He's batting 160 with 4 rbi's in 100 postseason ab's as a Yankee. I don't want him on the team next October so I would love to see them move him this offseason.

Got to get to October first though and he has had 3 solid years with the Yankees. I am open to moving him, but you don't move him for lesser value just because he struggled in the playoffs.

I agree. There are plenty of players who struggled in the playoffs that were good in the playoffs. While he's not the deciding factor for them being in October, Swisher is one of 10 right fielders to produce 20 home runs and 80 RBI last year in the majors.

Agreed, and he gets on base at a good clip. He's not one of their superstars but he's a solid player. I'd move him in a package for a starter but I'm not sure who would want him that has pitching available. Atlanta needs outfield help but not sure they want to add $10+ mil. A's are clearly not an option. Will be interesting to see what Cashman comes up with.

Garza is on the market, it sounds. Can Cashman and Theo match up for the first time? I'd say the Cubs want way too much.

Angels want a catcher. This probably won't be liked, but Montero for Haren (am sure there would be more players involved)? I'd have to think about that, 2 years of Haren for 6 of Montero, I don't know. Then again, this will NEVER happen since Scioscia loves defensive catchers and prefered Mathis to Napoli.

Ticket prices released today. Mine stay the same. Grandstand between the bases rise quite a bit, was hoping to upgrade there but not going to do it now. Bleachers are now $20 a game, looks like the Yanks realized these seats are awesome in the new stadium.

Some of the more expensive tickets declined, rightfully so.

It sounds like the Angels are looking at smaller (in name) options such as Ryan Hanigan or Kelly Shoppach.

So it costs the same to sit in the non-obstructed bleachers as the grandstand outfield. I also saw something about a nine-game plan starting at 90 bucks per ticket.

Yeah, that's what I saw, but whenever a team is looking for a catcher, I have to think Cashman raises his eyebrows, especially a team with two legit pitchers like the Angels.

Yeah, I just posted about that. Pretty crazy, those are awesome seats though. I was there for the ALDS game and loved it. I would almost prefer to be there than the Grandstand with it being so far from the field. Then again, I love having a seat and the rooftop bar right by my section, I'm most likely not moving.

Edit: Yeah, got that email, not sure what that is, suprised they are offering that already. Mostly weekday games from what I saw. Suprised they are already pushing new seasons since they haven't contact current holders abour renewals. I think that my be $90 per ticket per game and for good seats. The email I got didn't really say.

Yeah, love it up there, directly outside my section. Not bad having a place to get bloody marys 30 feet from my seats on a sunday afternoon. Great touch on the stadium.

With the Reds putting Alonso on the market, Yankees aren't getting shit without giving up Montero. Might have to wait and see if Cain or Hamels hit the market next year and wait for the kids to develop.

    Another thumbs up to this

    http://riveraveblues.com/2011/11/change ... ove-59764/

If they can't make a trade for a front line starter, I would sign Darvish and start him in Triple A to let him get adjusted. That would create a big league rotation of CC, AJ, Hughes, Garcia and Nova (in no real order after CC) and a triple a rotation of Darvish, Banuelos, Betances, Noesi, Phelps/Warren.

Yankees would be looking at having a serious fucking farm system with that. Nova, Darvish, Banuelos and Betances are 4 damn good pitchers to have long term and pretty big trade chips. 2-3 of them are projected to be front line starters.

Then position wise you have Montero, Romine, Mesa, Sanchez, Nunez and Mason Willliams.

With that system, the Yankees could easily make a trade for an ace without giving away the farm.

It's a win every year mentality with the Yankees and the rotation next year looks iffy, but the future looks very bright.
  • I have to wonder if they plan on adding another starter this year now that they've re-signed Garcia. I can't imagine they'd knock Nova out of the rotation after the year he had last year and I don't think they'll give up on Hughes, either. They signed Garcia for a reason and I doubt that reason is to be a $4 million long-relief guy. That leaves Burnett and his horrendous contract as the odd man out if they sign a guy like Buehrle or Wilson (and I don't see them paying Wilson what he wants, so that's unlikely unless the price and years both come down). Even with as much money as the team makes, I don't see them releasing Burnett and eating what's left of his deal. Moving him to the bullpen destroys what little trade value he has left unless he turns into one of those guys who pitches better in a 1-inning role where a team might see some value in him if their closer is injured or not performing (but that will still require some serious dollar-eating on the Yanks' part). Unless they pull off a trade that involves Hughes, I'd say it's likely that they start the year with the same rotation they had last year (minus Colon unless he comes back to them as a reliever/6th starter).

It's all about an upgrade at this point and then figure out what to do if you end up with too many pitchers. Better to have too many than too few. Garcia can be moved if need be with his contract. He could have easily gotten a two year deal but wanted to come back.

They aren't going to sign Wilson. Like I said, I would love to see Darvish and have him start in the minors and take the time he needs to get adjusted, then come up when the situation is needed. Unless the Yanks can pull of something serious, I am fine with what they have. One of these aces will come available some day and the Yanks are clearly waiting it out.

Got my season ticket invoice. Ticket prices stayed the same, but for some reason there are less fees. I am getting one more game next year than I got last year but the total price is only going up $5.

Hopefully Old Timers lands on a Sunday again.
