I can understand the frustration, but if anyone out there actually booked non-refundable flights or hotel to Philly, it is their own fault. The writing was on the wall for this announcement, even before the 28th and 30th were announced.

I haven't booked anything yet for this very reason. Not Philly, Not Seattle. Now that I know when the Vancouver and Portland shows are, and that I can't work them in to my Seattle travels, I will book Seattle.

I don't condone disparaging comments towards the South or anywhere else. I read that the Northeast, especially Philly, NY and Boston buys more albums, has more airplay, fills more shows. They are rewarding or catering to those who supposr them the most. In 2003, there were quite a few empty seats in the South. I feel for the true fans who are frustrated by this situation where there is less love for PJ in the South in general so they don't pay as much attention. So the die-hard fans are forced to travel.

LOL ... I am trying to figure out if this is sarcasm or not, since I said above that I am hitting Philly and Seattle. :)

You used to be here all the time ... what happened? Is is the frustration that you vented above that seems to have finally culminated to a boiling point?

Seriously, people? You're saying this guy's annoying because of a completely legitimate argument such as this? Give it a break, and stop drinking the Kool-Aid! I'm usually pretty quick to come to the band's defense, but unless they come out and give a great reason on why the announcements for these shows were held for so long, it's shocking to me that the band (company) can give the fans (customers) such a low level of service as this, when it's quite evident that people are ready to drop large amounts of money for them, and simply ask for KNOWLEDGE, for planning's sake, in advance! I can think of very few bands besides Pearl Jam who announce their tours in the absurd fashion that this one was announced in.

Blah blah blah I'm sure you know TONS about scheduling a tour. Ever think the band wants to have a date set in STONE before they announce it? What if they announced the 10/31 show before everything was set in stone and then had to cancel it for one reason or another? OH THE BITCHING AND MOANING I can hear it now...
First of all, nowhere had I insinuated that I know anything about scheduling a band's tour - all I suggested was that the bands whose touring schedules I follow simply do not release their schedules the way Pearl Jam chooses to. It's like handing us one piece of a puzzle at a time, and telling us each time that it's done.
Second, I'm pretty sure that I wrote that I feel they could dig themselves out of a hole by simply giving us a good reason on why the delay for these show announcements.
Finally - I didn't think I was BITCHING AND MOANING, as you stated so eloquently.. this is a discussion board, and if we all believed one thing, this place wouldn't exist. It's our abilities to discuss topical matters civilly that differentiates between discussing, debating, arguing, and bitching.

Nope. I am tapped out. I'll try for the other 2 Philly shows, since I have tickets to the 28th and 30th already. I am already seeing too many shows in 2009, now that I did a count :)

I wasn't saying you were bitching and moaning, I said that if Pearl Jam announced their 10/31 show and canceled it, there would be bitching and moaning. Thats obvious.

IT MAKES SENSE NOT TO RELEASE ALL FOUR DATES AT ONCE. Why does no one realize this?

I posted this in another thread:
I think they release some shows at the same venue before others is to see the interest. If the first 1 or 2 sell out, they can add more. If they release all 4 at once and they don't sell well, they'd have to cancel some. Announcing dates later > canceling shows.

Remember people, they are catering to people who want to go to one show, not ALL FOUR! Sheesh! I know they're not sitting there going "Ok so how do we plan this so people who want to come from out of town to all of the shows are able to get as many tickets as they want with the best seats possible?" PLEASE.

Well, since you know that PJ doesn't announce all of their shows at once, perhaps it would have been a good idea to wait before you booked a flight.

It ain't as if there isn't a precident.

Actually go back a few years and they never announced these shows so poorly. There actually is a precedent. Up until after the 06 tour the announced everything at once. Good thing I saved vacation to go, and now I'm not because of how they announced these. I wasn't taking off work for the way these shows fell. This isn't the band either necessarily, it's management. Something needs to change. It's, to put it bluntly, treating the fans like shit. And the people on here that like to bash the people who can't go because of the way they announce these shows are just as bad. I quit coming on here because of them. This used to be a good community, but quite a lot of people have ruined it. But the point is, they really need to pull their heads out of their asses with these shows already.
