I am as unhappy about Trump as most of you, but it's kinda sad to the left on the edge of its seat waiting out an impeachment that's never going to happen; and it's not going to get close enough for him to resign Nixon Style.* Time to move on and focus on 2018. I almost feel bad for people that are expecting the hammer to drop tomorrow.

It'll be interesting to see a) whether some horrible thing actually makes the GOP (and their most committed followers) actually abandon "party first" and challenge this guy and b) how 2018 goes. In the Senate, unfortunately, the Democrats are playing defense. The House could be more interesting. What will be the impact on those GOP incumbents (that are not in iron-clad districts) that are pro-Trump (or at least not in any meaningful way challenging him)? Will they feel any heat as their elections approach and try to distance themselves from Trump? Will they double down and paint themselves as pro-Trump? And how will they do in the elections...That's where I am on the content populace; I have a hard time believing that anyone will lose their seat simply for not challenging Trump. I do see the Democrats picking some seats up but certainly not evening it out. Trump should have his GOP majority in both houses for his entire first term.
I'm with you. I don't think there's going to be as many seats lost as some are hoping and the democrats may actually lose some Senate seats.
As for impeachment, I don't see it happening and even if it does, I am more fearful of the chaos that it will create unless there is concrete, indisputable evidence of the offense. A Trump impeachment that doesn't pass the sniff test with his supporters will only be perceived as a witch hunt and could throw this country in to some serious turmoil. This isn't the Nixon era anymore, everyone is inundated with media and news feeds of all types based on what they want to be fed. Trump being who he is, will choose to watch it all burn instead of trying to unite and peacefully resolve any uproar that comes of an impeachment process. I for one, am hoping that the 4 years goes by without him being able to achieve his major goals and then he is voted out.

The important point here is that broadly speaking, most Republicans are inclined against taking whatever steps are necessary to deepen their own (not to mention the public’s) understanding of the Russia affair. There are other measures Republicans could take to try to force access to the tax returns, either through legislation or simply by issuing more forceful calls on him to release them. Again: All we are talking about here is a baseline standard of transparency, one that Republican and Democratic presidential candidates have held themselves to for decades, because they recognized that the American people have a right to this transparency from their public officials, a right Trump does not recognize — and one congressional Republicans are now shrugging off.
As much as I dislike Trump and loathe what he is doing as president, I don't think impeachment is the solution. The only hope is resignation. This article in the Atlantic sums up my concerns.

To me one has to believe there's something serious going on with Russia and the President. Will anything become of the investigation probably not but it will probably cripple this President to get anything done as far as his agenda. Thank goodness there's no crisis at the moment because this President acts like a teen trying hard to bring an end to his virginity.
