Great VINYL! friendly rolling synth basslines in the 1980s.
Stll stuck on side 1 of your Now II - I used to love the Thompson Twins!!
I have a picture,
pinned to my wall.
An image of you and of me and we're laughing and loving it all.
Look at our life now, tattered and torn.
We fuss and we fight and delight in the tears that we cry until dawn
Hold me now, warm my heart
stay with me, let loving start (let loving start)
You say I'm a dreamer, we're two of a kind
Both of us searching for some perfect world we know we'll never find
So perhaps I should leave here, yeah yeah go far away
But you know that theres no where that I'd rather be than with you here
today
You ask if I love you, well what can I say?
You know that I do and if this is just one of those games that we play
So I'll sing you a new song, please don't cry anymore
and then I'll ask your forgiveness, though I don't know just what I'm
asking it for
Don't worry Kev, I'm not dedicatinng this song to you! (Armwrestle??)

Fuck me, I have finally found a modern reissue which beats the vintage pressing!! Knew it would happen eventually. Love's forever changes. Now the pressing I had before wasn't the earliest - probably 1970s, but was a neat copy, but always sounded very muted and subdued. For this reason I decided to take a gamble on the reissue - no idea if it's a remaster or a digital remaster or what, but I would definitely say it sounds better overall. Still has the analogue warmth, but has much more 'oomph' over my previous version, and thank god doesn't have the tone which I can't stand on some of the digital remasters I have wasted my money on. Great album great piece of wax! Think mine is just an Elektra 180gm, nothing too fancy
EDIT: am so pleased with this pressing that have looked into it a bit more. I think it is probably old overstock rather than a new remaster - a 'Heavy vinyl' Gold Label Elektra from 1987 rather than a recent jazzed up thing, that I almost always hate. Barcode: 7559-60656-1
So actually this does nothing to persuade me about the value of these current reissues. Bloody good record tho!

Got this baby 2 day's ago. Received a bonus Black Rain 7" single inside.
This is rather expensive set...I was fortunate to find it new & sealed for under £65 (including postage costs) from amazon.co.uk!!
I need to get this in my life.
Am currently vinyl drunk. Bought my 3rd pressing of Dire Straits communique album today - an overlooked classic, 'made' for a good hi fi system. At £3 was about the price of a large Starbucks latte. Don't believe this second hand copy has ever been played. My head is in danger of exploding into a shower of liquid gold! I need to stay away from the Porch for a while - since it's 11pm here and people in the daylight won't be able to understand what I have to say for the next 2 hours!! gibber

When I hit a new town, it's not so much 'lock up your daughters' as 'lock up your second hand vinyl'. Nothing of value is left!
Yesterday was in the Lake district while on me holidays. Picked up a few more 1980s greatest hits, then ended up in a proper music shop. The guy had loads of vinyl framed on the wall, so I asked if he sold any, and he said 'not really - I sometimes sell those but they are mainly to frame' - and he pointed to a shelf with about 200 second hand records on it! I already owned a lot of them, some great 'classic rock' - but I picked these up for a few quid a piece - chose them due to condition, pressing, and content!
(nice replacement copy)

THE WHITE STRIPES VINYL RE ISSUES
Third Man Records is proud to announce the long-overdue reissues of the first three LP’s by The White Stripes.
Out-of-print in North America since 2005, the utmost care was taken in presenting these records in the best way possible.
We started by mastering each LP from the original analog master tapes, the first time this process had been used for any of these titles. While extremely labor-intensive, this method ensured that the material was never converted into a digital signal. The result is an audio quality that stiffens the hairs on the back of your neck.
We pressed each record on 180-gram vinyl, again, the first time any of these three albums have been afforded this superior vinyl weight.
For artwork, we started from scratch and went back and tracked down all the source material, working from the original photographic prints to provide the crispest versions possible of these album covers.
From there, we printed the artwork on the deluxe old-style, tip-on sleeves from the wonderful folks at Stoughton Printing in California. This process involves printing the artwork on on sheet of paper (a slick) which is then folded over and hand-glued to a heavy board blank jacket. The difference in the final product of a tip-on sleeve as opposed to a regular, direct-to-board sleeve is akin to the difference between hardcover and paperback books.
Also, for the first time ever, each record comes with a coupon for MP3 downloads of the entire album.
All these factors together makes these versions of The White Stripes, De Stijl and White Blood Cells the DEFINITIVE editions of these albums. These are the versions The White Stripes want people to have for posterity.
And to tickle the collectors, we pressed limited numbers of each title on split-color red and white vinyl. All three albums will be available on black vinyl for purchase from our online store starting on November 30th. The split-color and black vinyl of The White Stripes will be available for purchase on November 30th in our Third Man Records store front, with the split-color and black vinyl of De Stijl and White Blood Cells to follow on December 7th and December 14th, respectively.
Another town, another great secondhand vinyl haul. The Oxfam charity shops may not be the cheapest, but they specialise in great condition 60s and 70s vinyl in some shops, and all the records I've bought like this in the past few years are my most played, best sounding buys.
Today:
and the piece de resistance - this Byrds 1966 mono awesome condition. Worth it for the electric blue cover alone. Class, can't wait to spin this one back home!

Think our efforts to keep vinyl on the porch are doomed to failure Kev - I've moved back into the proper section in the other music bit. Much more sensible :(

I went all mp3 for a few years -sent away all my vinyl. Then I saw the error of my ways
you fool :P
Yeah it was a major mistake. I gave them to my brother for storage, and whilst I was fucking around with my itunes he cleaned them all, arranged them by alphabetical order, and stored them safely in his house - I think he was a bit shocked at how I treated some of em. Then when I saw the error of my ways and got my turntable mended I asked for them back. He was a bit pissed off actually, cos I'd said he could help himself He's more hip-hop than rock anyway, though he does like a little led zep and stuff I got him into in our childhood.
Yeah, I feel like I went through a divorce, and then realised that I was still in love. So this is my second marriage!! (to vinyl...... women are far too much trouble )

And Forever Changes must be brought to many more ears that have never heard it! I bought it in 2000, when the remaster came out, because I'd seen Robert Plant earlier that year, and he played a couple of songs from it, Bummer In The Summer being the one I remembered. I met him afterwards and asked about it, he told me the album title and that it was coming out again. Have since introduced loads of people to it.
Saw Arthur Lee and Love (Baby Lemonade) many times between 2002 and his passing, none better than the 2003 show at the Royal Festival Hall which was released as the Forever Changes concert. Of note from that is that A House Is A Motel was played a second time and it is this version that is on the CD, not the version when they played the album in order!
The secret to a happy ending is knowing when to roll the credits

Yes more people should know about this album!! On any format!
I am just in the process of 'erecting' a new vinyl storage unit
It's partly out of necessity, but I want this one to be non-alphabetical, and for all the great masterpieces which I play so often they seem to spend most of their time littering my living room. This is going to be the 'esteemed and special' cabinet! Only problem is I'm no good at DIY. IKEA is almost idiot proof, but I think I need some help from someone like the serialthrilla who I'm guessing is good at doing 'proper' jobs like this!
