You are probably too young to remember, but there was a time when it was nearly impossible to get any ticket to a Pearl Jam show, period. My first show, I had to call this crappy phone-in line to get tickets. ME and 10 of my friends all tried. I was the only one to get through. The max you could buy was four tickets. Six of my friends were shit out of luck. They would have been happy to sit in the nosebleeds.
I very much remember those days. It sucked and I never saw them then because of it. I know my tix are going to suck (but hoping for a miracle). Honestly I will just be happy to be there.
I don't care whose 10 Club number is what. I'm just fed up with all the bitching from people who saw a kick ass show last night that I and many others could have only dreamed of seeing.
There are more important things in life, and if you let where you sit ruin what appears to be an awesome show ... I just feel sorry for you.

age and 10c #.....really no direct correlation. i know quite a few people under 30 with kickass 10c #s, and plenty of people older, including myself, with mediocre to crap 10c #s. and sure, the reverse as well. bottomline....a low 10c # in no way signifies being at all older, it simply means you joined the 10c earlier....no matter your age.
jeff, it simply was a question. obviously, from your perspective...pj doesn't tour much. all i was saying is that in reality, they do and have. that was all. we all have our reasons for being in 10c, love of pearl jam being the basis for us all.

Jeff, honestly it was a fantastic show. I apologize, to you, if you inferred my comments otherwise.
My concern was on ticket location, not the band/show in general.

Isn't that a reversed-entitlement argument? 'I can't go to shows, therefore anyone that complains about any aspect of the experience is an asshole'.
When we found the things we loved,
They were crushed and dying in the dirt.
We tried to pick up the pieces,
And get away without getting hurt,
But they caught us at the state line,
And burned our cars in one last fight,
And left us running burned and blind,
Chasing something in the night.

I agree.
In my experience, people who complain about where they sit fall into two camps:
1) People who have been around way too long, and are used to sitting in the first few rows and can't BELIEVE the Ten Club would DARE stick their holy asses anywhere else. These people also dislike every show, unless they play Bee Girl.
2) People who haven't been around long enough to realize how fucking tough it used to be to get tickets -- any ticket -- and how fortunate they are just to be able to see the greatest band in the world with relative ease. These people don't know how good they've got it.
I just assumed our boy IlliniGuy fell into No. 2. But it was basically a coin flip.

FC# is 192XXX not in the 400s like others who were also in the nosebleeds. Someone with a lower number who traveled from out of state and has been part of the fan club since the beginning also was stuck in our section. Something was not right and it's unfortunate that some of you can't understand that. While it was a good show the tickets were still a disappointment.
This is a big deal. Our seats were in the 300s as well. We would have rethought spending the money knowing the seats would be in the nosebleeds. In this economy, the club owes it to its fans to let them know upfront where the seats are going to be and give them the option to buy. It's disappointing to know I could have gone on ticketmaster and received much better seats. Way to treat your fans!

now THAt made me laugh.
personally, and i said as much earlier....i think a bitch about being in the 300 level with 10c tix is a legit bitch. i would be very surprised to get 300 level seats with any 10c # honestly. and yes i know i am repeating myself .....but this is honestly the first time i have ever heard of this happening. you bet, you're seeing pearl jam and that's awesome....but at the very least, the first time something such as this happens, i think it's unsurprising to read of disappointment. as i said, now i know for philly 10.30. i wasn't expecting great seats, i never expect great seats....but 300 level? yea, i never expected that either. now i do.

Well, to be honest, I've traveled to a few shows over the past few tours, so I have used the ticket-buying aspect of the club.
I'm just saying, if you are plunking down your $50, er, $20 every year with visions of getting superb seats to every show, you are probably going to be disappointed.
I've been to 13 shows on the 10 Club, and my experience has run the gamut. I've been in the second row. I've been in the back of the floor. I've been side stage. I've had Ticketmaster folks in front of me several times. Once, in Denver, I was displaced by a bunch of Tom Petty fan clubbers.
It's just not that big of deal. You go, you enjoy the show. It is what it is.

another thing the 10c got wrong i see. sigh. they have been sloppy as shit for about 3 years now. it's not just one thing. tour announcements, etc. get it together. please. i know a lot of people that aren't happy about what's been happening. we are all here for the music but please, those of you who drank the kool-aid, respect other peoples' opinions. the bashing of them is old. it's part of why i quit posting.

