    isn't all radio poisoned these days?

    dig a little deeper and you'll find some of the best music going.

    cuff the duke
    lowest of the low
    sam roberts
    rheostatics
    blue rodeo
    constantines
    great lake swimmers

    and on and on it goes....

    Neil Young and The Guess Who/BTO are the only Canadian music that I have found to be worthy of listening to

    Besides for some of the new shit that gets played, most alternative radio is pretty good.

    The fact that you lumped Rush in with the rest of the pathetic bands you've mentioned dosen't say much for your taste in music. ;)

    So give yourself a shot at their "musical" song that they put on almost every album. The aren't too bad.

    My buddies used and still rip me about Eddie's "moaning". Amounts to about the same thing. Be stron enough to see why a band gets signed, better yet lasts more then two albums and can still fill stadiums.

    I could care less about other people liking them or if they have good musicians......it doesnt necessarily make a band good. I still think Rush is terrible, the vocals alone can ruin their music for me.

    Those bands you mentioned are definitely some of the worst pieces of crap to ever be unleashed upon the world, but they're not even close to representing what Canadian music has to offer. People really need to stop listening to mainstream radio. As Northernwave pointed out, if you dig a little deeper you'll find that this country is currently producing some of the most exciting and original rock n' roll on the planet. For a good idea of what Canadian music is really about, do yourself a favor and check out any (or all) of the following artists:

    They sure don't. Those guys are one of my favorite bands right now. Their new album comes out next tuesday and I can't wait to hear it.

    I think these bands are way more popular in the States than in Canada. Not sure what that says about American Radio. For the most part they are forced on us via Can-con rules.

    Here is just a small snippet of American Bands that suck...

    While I don't think shit music is a product of Canada (its universal). I don't understand their love of The Hip. Sorry but I've really given them a fair chance & well to be blunt...they bite ass. I own their live album & I'll say they are a very talented live band. But its just not my thing & it baffles me how it can be for so many others.

    and those are all fairly well known

    I think if most people would really listen to Rush the overall musical awesomeness would prevail.

    Who else would sound good singin over that music?

    On a side note: I hate bands with female lead singers. I dont think there has ever been one that I really like.

    Great band! I used to love them back in the day. Saw 'em live a few times in the early 90s and they always kicked ass.
