    I think these bands are way more popular in the States than in Canada. Not sure what that says about American Radio. For the most part they are forced on us via Can-con rules.

    Here is just a small snippet of American Bands that suck...

    While I don't think shit music is a product of Canada (its universal). I don't understand their love of The Hip. Sorry but I've really given them a fair chance & well to be blunt...they bite ass. I own their live album & I'll say they are a very talented live band. But its just not my thing & it baffles me how it can be for so many others.

    Rush is amazing, and they have songs where there are no vox or not so womanly vox.

    and those are all fairly well known

    I think if most people would really listen to Rush the overall musical awesomeness would prevail.

    Who else would sound good singin over that music?

    On a side note: I hate bands with female lead singers. I dont think there has ever been one that I really like.

    Great band! I used to love them back in the day. Saw 'em live a few times in the early 90s and they always kicked ass.

    The Hip are an acquired taste. If you grew up with their music like I did, chances are you love them. I've noticed it's mostly Downie's voice that seems to turn people off, which is understandable. If you're listening to them for the first time his vocals can get kind of grating if you're not used to it. Contrary to popular belief, the Hip do have a lot of American fans, and some of them are more obsessive than any Canadian. When I saw them in Boston a few years ago, I met a dude from Arizona who had spent the entire summer following the band across the U.S. Personally I love them. They've been my favorite band for the past 18 years, and for my money I think they're the best rock n' roll band on the planet (sorry Pearl Jam). But hey, maybe that's just me.

    Anybody remember The Watchmen? Awesome band. I must have seen them live at least 12 or 13 times between '93 and '99. It's a shame they broke up.

    You seem to give the impression that no American bands suck they're plenty to go around. Make your list of those bands too.

    BTW.....I love RUSH and if you dislike Geddy's voice, RUSH has produced many classic instrumentals.