I don't claim to have any inside knowledge, but from the outside looking in, it appears to me that the Ten Club was overwhelmed by requests for this show. At the time the Chicago shows they were announced (correct me if I'm wrong), they were the only shows in North America.
I'd assume they got overrun by demand, and instead of saying, "Nope, we're sold out," they went out of their way to secure other (though less desirable) accommodations. Imagine the shit storm if they didn't. "I PAY MY $50, er, $20 A YEAR FOR TICKETS, AND NOW I CAN'T EVEN GET THEM!!!"
Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I'm not certain if this is accurate..
I've heard in the past (and I could be completely wrong)..they allot a certain amount of tickets to the 10C, sell those, and then turn off the 10C sale. If this is the case, they way oversold this event leaving some 10C members feeling the shaft as far as seat location.
I've always argued the fact that they should limit the amount of tickets for 10C members, to ensure that (indeed) they get the best seats possible. Or, at least, better seats than what are offered to the General Public via a presale radio password.
or you can come to terms and realize you're the only one who can forgive yourself oh yeah... makes much more sense to live in the present tense...
Yay. Another one of these threads. Just what this board needed.
You couldn't just contribute to one of the other threads on this topic. Had to start your own, eh?
Yes, really too bad this person had to put your so far out of your way or so severely inconvenience your life by starting another thread on a given topic. Get over it. If you don't like it, don't read the damn thread.
And if you don't like my post, don't read it. See how that works?
Starting new threads on any one topic -- be it Ed's hair, or the new album, or Target or whatever -- is simply bad form. It's like that on any message board I've ever been a part of.
If there's already a thread on a certain topic, you contribute to THAT thread instead of starting your own. I'm sorry if this is your first day on the Internet, but that's generally how it works.
For instance, when you whined at me, I simply replied to you within this thread. I didn't start a new thread entitled "STOP WHINING AT ME!" That would have been ridiculous.
Wow, I've apparently pissed off the Thread Gods! I really do get a laugh at how seriously people take these threads. I mean lets be honest - this is a goddamn internet thread on a goddamn internet forum! People take these things as seriously as if it were some serious part of their real lives! Hilarious! Thinkin' you're cool with your blog lingo, like "OP" and other hip little acronyms, and of course fan favorite and always original "+1" - a classic! I've said it before and I'll say it again, it is amazing at how bent out of shape some folks will get on these forums when someone (god forbid!) does something that they deem to be "in bad form". Sorry, but I've gotta laugh. Just wish more people would step back from their keyboards for a minute and realize how rediculous it is to get bent out of shape over what random people have to say on an internet forum....yes, let's not understate that...an INTERNET forum. HA!
I just don't get what the big deal is - if people want to bitch, and its not against the rules of the board to do so, then as far as I can see they have the right to bitch. And if you want to spend your time trying to tell them not to (uselessly trying to tell them, kinda like me trying to tell you all to leave them alone - also apparently useless, which I'm finished trying to do), then by all means feel free. Whatever floats yer boat

well, we already knew that.....and i am sure, so does 10c.
my only point was/is....this was a first, thus unexpected.....and thus i think 'fair' for those who got these 300 level tix to at the very least get to air their grievances, say WTF?!.....and sure, let us all know for the future. me, i definitely like getting 10c tix just to know i have tix, but for others.....maybe not. having this knowledge pre-show, always a good thing. always nice to make informed decisions. and yea....even if i would imagine my 257xxx # getting 300 level (which previously i have never, nor have i ever gotten such seats even at uber high-demand venues/cities)...i'd never think someone with a 100XXX # scoring such a seat. that is all.
I think part of the problem here is that what started out as a small, intimate operation dedicated to looking out for die-hard fans has swelled into something much more unmanageable. Personally I think the 10c should do away with the idea of allocating better seats to better 10c numbers.
I'm absolutely bemused by the overall fuss made about club numbers here, and it's a fuss generated by the idea that a low number means better seats. If the whole 10c ticket allocation was randomly generated it would remove that stress. If there are no expectations except gratitude for getting inside the building, then complaints are undercut. And as for those complaining about TM customers having better seats - they're called ticket drops, and are another method of undercutting scalpers.
I well remember the old days when tickets were very hard to come by. For my first PJ gig, in 1996, I had to queue to put a DEPOSIT on my ticket, two months before they actually went on public sale. Now I've seen them 4 times, having been a fan for 16 years - Europe got very little love in the 1990s. To me, a PJ concert is something to be treasured, no matter where you're sitting/standing.

