SO ANNOYING!!!!
Announce a tour like a normal band, wtf? This is AWFUL! I need to sell my Austin City Limit ticket now...
Anyone book a flight to Philly before they announced these shows?
After this year, I may not renew my membership, and I highly doubt I'll bother seeing my favorite band anymore, it's just too frustrating!

I'm just glad they still aren't hitting the south!

Um... just go to the show you paid for? You still have a ticket to a show. If you want to be picky about what show you want to go to, then thats your problem.

I really don't understand exactly what you are complaining about, or why what has just been announced would mean you need to sell your ACL tickets.

pjtaper, Unfortunately this IS the normal way that bands announce shows now. I went through this with Springsteen both in NJ & Philly. For those coming from out of state,I can understand the frustration that you are venting. And for those ragging on pjtaper, get a grip, let the guy vent a little bit....we're all PJ fans here & we all want to see them as much as we possibly can!

They played Deep in Champaign for you, and early in the set, so don't give up on them too fast.

I sort of have mixed feelings. On one side, I get a chuckle like I did when they accidently reversed the seating in that show in the North East somewhere. Was it Grand Rapids? I forgot. Here is where all of these people who have practically guaranteed seats in the front, ended up not in the front for one night. And the "How dare they..." posts that ensued. And all of the younger fans got something they'll probably never see again.

So here is a case where people booked flights to attend what supposedly would be the last ever show at the Spectrum. And it's now not the last. Sort of like achieving Gold status and at the same time you hear Platnum status gets announced.

It has to be frustrating. At the same time, it favors locals seating as people get locked into their flights. Just an observation. For me, personally, I have a 251XXX number which is not great but better in a relative sense than my position for the 2003 tour. For selfish reasons, anything that deters some fly-ins is great because I get to sit nearer. I think most of the fly-ins are lower numbers than mine. I'm glad they are playing the Gibson in LA which is 6000 seats. That should make my position closer. LA 3 may not be as important of a show as Philly 4 (Last Spectrum/Haloween/PJ's love for Philly vs. LA), but I at least hope, for once, to sit where I can see them.

Seriously, people? You're saying this guy's annoying because of a completely legitimate argument such as this? Give it a break, and stop drinking the Kool-Aid! I'm usually pretty quick to come to the band's defense, but unless they come out and give a great reason on why the announcements for these shows were held for so long, it's shocking to me that the band (company) can give the fans (customers) such a low level of service as this, when it's quite evident that people are ready to drop large amounts of money for them, and simply ask for KNOWLEDGE, for planning's sake, in advance! I can think of very few bands besides Pearl Jam who announce their tours in the absurd fashion that this one was announced in.

I had to go back to Nashville due to the shady police, I waited until LAST minute to book the flight, everyone thought I was insane...
I just can't plan trips in advance, and I think it is due to PJ's way of announcing show the last couple tours...

i don't get why people book flights so early. I new i was going to Alaska for over a year and didn't book the flight until about 6 weeks out.

If I make it to Philly, i'll be driving, so not a biggie.

Yep, in the south, they can search your car for absolutely NO reason... they can insist you spend thousands of dollars to come back for a simple ticket... had we been black, I don't think we would have even made it out without a beating...

I'd prefer they announced shows the day before, one at a time, as long as they don't tour the south... I wasn't aware it was actually so corrupt down there, I'd hate to see other fans go through my troubles...

Blah blah blah I'm sure you know TONS about scheduling a tour. Ever think the band wants to have a date set in STONE before they announce it? What if they announced the 10/31 show before everything was set in stone and then had to cancel it for one reason or another? OH THE BITCHING AND MOANING I can hear it now...

Well, since you know that PJ doesn't announce all of their shows at once, perhaps it would have been a good idea to wait before you booked a flight.

your broad generalizations are disgusting in my opinion. i'm sure you had nothing to do with what happened to you...it was the police's fault, right? and somehow...all Southern cops/people are jerks, right? and your racial profiling is spot on. police brutality only happens in the South, right?
