I guess Ill wait to see what plans Laura has for an after party, that's kinda what we did after FTM earlier this year, we got out I wanna say at 1:30am maybe and then we headed to return the car and crashed by our gate at the airport and then slept for the rest of the trip back home.
it's either that or book a hotel by the airport to sleep 3/4 hours after the show.."Without the album covers, where do you clean your pot?" - EV0 -

Looking forward to meeting youJMo wrote:Mrs Vedder78,
Stay by the airport. If you're flying out that early you don't want to stay downtown. And whoever said it was a triangle was right. The airport is on the Portland side of the river but it is east. Downtown is directly south from the venue. Have a great time at the show, go to the airport and crash. If you had more than 24 hours in Portland, then I'd stay downtown.
Thanks for the advice"Without the album covers, where do you clean your pot?" - EV0 -
Laura, are you wanting to pre/post party in Vancouver or Portland? Keep in mind (as I mentioned in another topic) traffic to/from the amphitheater is a real pain the ass. Depending on when you arrive, if you are too close to event time, allow a minimum of an hour to get there and anywhere between 1-2 to get out. There is one road in and the same one road lets thousands of people out.
There is only one bar/restaurant near the amphitheater. It isn't classy or anything even close to it, but it might make it easy to NOT have to battle traffic beforehand. It's called "Jollies". This would be an option if you want to keep it close to the venue. Otherwise, Portland has so many options, it would just depend which part of the city would work for everyone. Anyway, here's the info for Jollies. It's about a 1/2 mile from the venue. I don't even think it has a website. But it has food and drinks and it's pretty big.

Post party just keep in mind that hellish exit when planning the time and place.
Also count my hubby and I in. Let me know if you have questions.I live in Vancouver WA/Clark County so I have lots of information on the area.

if you're going to get a hotel, i'd say definately get one at the airport. that being said, you're probably looking at $75-$100 for a place by the airport, so living it up at an afterparty and sleeping on the 5+ hour flight home sounds like the most economical... you'll get to spend the most time with your friends, and have more fun. sleep is overrated.0

i haven't been to the venue before...sounds like it's gonna be pretty messy getting in (and out)...hopefully we will all get there in time for ticket pick up and ben harper + R7!...we can't have a picnic in the parking lot? just kidding :PVancouver 1998, Seattle 2000, Seattle 2002, Vancouver 2003, Vancouver 2005, The Gorge 2006, Seattle 2 2009, Vancouver 2009, Ridgefield/Portland 2009, PJ20, Saskatoon 2011, Vancouver 2011, Buffalo 2013, Detroit 2014, Chicago/Wrigley August 2016

Hey everyone,
I'm making my first trip ever to Portland for the show with my GF. Other then already deciding that we'll be spending Sunday taking a drive along the Columbia River and up to Mt. Hood, we have no idea what else we'll want to see. Any particular recommendations for sight seeing, places to eat, etc?I won't change direction, and I won't change my mind - E.V.

If you're driving along the Columbia up to Mt Hood, stop by Mulnomah Falls. It may be a little crowded on the weekend (maybe not in September as much since school's back in) but if you hike to the top, there are less people. You can't miss them. They are the largest falls in Oregon. Beautiful!
Also, you can stop in Hood River. They have some nice little restaurants and the Full Sail brewery, if you're into that. Or you can always grab a sandwich, sit down on the river and watch the wind surfers/kite boarders.
As for Portalnd, you can PM and I'll give you a ton of suggestions. One of them would be, If you plan on spending Sunday in Portland, go to Portland City Grill. It's at the top of the US Bank tower and has a wonderful view of the city. I go on Sundays because they have Happy Hour ALL DAY in the lounge. It's kind of classy but a shirt and tie are not required. I'm sure if you wear a shirt with sleeves, you'll be fine.
Enjoy!

There is a new "Loft by W" or whatever its called by the Portland airport. Its right at Cascade Station - a new large shopping area. Its like a "W" but more affordable. Maybe like courtyard by Marriott or something. I agree with those who say stay by the airport. I actually had a hard time getting a cab at 4am in the past. Its after the graveyard shift, but before most of the earily morning cabbies are out there. Probably the worst time possible to catch a cab. We had one called the night before for our run to the airport, and he didn't show up. You can google Portland cascade station if you want to see what shopping is available.
(Indifferentman) Portland has a lot of great food options. It really depends on what your budget is and what type of places you want to go. Lots of great breweries if you are into micro brews. Portland has the most micro breweries of any city I believe. Lots of "foodies" in this town too so there are a lot of fancy restaurants.
I can't believe the "premier parking" is already sold out :xGorge0 -

If you're going up to Mt. Hood you should stop at Timberline Lodge. Great place built in the 20s with great views (assuming the weather is good). Also a nice bar inside to have a beer or wine while looking out at the summit.
I made the Columbia gorge / Multonomah Falls / Hood River / Timberline Lodge / back to Portland round trip a few years back when my cousin visited from Belgium. It was a fantastic day trip and he loved it.0 -

I looked today and Ticketmaster still has some reserved seats available. It was in the back, but it might be another option if you need it.0 -

Long, but decent article about Portland written in the New York Times. Quite a bit about the food scene, the overall feel of the town and some good links for places to eat and check out. Might be decent reading for anyone who is traveling to town for the show.
