There is a public transit park-and-ride that is located at I-5 about 5-10 minutes from the venue. On concert days, they run the busses non-stop beginning at about 5pm to and from the venue for something like $5 round trip. And same thing leaving after the concert. It's a pretty sweet set up. Otherwise, if we organized it, folks maybe could carpool from one central location. This way tailgating would be easier if you chose to go that route. If you have 4 or more people in your car, you get somewhat special parking, but it is first come, first served and you have to go to the venue site to print out the Yes Parking pass. Ask me if you have questions on this.
I was just wondering about this. I am staying at a hotel in Portland Downtown (Residence Inn River Place - booked through Priceline by naming my own price for 60 bucks a night. You get free breakfast at Residence Inn too) I don't have a car and my question is: do any busses go back to Portland Downtown from this park&ride area at night after the show?I have no patience for bad music and stupid people...

Is tailgating really the only option? Do they even allow it?
Any decent spots on the way off of I-5 that might work?wishlistfoundation.org0 -

Don't be putting down Kentucky now! it has given you some of the hardest rocking bands: My Morning Jacket, Black Stone Cherry and most recently Cage The Elephant
I'll give you My Morning Jacket, but that's it.NERDS!0 -

I don't believe so. Here is the link to call CTRAN (the local Vancouver/Clark County bus system) and see, but I don't think the to/from downtown Portland runs that late from that particular park and ride.

If you do e-mail or call ctran, the park and ride I mentioned is known as the NE 134th Street park and ride in Vancouver. So you'd be asking for the bus from the 134th Street park and ride to your destination in Portland.0 -

They don't technically allow it in the ampitheater parking lot. But if you bring stuff to tailgate and aren't too obvious about it (stash your beverages when you see the rent a cop coming, don't drink right out of the bottle or can) you will probably be fine. they have port a potty's in the parking log, so I think they expect it, but don't condone it.
I mentioned earlier in this topic that at a concert this summer we were drinking and carrying on in the parking lot and didn't even get looked at twice, but some obnoxious douchebags in the car next to us were ticketed.
We really need to get a preparty place nailed down.0 -

Thanks for the info. Yeah, I went to C-TRAN's website and couldn't really figure it out. But that's exactly how it looked to me too. So, now I need to find a ride from the venue back to Portland downtown.
I'll be more than happy to pay if anyone wants to include me in their car.I have no patience for bad music and stupid people...

Tailgating and the venue is a NO GO. argh.
Soo...... it looks like Jolly's? may be the best option? We are running out of time.. does anyone have contacts at the place or the other place anotherclone suggested?0 -
I'm happy to call the Billygans people and see if the room is available. I don't want to step on anyone's toes or make any kind of assumption on behalf of the group. So, let me know.
When I'm checking, what time would we need the room?0 -

This is the place that's near the venue? I would say from 2pm until doors/ticket pick up!0 -

It's not the place that's across the street (Jollies), but this place is a bit nicer and I believe it would be easier for underaged people to attend and has a designated meeing room for groups. Here's my original post on the place I'm talking about.anotherclone wrote:Here is an idea of a place that is in Vancouver WA, it's about 5 minutes away from the Amphitheater. It is a restaurant with a full bar...both beer and hard alcohol. They allow people under 21. They have a banquet room that holds up to 100 people at no charge (according to the website).
If we're talking Vancouver, this is a really good choice. I've eaten there and it's not a dump.
Also, there is a bank with a cash machine and a liquor store in the same parking lot.
I'll check on availability and see what they say. I feel like we can't fiddle-fart around on this too much longer. I can't believe it's only 10 days away. I'm getting so excited I can't stand myself.
edit: I'm going to call Jollies just for shits and grins, to see what they have to offer and I'll report back. That way everyone has someplace to choose from.0 -
I called the place that is right near the amphitheater, Jollies. They don't have a room that would accommodate a specific large group such as ours. They have a room that would accommodate about 30 people, but said I would need to call back on Thursday to ask if that was available. She said that we could meet in the bar, but that would be alongside other patrons and she said that on concert days, it gets pretty packed in there.
I called Billygans, and under an abundance of caution, I've asked them to hold their meeting room for us until I can get input from everyone in the next few days. We aren't tied to that at all, but I felt I should hold it just in case it comes to that. There is no charge for the room, it holds up to 100 people and I can cancel it at any time.
Would people be eating or just drinking? She's asking because they have a different food menu for the meeting room and she wants to provide those to us before we get there. This bugs me because..."different menu"? WTF? That sounds like a hassle if we have to order from it in advance. Bleh. Anyway, she said that alcohol is available in the room and minors are allowed as well. We would each pay our own bill, however they will automatically add 15% gratuity to each individual persons bill due to the large size of the group.

Do you or anyone know anything about Hazel Dell Brewpub? I spoke to Julia from there and she said that their max occ. is 160 and they would be happy to have us if we were interested. They can't necessarily "rent the place out to us" but at 2 p.m. they wouldn't be very busy either.
She said you don't have to take I-5 to get to the Amphitheater but if you did it would probably take 20-30 minutes due to traffic. Good review on Yelp for suds and general pub fare. Just throwing it out there if anyone knows of this place.

What's the word on this?
We having a pre-party anybody?0 -
I'm calling one more person back to see what options we have. Because I live near the amphitheater and know the area, I'm looking in Vancouver WA only. If anyone has Portland options, please go for it. I know Vantucky isn't anyone's ideal place.
My husband and I were thinking that it would be a good idea to carpool. I know we're driving and will have room for 2-3 people. I'm talking from the prefunction place or wherever works, to the venue and back again. We did pay for the VIP parking. I suggest either vip or "yes" parking, if you don't do either of those, be forewarned that the parking lot is a bitch at the end of a show.
If you are fucked up and hurl in my car....0 -
I went ahead and bought the VIP parking from TM after hearing about what a bitch that place was. $29.75 sucks but not if you are splitting it over a carload of folks.0
