    Hellickson ROY, Nova 4th.

I think that was right, Nova's ERA wasn't under four until August 21 and it's very rare for someone with an ERA over 3.50 to win any award. Plus you look at the last two AL Cy Young votes for precedence where ERA trumps wins.

I have no problem with it. Nova is not in Hellickson's league.

Only pitcher to win rookie of the year with an ERA over 3.50 was Jason Jennings. He won it with an ERA of 4.52 pitching for Colorado and practically won it unamiousmly.

Unbelievable series. Highest of highs, lowest of lows. Walkoffs to Mo blowing it.

I blame defensive positioning more than Mo.

As an outsider, that whole inning can point to Mariano's botching of the bunt. Yanks were totally on the defensive after that. You guys still got those amazing Jeter games with the homers from that series. Kind of like Fisk in '75 - more memorable than the final result of the series.

No doubt, that was huge and changed the inning. I blamed the positioning for a long time but there are not many managers, if any, that wouldn't bring the infield in, in that situation.

Unbelieveble series. Those three games at home were the most incredible games ever, especially with 9/11. It was a horrible loss, but that is hands down one of my favorite baseball series' ever

Not for what it's going to take to get him. He's going to take close to ace money and he is not near that.

I'd rather they pay him ace money than the Japanese pitcher big money. Remember Irabu and Igawa? They shouldn't even be interested in Durvish.

I don't like that philosophy at all, can't let a couple bad decisions hold you back just because of nationality. Darvish has stupid good numbers against competition at the level similar to triple A. Cashman said the other day they are better equipped to scout a player like Darvish than they ever have been, so if they sign him, they have done their homework. Plus the good thing about Darvish is he will take a good chunk of change but only about half or a 2/3 of that will go towards their luxury tax. And he's younger.

I really do not want to the Yankees to sign Wilson to a big contract, he's good but he's not elite and it's going to take an overpay to get him in this market.

Matsui worked for them, just pitchers haven't. I don't mind them signing Japanese players, but the pitchers haven't lived up to the expectations.

Wilsons agent is playing games. Now it sounds like they requested to meet with the Yankees before the winter meetings. I wonder why. Don't go for it yanks. Hang back.

His agent is doing the right thing. He wants to see what the team with the most disposable money in the game is willing to do and challenging the other teams to match or exceed it. Any agent with any kind of sense would do the same thing.

There's a difference between getting the Yankees involved and playIng games to make it looks like the Yankees are involved.

the kid is like part persian, part american and mostly japanese ...

i hope the yanks aren't interested in him and the jays can get him ... kid pitched in the world baseball classic and did pretty good there ... with no compensatory picks associated with him - i'd roll the dice ...
  • I'm confused Cliffy - CJ seems like a good fit for your team. They can afford to overpay - it's the fucking Yankees.

Yeah. he's a good fit, especially at Yankee stadium, I'm just not a fan. Dont think he's all that good and going to get paid a lot in this market

I don't think the Yankees have heavy interest. It's just that Wilson's agent is doing his dilligence and possibly trying to sell the Yankees on his other clients.

I'm not so sure about that guy but I'm loving the fact that swisher is drawing interest from multiple teams. Hopefully the Yankees move him this offseason I don't want to see him back in the pinstripes after another terrible postseason.

Eh, not going to dump him just to dump him based on the postseason but I am sure they will be listening. I am sure they'll listen for any other their outfielders. Gotta get a good return for any of them and Swisher is definitely the least valuable.

Got to get to October first though and he has had 3 solid years with the Yankees. I am open to moving him, but you don't move him for lesser value just because he struggled in the playoffs.

I agree. There are plenty of players who struggled in the playoffs that were good in the playoffs. While he's not the deciding factor for them being in October, Swisher is one of 10 right fielders to produce 20 home runs and 80 RBI last year in the majors.
