It is IMPOSSIBLE to live in the USA, or any other industrialized nation, and avoid chains of giant corporations...that's just how things are; I don't know where you'd have to live to avoid it.

The PROBLEM with Pearl Jam that dissapoints/angers people is that many people had Pearl JAm on some unrealistic pedestal, and now everyone's heart is broken because their involvement with Target is very obvious and extensively documented. But please, they have never been detached from commercialism! So let's everyone just get over it...it's ridiculous to expect so much from them, it's just not realistic!

I don't care if Pearl Jam signs a deal with Satan himself to help push their next album as long as it helps me get my hands on it!

Maybe one could ponder on this....

"Come to think of it, a deal to keep Pearl Jam's music out of Wal-Mart, Best Buy and other big-box retailers that are no friend of the indies is perfectly in keeping with the band's well-known philosophies."

All this is just exploiting animals... no better than circuses or dancing bears, etc. You may say that your gerbils and parrots are fed and kept in a 'big enough' cage, but that goes against nature. Shame on you guys. FREE THE ANIMALS!!!!

seriously, do people not shop at these big corporations? Even Whole Foods- which is a big organic supermarket- that greenies and purists love for their healthier way of life- is a CORPORATION. This is the way life is now. Corporations exists, and people should get over themselves.

Pearl Jam can do what ever they want. They don't have to have the approval of every person in the world. I like their music, I go to their concerts, and I'm happy.

The more of you that leave, the closer I can get :D

yes of course pj can do whatever the hell they want. but that doesnt mean we all have to bow down in sychophantic unison. . we can disagree, we can voice our opinion and thats what were doing. and you klnow what?? its all okay.

    exactly!
i was trying to say that by partnering with target they were sending a message to other, big box corp retailers.....and that is exactly it! it ALL depends how you choose to look at it...

Alright - a little intro about the site if you're not familiar with it.

These guys are true music fans, putting the music first, and dealing with a lot of backlash....(FBI with guns arresting one of the posters for leaking Chinese Democracy)...you all remember that.

Well - back when the whole "target issue" was being talked about, these guys had put up the track that floated around, and prompty took it down after a cease and desist letter.

    Here's the aforementioned article....
    http://www.antiquiet.com/news/2009/05/target-pearl-jam-deal/

And here's another article that dealt with the backlash regarding the cease and desist from PJ's lawyers - about what's right and what's wrong.

Take a few minutes, read it...I think they make EXTREMELY valid points and freedom of speech is good, so try and relate to what they're saying if you can:

Here's the article regarding what's right and wrong:

    [Inappropriate link removed by Admin.]

*I know it says brit spears topless, but it relates to PJ, you'll see*
I'm curious to see what you guys think about this as well.
