It was a Sinatra song. He released an album of standards earlier this year, it was off that.

and it's a great album. imo, his most enjoyable since 'time out of mind'.

Watched Ed's performance for the first time last night on DVR w/ my kids. He looked great, sounded great and offered a genuine tribute and sendoff for Dave. Was proud to watch our front man blast one last time in the Ed Sullivan Theater.

I totally agree. He already looked great, but by the end of the song, he looked 15 years younger than when he started. Rock is Ed's fountain of youth.

BTW, Ed also wore a suit when he sang at the ball game recently. What's that about? But hey, if you look dapper in a suit, wear a suit!

Two great artists that added to my enjoyment in life. Ed and Dave.

Sucks getting old, the things you enjoy sometimes stop.

Just strengthens resolve to make next PJ gig.

    Gorge please.

Letterman maybe requested that song? It's a possibility. Maybe that song had some meaning between Eddie and Dave? "Critics" really have no clue...none as to why that song was chosen.

If you didn't like it, don't watch it again...lol. Maybe stop watching the band altogether? If you liked it, watch it again. It's really that simple.

I'm not being an asshole. I'm reasonably discussing the performance. I find it hard to believe you really think thst people who didn't love it shouldn't say anything. I actually think that a discussion about Better Man as a tribute song is a really good discussion for hard core fans myself.

Anyway, it occured to me that maybe Dave requested the song, but then rejected the idea. What kind of person would request a song that is specifically meant as a tribute to himself? Like, "hey Eddie, can you play me better man? Because, you know, you can't find a better man the me, hee hee!" I just can't see that happening. I suppose it's possible, but I just doubt it. This seems more like a song Eddie chooses as a song tribute to someone himself. He also played it as a song tribute to Jon Tester at his fundraising concert.
    Nobody singled you out specifically.

it will look pretty lame if he does a pearl jam song and the rest of the band isn't there.

Hahaha, thats exactly what happened too! Man Of The Hour would have been a better choice.
