Announce a tour like a normal band, wtf? This is AWFUL! I need to sell my Austin City Limit ticket now...
Anyone book a flight to Philly before they announced these shows?
After this year, I may not renew my membership, and I highly doubt I'll bother seeing my favorite band anymore, it's just too frustrating!

I'm just glad they still aren't hitting the south!

Dont sell your ACL tkts :(
I was hoping I was gonna see u there, Im still seeing you in Chicago right?

for some crazy reason, i get the feeling that your attitude may have had something to do with how you were treated.
Yep, in the south, they can search your car for absolutely NO reason... they can insist you spend thousands of dollars to come back for a simple ticket... had we been black, I don't think we would have even made it out without a beating...

I'd prefer they announced shows the day before, one at a time, as long as they don't tour the south... I wasn't aware it was actually so corrupt down there, I'd hate to see other fans go through my troubles...

I'm usually pretty quick to come to the band's defense, but unless they come out and give a great reason on why the announcements for these shows were held for so long, it's shocking to me that the band (company) can give the fans (customers) such a low level of service as this, when it's quite evident that people are ready to drop large amounts of money for them, and simply ask for KNOWLEDGE, for planning's sake, in advance! I can think of very few bands besides Pearl Jam who announce their tours in the absurd fashion that this one was announced in.

I agree on the argument about the way the band releases dates. I've had that argument for years.

But you make it without insulting people and calling people names and rejoicing in their misery.

Well, since you know that PJ doesn't announce all of their shows at once, perhaps it would have been a good idea to wait before you booked a flight.

It ain't as if there isn't a precident.

I'm pretty sure you don't NEED to do anything.

I changed my flight and vacation time through work to accommodate these additions. I didn't HAVE to...
I chose to. Pearl Jam are the best band on the planet. We should be happy they still play shows and still make music.

your broad generalizations are disgusting in my opinion. i'm sure you had nothing to do with what happened to you...it was the police's fault, right? and somehow...all Southern cops/people are jerks, right? and your racial profiling is spot on. police brutality only happens in the South, right?

I can understand the frustration, but if anyone out there actually booked non-refundable flights or hotel to Philly, it is their own fault. The writing was on the wall for this announcement, even before the 28th and 30th were announced.

I haven't booked anything yet for this very reason. Not Philly, Not Seattle. Now that I know when the Vancouver and Portland shows are, and that I can't work them in to my Seattle travels, I will book Seattle.

I don't condone disparaging comments towards the South or anywhere else. I read that the Northeast, especially Philly, NY and Boston buys more albums, has more airplay, fills more shows. They are rewarding or catering to those who supposr them the most. In 2003, there were quite a few empty seats in the South. I feel for the true fans who are frustrated by this situation where there is less love for PJ in the South in general so they don't pay as much attention. So the die-hard fans are forced to travel.
Up here so high I start to shake, Up here so high the sky I scrape, I've no fear but for falling down, So look out below I am falling now, Falling down,...not staying down, Could’ve held me up, rather tear me down, Drown in the river

You used to be here all the time ... what happened? Is is the frustration that you vented above that seems to have finally culminated to a boiling point?

First of all, nowhere had I insinuated that I know anything about scheduling a band's tour - all I suggested was that the bands whose touring schedules I follow simply do not release their schedules the way Pearl Jam chooses to. It's like handing us one piece of a puzzle at a time, and telling us each time that it's done.
Second, I'm pretty sure that I wrote that I feel they could dig themselves out of a hole by simply giving us a good reason on why the delay for these show announcements.
Finally - I didn't think I was BITCHING AND MOANING, as you stated so eloquently.. this is a discussion board, and if we all believed one thing, this place wouldn't exist. It's our abilities to discuss topical matters civilly that differentiates between discussing, debating, arguing, and bitching.
