter could be one. Letting Granderson walk is definitely going to help if they decide on it. Cashman said their $189 plan included Cano and Granderson, but it aslo included Banuelos.

Mo being gone and replacing him with Robertson is definitely a positive for the budget. Pettitte won't be pitching in 2014, Kuroda probably won't either, if he is even back this year. Finding good cheap replacements for the staff is really the only way. A good year out of Nova would be really helpful. It would be really tough at this point but if Pienda is healthy that is a big bonus. A one year rotation of CC, Pineda (who knows), Hughes, Nova, someone else, could get you there. It just is not going to be easy. I don't think they are set on $189 but I think they are still working towards it and have a plan. I think that they will get under that number sooner or later to restart the clock. Better now than later with the projected free agents.

I didn't realize that with the contarcts as far as the luxury tax number.

I'll check and let you know. I haven't walked into a sports book yet so I really don't know. I do doubt however it's a million to one or everyone would lay a buck on that bet.

You're in Vegas again? How often do you go?

I need to know the best hotel to get a good sized suite (aka with a bar and enough room for multiple strippers). Any advice would be sweet.

Yeah, that's what makes it tough. Especially with a really big dollar deal coming to Cano. Going to be interesting. I love the business side of baseball so I'm going to enjoy it.

Geez. Any major property could give you a great room including that. I'm very partial to the MGM/Mirage properties so I would start your search there. Something like these. I'm very biased towards the MGM .

A lot of hype gets built up about places like the Palms and Hard Rock but I hate that they are off the Strip. I went to EV last night at the Palms...I can see it from the MGM...but it was three miles away and took me a half hour to get there with traffic. It's just my opinion but being directly on the strip is the only way to go.
The Luxor has great rooms and they have become very competitive price wise over the last three or four months for some reason. I mean it's a wonderful property and you can catch rates ridiculously low at times.

Harrahs (not an MGM property) is also really nice and that puts you smack dab in the middle of the strip. Classy joint but I've never stayed there before though.

Ah, shit, forgot his tour started. Ha, yeah, that's the problem. They all have similar rooms. MGM seems to be reasonablly priced with some of their suites too. Good stuff. I hear you on those other two. I don't think they are options. Edit: I also shoudl have added that we are trying to do it up, but not the insanely priced spots.

Have you considered a vegas host or party planner (and I know party planner sounds hokey but it's not)?

A host is hired by the casino to keep you gambling by giving you free shit to keep you on property. They are employed by the casinos and most of them are sniveling bitches. Lay a few thousand on the table at once and you will meet one for sure. They only come around when you're winning forget I mentioned them. They are blood sucking leeches.

The party planners are all over. COntact one...tell them your budget and they will arrange a great experience for you...for a fee of course and their kick back from the clubs they bring you to. I've never used one but a quick google search will bring up a shitload of them. Start calling and find someone you're comfortable with.

Nice, can't hurt to at least have my buddy contact one. Think he has some hook ups with clubs and shit so not sure how much it would be needed, but definitely can't hurt. I'm gonna die.

75:1 to win the World Series. 30:1 to win the NL Chamionship.

I liked the Red SOx actually at 20:1. I have a feeling they will fill out their lineup nicely to compete again next year.

BTW, since this is Yankee thread the Yanks were the overall favorite at 5:2.

It won't be a disaster unless you meant that in a good way. No matter what you choose to due in Las Vegas it's hard to not have fun and yes on the moving.
