rsvp and I have never heard of the Staybridge suites and lived here all my life. I personnaly wouldn't stay at any hotel in Vancouver except the Hilton otherwise I would stay in DT Portland. Also, we need a destination so I can inform the Oregon Food Bank.
Well in 2000 Eddie ripped Allen for being part owner of Ticketmaster and then dedicated Soon Forget to him. Just seems like this may be related to why they haven't played there since. Just my own little conspiracy theory though.
It has never stopped the band members from going to Seahawks games. Or, donating stuff to EMP. I think sometimes we take too literal things Ed says in concert. Trust me, in Seattle, Paul Allen is a civic hero for saving the Seahawks. Matt Cameron has even raised our 12th man Flag before a game a year or two ago. I would bet that there is no boycott by Pearl Jam of anything Paul Allen related. Besides that one (probably drunken) comment 9 years ago on stage, I am not aware of any other actions the band has waged against Paul Allen.
I'm just suggesting that Paul Allen hasn't forgotten and that he's holding a grudge. They didn't play there on the big tour in '06. PJ would have surely played a show there if they had a choice.

It is in the Vancouver Mall area. Near the Elmers Pancake House if I recall correctly.

Thanks. Coming in from out of town, and this place looked OK? Is this place far from the venue? Do you know anything more about the Staybridge suites?

In Vancouver, you are always about 10-15 driving minutes from the venue (sans concert traffic). In the mall area near your hotel there are a bunch of chain restaurants (Red Robin, Fridays, Red Lobster etc.) and the aforementiond Elmers Restaurant, and banks and a grocery store. But they really aren't walking distance, you'll have to drive to them but I'm talking like less than 5 minutes. The good news is that you're on a major highway so you won't have to do too much in-the-city type of driving. The hotel is fairly new. I think within the about the past 5 years or so.
Thanks so much for the info anotherclone! We live in Hawaii and had some concerns about the hotel after reading one of the posts on this thread. We feel much more comfortable now. Are you doing the Seattle shows too? If not... we will hopefully see you at the Portland Pre-party. We would like to buy you a beverage

Oh, it's my pleasure. Hubby and I are doing night 1 in Seattle as well as Portland. Look forward to meeting you.
So I did the delivery option. Which is free, but before I had a choice it said you'd be able to print it out.
So what's the deal here. Do I have to wait to print it out or what?
Thanks for telling us about the parking open again! I did the same thing SOS did...but I recall the site saying there would be an email sent the day before the show to print the parking pass. (Try adding it to your cart and you'll see the message) but I'm a bit concerned that some people printed it already?
Also, not sure that I'll ever know how I ended up paying $29.30 for a $25 parking pass w/ free shipping
PS - to the hotel folks - I did research the staybridge suites before I let you all know about it - I've never been there but it got good ratings and said it's fairly new. Not downtown portland - but only $40, less tax, and no $30 parking fees either (and I'm driving down from Seattle.)
I'm pretty sure you will get someting in the mail. Its just like buying hard tickets VS E-tickets. You bought hard tickets. I did too because it was an additional $2.50 for the print out tickets

Then why did they charge us an extra $4.30 then? Because my pass ended up being $29.30
It's in the middle of Vantucky Washington. Not much around there but farms, casinos, strip malls and freeway.
Don't be putting down Kentucky now! it has given you some of the hardest rocking bands: My Morning Jacket, Black Stone Cherry and most recently Cage The Elephant
I have no patience for bad music and stupid people...

There is a public transit park-and-ride that is located at I-5 about 5-10 minutes from the venue. On concert days, they run the busses non-stop beginning at about 5pm to and from the venue for something like $5 round trip. And same thing leaving after the concert. It's a pretty sweet set up. Otherwise, if we organized it, folks maybe could carpool from one central location. This way tailgating would be easier if you chose to go that route. If you have 4 or more people in your car, you get somewhat special parking, but it is first come, first served and you have to go to the venue site to print out the Yes Parking pass. Ask me if you have questions on this.
I was just wondering about this. I am staying at a hotel in Portland Downtown (Residence Inn River Place - booked through Priceline by naming my own price for 60 bucks a night. You get free breakfast at Residence Inn too) I don't have a car and my question is: do any busses go back to Portland Downtown from this park&ride area at night after the show?

I don't believe so. Here is the link to call CTRAN (the local Vancouver/Clark County bus system) and see, but I don't think the to/from downtown Portland runs that late from that particular park and ride.
If you do e-mail or call ctran, the park and ride I mentioned is known as the NE 134th Street park and ride in Vancouver. So you'd be asking for the bus from the 134th Street park and ride to your destination in Portland.
Is tailgating really the only option? Do they even allow it?
Any decent spots on the way off of I-5 that might work?
They don't technically allow it in the ampitheater parking lot. But if you bring stuff to tailgate and aren't too obvious about it (stash your beverages when you see the rent a cop coming, don't drink right out of the bottle or can) you will probably be fine. they have port a potty's in the parking log, so I think they expect it, but don't condone it.
I mentioned earlier in this topic that at a concert this summer we were drinking and carrying on in the parking lot and didn't even get looked at twice, but some obnoxious douchebags in the car next to us were ticketed.
We really need to get a preparty place nailed down.

Thanks for the info. Yeah, I went to C-TRAN's website and couldn't really figure it out. But that's exactly how it looked to me too. So, now I need to find a ride from the venue back to Portland downtown.
I'll be more than happy to pay if anyone wants to include me in their car.

I'm sure we could drop you off in Downtown Portland it's on our way home.

I doubt they allow it. And I know of Zero places that would be convenient.
Tailgating and the venue is a NO GO. argh.
Soo...... it looks like Jolly's? may be the best option? We are running out of time.. does anyone have contacts at the place or the other place anotherclone suggested?
I'm happy to call the Billygans people and see if the room is available. I don't want to step on anyone's toes or make any kind of assumption on behalf of the group. So, let me know.
When I'm checking, what time would we need the room?
