I was in Row 4 behind you, and if I remember correctly Ed threw the bottle to you guys, it wasn't handed to security, I could be recalling wrong, but I am pretty sure that is how it happened? I mention this because his initial grab of the bottle was understandable, it was a split second decision. In fact, if he didn't catch it I think it would have fallen to the floor.

The rest of this guy's actions are obviously unacceptable, and frankly criminal. Not sure this vigilantism method via a message board is the best way to go about this, you should go to the POLICE. Who cares about the wine bottle...

I will be waiting for his photo or video of him to emerge eventually.
And then i will be looking for him at every show i attend from now on.

    He's Fuckin' Finished!
There will be either a pro dvd of this show that hopefully
we can spot him on,otherwise im sure a fan shot dvd will
eventually emerge and you may spot him on there.
We will find him and he will be punished severely.

    im with you, guy.

after his ass is kicked can we do that move the nasty boys used to do where one guy rubs his head in the other guys armpit?

I really hope the mods don't delete this thread (like the Bean Girl years ago) because we are talking about a member that is not here to defend themselves. But I really hope they keep this thread going until it is resolved, and maybe should be made a sticky.

I witness the entire event inside the arena. That guy really pissed Eddie off at the end of the concert. I watched it totally change Ed's mood. What went from an amazing concert, turned bad quick because of this guy. Anyone who saw, knows that this really bothered Eddie, and it was probably all he talked about to the other band members after the show.

This guy in the front row center (tall with a bald head) was rocking out the entire concert and jumping around. However, Eddie chose the Topic Starter of this thread to give the bottle of wine to. He pointed at her, and threw it at her. The suspect grabbed it (in an interception catch) in a really unfair manor. Ed made it clear who it was supposed to go to. Because he was taller, he was able to get his hand on it. He would not let go afterwards. One of the staff members had to come over, and enforce Ed's wishes for the girl to have the bottle. The guy would NOT let go. It was all Ed was watching, and in fact, during the closing song, he had to address this suspect, so the girl-victim could get her wine. Finally the guy relented, and the girl was nice enough to give him a sip, while keeping a hand on it to make sure he didn't steal it again. When he took the sip, he was still trying to break it free.... and he took more than a sip... it was a couple big gulps. Then afterwards, for the rest of the song, he kept raising his arms in a V at Eddie, giving him the "What the Fuck?" look. You could tell Ed was pissed off at the moment, and it may have ruined the night for him. His final impression of Philly during the last song of the last night of the Sprectrum shows was a big guy bullying a small girl.

It make me sad to think that this story will get back to the band (they made it evident the first night that they are aware of the message board, rumors, etc). It is a terrible representation of our area. I can't believe someone who was in the first row for the final night could be so selfish. It was making me angry watching this happen.

Now to find out he assaulted the victim afterwards, and made unwelcomed advances… this is just disgusting. I hope the Ten Club becomes aware of this, and gets this girl some special reminder of the night. EVEN IF SHE GETS THE BOTTLE OF WINE BACK…. THERE ARE NOW TERRIBLE MEMORIES ASSOCIATED WITH IT….. ASSOCIATED WITH THIS ACT OF LOVE AND GRATITUDE FROM THE BAND TO A FAN, IS NOW THIS AWFUL ACT OF FAN-ON-FAN VIOLENCE AND ASSULT. It really isn’t fair to even consider the suspect a fan….. because he totally is missing the point of Pearl Jam’s message.

So anyway, I hope the Ten Club gives something awesome to this girl as a consolation, and they work with Police, reviewing seating and the signed fan club envelopes. This guy is very unique looking, and I am sure that many fans can identify him. In fact, I can, so if anyone needs me as a witness to the actions inside the arena during the last song, please PM me, and I will be happy to identify and give a statement.

Good luck, and peace & love to everyone.

I might be the only one thinking this, but I have a feeling that the guy that did this ISN'T a flipper, but probably more along the lines of a 'stalker' overly obsessed fan more than anything.

I mean seriously, who the fuck does this?? I want to think its more than some fuck up looking for some easy cash, and is some crazed insane person thinking that somehow having something that was 'touched' by Ed will make him be 'closer' to Ed.

Regardless, to the OP, I'm sorry that this happened to you, sending good vibes your way!
  • People can be very sick. He has to be a 10 Club member. I would expect them to look into this because this is a very serious matter. He could potentially assault other people at other concerts or anywhere for that matter. Hopefully you can except what happened and remember what a great show it was. Don't let that "rat" ruin your memories. I trully believe that something great will come from this. Life is mysterious. Maybe the band will read this thread and contact you. As for that guy, I am sure many people will recognize him at future shows and turn him in. I don't think it would be a good idea to assault him. That would just cause more problems. I really hope that something positive will come from this. I have faith that it will.

Great post! I just finished reading this thead and I sure hope they catch the person. Just terrible! Condolences to the OP and sure hope it all works out. This thread is a good example though of how good most PJ fans are. This idiot is in the minority thank goodness. :)

  • Wow, this is incredibly disgusting. I've hoped for moments like this every time I go to a concert and you were lucky enough to have Ed single you out and some asshole dirtbag had to ruin it. I'm so sorry this happened to you! Karma is a bitch and he'll get his soon enough. I just hope he gets called out in the meantime.

    my god this is disgusting.

I am very sorry and i hope your ok. as someone else said, I'm sorry that this might get back to the band, can't imagine how they would feel. extremely hurt I would suspect. they love and respect their fanbase and this person just disgraced everything about that not to mention common decency.

If a guy I didnt know started hugging and touching me like he did, I'd kick him in the nuts.

This guy's absolute disrespect for women is the worst thing about this entire situation.

Totally agree. Watching this guy, he totally had such a sense of entitlement. When Eddie Vedder himself had to get involved, and tell him the bottle was for the girl, the guy starting yelling at Eddie and throwing his hands up at him. This guy seems like someone who has had all the things he ever wanted in life handed to him. When he was told "no" he couldn't handle it. That bottle had to be his, regardless of Ed's wishes, security's actions, and any sense of morals.

He clearly made unwanted advances on the victim, because he felt a need to dominate her. He made her feel weak, uncomfortable, and vurnable. This was a coldly calculated crime. He likely was hoping that by making the victim feel weak and in danger, she made possibly hand the bottle over guilt free. However, when this spoiled predator did not get his way, he took the bottle by force.

It is such a shame. How do you look at yourself knowing what you did? I do not think he could ever attend another concert. I do not think it is wise that people are publically threatening him.

I would advise that the victim contact the police, and file a report as soon as possible. I am sure the Ten Club would be happy to turn over seat locations, video tape, and other relevant information to the police to ensure justice and uphold the values of our wonderful little club, and our great free country.
