What's up with so many fans wearing PJ shirts to the shows?

There's an old rule that you never wear a band's shirt to their concerts. PJ fans seem to disregard this completely! Any particular reason? If you're at the show, why do you need to be wearing a PJ shirt? Just curious.

I'm not sure why this would be a rule or why anyone would have made this up...

By the same logic then, one shouldn't wear any of their sports team apparel when going to watch their team play...

  • I have heard this before, so, with all due respect to the OP, WTF???

If you can't wear your favourite band's shirt to their show, when can you wear it?

It's only different because when you go to a Sporting event there are two teams playing, and you actually are rooting for one. At a concert everyone is there for the same reason.

So many amazing shows! Thank you.
  • This reminds me of that joke topic about why so many people stand during a show.

really , if you're worried about what other people are wearing,
then your attention is in all the wrong places friend ,
this is the stupidest " rule " ever conceived by modern man .
Where else are you supposed to wear a PJ shirt to ,
a good charlotte show ? ( or insert any other arbitrary rock and roll band here )

old rule? a line from a average movie starring jeremy piven doesn't really constitute rule making

    as to your concerns...who cares? it's a goddamn t-shirt

I should have worn one to KISS at MSG in Oct - so I could shove it in paul Stanley's face each time he said how much better KISS was than every band in the world and took shots at them for not giving their fans as much. The guy obviously doesn't get to many other gigs.

  • I wore the same blue flanel shirt to LA3 '09 that I wore to my first show in '95. I'm amazed it lasted. If it is cold in Perth on Nov 14, it'll be going there as well over my LA PJ t-shirt.

I wore a Gimmie T under my flannel shirt but it was so frickin' hot in the Spectrum I had to take off the flannel, exposing myself as one of 'those guys.' I didn't mind though. My Gimmie T is my favorite shirt - faded and softened to perfection after many wears/washes so it was worth the risk of being branded by self-conscious douche bags who have nothing better to do than worry about what other people are wearing.
I smile, but who am I kidding...

How about a Pearl Jam hoodie - is that okay hahaha  Cause I wear my prized orange crashious roadside hoodie from the 06 tour at just about every show now.

Well, I get it - I would never wear another band's shirt to that band's show - but for some reason, it feels like PJ fans are exempt from the rule since we're so passionate. Personally, I enjoy seeing all the different shirts, and almost always wear a PJ shirt to a PJ show...

  • I think you're all suffering from PPJTDD (Post Pearl Jam Tour Depression Disorder).

Wear what you like where you like and respect each other - that's all that matters. Wasn't rock'n'roll about breaking 'rules' about being free and not having to conform to someone else's standards.

Thanks I'll keep wearing my Pearl Jam shirts to work, to the gym, to the beach, to weddings and funerals and hope to be burried in one.

And yep, I'll be wearing one to Perth - Nov 14. 8-)

Just don't let me catch any of you in a Mudhoney, Nirvana or Soundgarden t-shirt !!! ;)

Good Catch Norm! I would have to say slightly below average movie.
    It was from PCU:
Droz: What's this? You're wearing the shirt of the band you're going to see? Don't be that guy.