Sheesh, the people feel the need to flame the complainers are just as bad as the complainers themselves.
Honestly, I don't mind seeing the people with problems posting. They usually give a heads up of what is to come and how I should gauge my expectations.
Honestly, I am mid 200,000 FC, if I am in the nosebleeds or the last seat in the house I am going to be upset and rightfully so.
The people who say "just be happy your in the building" or "how could complain about your seat if you just saw the greatest show".....they are just lying. If you took any one of those people and stuck them in the worst seat in the house, they would be just as fired up as anyone.....You can't tell me otherwise.
Now, all that said, if you just joined up before this tour started....STFU, you need to pay some dues
I was 3rd row section 309...wasn't the best seats for viewing the band but since I was there to HEAR MUSIC it was actually the sweet seat. Dead Center...the band sounded so fucking good. There are 10C members all over the world that would have loved to have been sitting in the nosebleeds so complaining is really ridiculous.
I would be shocked if I got 300 level seats with my member #..in fact i have never gotten seats other then on the floor with my #..but not sure if id waste my energy and bitch if i ended up in the 300s..as its not gonna get me better seats and no one cares about my shitty seats lol

exactly.
also, many a 'bitch' here has in time turned into improvements within the 10c. sure, it's nice to be done politely and respectfully .....but yes, both the positive AND the negative should be accepted, even welcomed, here.

I do think 10C is trying to be helpful in trying to get as many people in the room as possible without the need for them to resort to general sale bunfight, they're not out to shaft anyone. After all, when the band played London the general sale tickets sold out in 10 minutes - getting in was far from guaranteed, let alone getting good seats or standing tickets.
Having said all that, it sounds to me like you got a bad deal given your number. Glad you enjoyed the show

But these are arenas, yes? I mean, surely you can't be that far away from the stage even in the top sections? It's not like sitting in the rafters in Giants Stadium!

Since you're so new this Internet fad, the way it works is this: People post a thought. Other people respond to that thought. The responding part is actually kind of important. Otherwise, the whole concept of a message board is kind of moot. It would just be a bunch of people thinking out loud.
Take a look around. I'm sure you'll get the hang of it eventually.

I think you just have to be patient and work your way up and never let your number expire. I joined in 02 and have slowly been moving closer each tour. If someone complains about 10C selling more tickets than usual, remember that the alternative would have been trying on ticketmaster and not getting anything. I *love* walking up and picking up my 10C tickets, no matter where they are. We were in nosebleed in 03 at MSG but we were there and with many other 10C members in that section. You can't expect instant gratification such that if you join you'll immediately be 4th row. Its a long term thing with me - I enjoy every show no matter where I'm sitting. And part of the reason I joined 10C is to show support for a band I'm into, not just for the tickets.

Brother, you just don't get it, never will.
That is fine, actually it is perfect since you just proved the point I was making in my post so I will just say thanks.
Perhaps you could spell it out a little more, because your point wasn't clear. My point is that arena shows are much more fan-friendly than stadium shows, with very few actual 'bad' seats.
If you are making a point about fanclub no. and expected seat quality, see my above post for my views on that. Brother.

Yeah, I've decided to shut up a bit since I read that. I don't know much about ticket allocation for US shows, but that seems wrong...
I very much remember those days. It sucked and I never saw them then because of it. I know my tix are going to suck (but hoping for a miracle). Honestly I will just be happy to be there.

I'm not putting words in your mouth. I'm just not believing the words that are coming out of it.

Jeff, honestly it was a fantastic show. I apologize, to you, if you inferred my comments otherwise.
My concern was on ticket location, not the band/show in general.
you're the only one who can forgive yourself oh yeah...

Isn't that a reversed-entitlement argument? 'I can't go to shows, therefore anyone that complains about any aspect of the experience is an asshole'.
2. But it was basically a coin flip.

now THAt made me laugh.
personally, and i said as much earlier....i think a bitch about being in the 300 level with 10c tix is a legit bitch. i would be very surprised to get 300 level seats with any 10c # honestly. and yes i know i am repeating myself

Or, at least, better seats than what are offered to the General Public via a presale radio password.
you're the only one who can forgive yourself oh yeah...

Now, all that said, if you just joined up before this tour started....STFU, you need to pay some dues
exactly.
also, many a 'bitch' here has in time turned into improvements within the 10c. sure, it's nice to be done politely and respectfully

I'm no God. Just a guy on the stupid lil meaningless Internet that seems to have struck such a chord with you that you had to write a freaking Tolstoy novel to tell me you don't really care.
I'm actually somewhat of a Luddite. Until recently, I didn't even know what +1 meant. I've never used it before.
Says the guy who just out Tolstoy-ed Tolstoy. But you're above all this piddly Internet stuff. Right.

Brother, you just don't get it, never will.
That is fine, actually it is perfect since you just proved the point I was making in my post so I will just say thanks.
If you are making a point about fanclub no. and expected seat quality, see my above post for my views on that. Brother.
