we lost a pretty good coach.

Yes you did.  Is he retiring or what is his plan?
it’s a little murky…he didn’t use the actual word “retiring”….he may take some cushy job in the athletic department. Some conspiracy theorists think he’s gonna take another job, but I can’t see that. Hope not.

some of our more “engaged” fans’ teams did not make the CFP. ND, USC, the other USC, etc.

so, some of you may not give two shits who wins this thing. my guess would be you’re more rooting AGAINST a certain team or teams (with THEosu and bama topping the list)

but if YOU do have a favorite, who would your “NEXT BEST” be?

I’m rooting heavily for THEosu, but if not them, I’d take texas tech. ole miss would be OK, too, just for the comedy.

Would love to see Ole Miss win given the circumstances, otherwise would like to see Indiana win and then quickly turn off the TV before they interview Mendoza.
    This weekend we rock Portland

My gf is from Louisiana and was a D1 scholarship athlete at Alabama.  As much as it pains me we root for 'Bama. Would rather be rooting for LSU.
I had a lot friends who went to JMU and spent some time there back in the day. I will root for them over Oregon but not having much hope.
Overall I am guessing it will be either IU or OSU (again, ugh) as champions.

we’re all rooting for JMU, but it ain’t happening.

rooting for bama or LSU is like choosing between hitler and mussolini (or trump).

The underdogs obviously but niether will win.

    Indiana

Just want the games to be good.
Don't want OSU to win, they just did.
    Don't like A&M.
Had my fill of UGA but they are a great team.

I'd like to root against Bama and Miami but as the last teams in it might be fun for then to win
Don't like Ducks but as an old Pac10 team I'd root for them, depending.
Ole Miss is a huge nothing burger without Kiffen.

That was a Wobert answer.  :)

The love he receives is the love that is saved
  • Pulling for IU or Ole Miss.  I think Ohio State takes it.

give me about any matchup and I can find someone to root AGAINST. bama/OU is tough because I’ve never liked either. there’s really only one team I’m rooting FOR.

Bummed that the coach at my alma mater, Ohio University (aka Harvard on the Hocking), was fired “for cause” but happy it was just over a little booze in his desk and not for fucking/stalking a staffer!

Same.  Oregon is my adopted Big Ten football team.  Lived in Indiana 42 years and love ND.  Never had a big ten team I was a fan of, but Oregon is my happy place so root for the Ducks.

it’s absurd that that’s what we’ve come to.

    Cal is my ACC team!

Hell yeah, I didn't know you were an ND fan. I oft times feel like I'm on my own in this thread.

I agree though, Oregon is a happy place. They aren't SEC or ACC, so that is helpful. I was wildly indifferent to either until the later half of November.

Making a hierarchy or ranking of these teams is difficult. I really couldn't care less who wins. It's probably heresy to my SEC brethren, but as a South Carolina fan, I don't want the other conference teams to do well. If they all slip, maybe we can rise up? Unlikely, but I can dream...

Here's my hierarchy for this year:
1 a/b) JMU and Tulane - go underdogs!
    2) Texas Tech - least objectionable power school
    3) Oregon - no issues with them although I did like them better in the Pac12
    4) Miami - meh, they're just kind of there for me...would pull for them more if they played and beat Clemson more often
5 a/b) Alabama and Oklahoma - respect their history and tradition, but ultimately don't care about them
    6) Indiana - here's where my dislike really starts to heighten. Haven't cared about them for the most part, but there's just something about Cignetti that I don't like
    7) Ole Miss - can't support anything built by taint stain Lane
    8) Texas A&M - fans are obnoxious and the midnight yell practices are one of the stupidest traditions in CFB
    9) Ohio State - I was close to having the bottom 2 as a tie, but if they played I would pull for OSU. The fans that moved from Ohio into my neighborhood really do them a disservice. Especially the douche that drunkenly paraded around the neighborhood wearing jorts and a wife beater, looking like he stepped out of Florida's News of the Weird articles, shouting "O-H" to no one in particular.
    10) Georgia - To Hell, to Hell, to Hell with Georgia (sing it to their fight song). Our biggest SEC rival, even though we're more of a nuisance to them. Only time I ever pull for them is when they play Clemson. Truth be told, when those games happen I actively root for the ground to open up and swallow both teams.

he didn’t stalk and it wasn’t a staffer but, yeah, I’m disappointed by this. “funny” how we can can a coach but can’t hold a president accountable for worse behavior.

OU/bama? tough call…I hate bama, like most, but I strongly dislike venables, too. that said, let’s see bama take loss #4.

even as a buckeye fan, that’s a good recap. 🤣

you run into the O-H…….I-O people all over the world. I wear some Buckeye gear (along with that of my “other” teams) and it’s happened to me.

P.S. if your boys hadn’t collapsed against bama, we wouldn’t have to deal with them.

    P.P.S. agree about Cignetti’s “vibe.”
