  • As long as those ideas don't involve trading Montero or Banuelos, I'm cool with it. The A's supposedly wanted both for Gio Gonzalez. Cashman should have kicked Billy Beane in the taint for even thinking that was a possibility. I'd rather see them sign Buehrle and trade away Burnett for anything rather than trade away any of their best prospects.

The Yankees are supposedly shopping AJ around. They're said to be willing to eat $8 million of his remaining contract, but that would still leave the receiving team on the hook for over $12 million per year for the next 2 years. If they really want to dump him, they'll have to at least double what they're willing to eat because nobody will pay $12 million for him.

Just came here to post this. Good luck with that  Although the $8 million is probably an inital figure. I would guess this means they have some ideas about how to add pitching though.

Agreed, completely. I wouldn't give up either of them for Gonzalez or Danks. Those guys should only be available for an ace, and I think that's how Cashman is approaching it.

Rosenthal suggested the Phillies could trade for Gonzalez and trade Hamels, that would be beyond idiotic and is not going to happen, but I would love it.

Yankees may have won the bidding on that Japanese shortstop. I know nothing about him.

Edit: Yankees won the rights. Strange. Not sure how much this dude will want to become a utility player in the middle of his career. If they can sign him, Nunez's spot is gone.
  • I don't think this guy is going to be anything special. The Yankees only bid $2 million and there are rumors that they were the only team to bid. He's just 29 and hits around .300. I'd imagine they'll deal Nunez for pitching if he signs, but I don't think he'll want to sign if he's going to be a bench player. I guess they could trade his rights to another team that could use him as a starter, though. There are quite a few teams that need a shortstop.

Greg Golson was released to make room for a Rule 5 pick.

They are going to have to release someone else to make room for Freddy too, I think.

Venditte didn't get picked up in the rule 5 so there is still the most slim of possibilities that we'll see a switch pitcher.

DS, finally convinced the Yanks aren't getting Pujols? His camp even gave the Yanks a chance to get involved late in the process.

Yeah, man. The outcome made it a bit sweeter for me but yeah. Game 3 right now. I was right across the street watching a hell of a show as this was going on.

I couldn't miss a game. It was tough going to the show on Halloween, but it was a reasonable compromise after giving up my PJ pair to the second of 4 shows of tix I had.

Brutal going to the show. My cell phone service was sucked too. Great time though and I wouldn't have done it any other way.

Yeah, hindsight says I made the right decisions as well. Miss the second show to see Cliff smoke the first game, miss game 3 to see PJ play a historic show. Really was amazing, more for you guys, but being able to drive like 5 minutes from my house on Catharine to the Complex was awesome.

Definitely, dude. You missed the right game for you to not see. It was a fucking awesome week. I don't think I have ever been so drained. Good people, world series, great fucking music in an awesome venue (where I met my girl who also loves pearl jam), good booze and plenty of extra goodies.
