Disappointed in Pearl Jam fans…

100% The entitled "GA Crew" that travel from show to show are absolutely the reason the Pearl Jam experience is declining. They send a couple of people to wait in the Merch Line and a few people to sit in the GA Line. About an hour before Merch and Doors open up they come out of their tents and Ubers and walk up and join there friends and act like they belong there and that is not an issue. I literally watched 20 people cut in the Merch Line and then lie that they were there the whole time. These are the people that are flipping all the merch and taking away the ability for people to purchase at original pricing. "Get Right" is exactly right as no one associated with the band gives a rats ass.Get_Right said:You cut the line for GA. You cut the line for merch. Reality is that there are no penalties other than dirty looks. The band does not care. Security does not care. Vendors do not care. You might even make a few bucks off your merch. Good for you if you put in the time. If all you care about is your place in line and people gaming the system, you are not there for the right reasons IMHO. Be done with merch. Be done with waiting all day to get three rows closer and bringing kids to get a tambourine. Just go see the best rock band on the planet and have a good time. The rest is stuff and nonsense.
I would argue the experience is declining because of the bad sound and predictable setlists. But just stay away from the merch hounds and the GA craziness and you will have a great time. They still put on the best rock shows. Having fun with friends is what it is about. Not merch, getting a tambourine or selfies with Ed in the background.0 -

That is not true. We have to break down our tents and clear our stuff out very early in the morning on show days. Yesterday PJ security came to the GA line at the campsite to walk us over to line up at the venue at 9am. One person hadn’t taken their tent down yet and security made us wait until that tent was down before walking us to the venue. So no one is in their tents an hour before show time. I saw people cut in the merch line as well but none were from the camper group.PJ N DC said:

I really feel like I am missing something. Random wristbands are not needed to get new people on the rail. They just have to come and get in line. I saw plenty of new people on the rail and camping out for the first time. Come join us. It’s fun. I see the issue as many people want to be on the rail but don’t want to wait in line for it. It is definitely worth the time and effort to me.on2legs said:
I don’t disagree that most of the folks are doing the right thing. So maybe just a random wristband to shake up the rail with some new faces.mace1229 said:
I think it works now. Ga is a shot for everyone to get close. Seating is by seniority. Or before they had GA, they'd have some rows up front that were random so there was always a chance, but mostly by seniority.on2legs said:

Maybe if the ten club gave the pit to the most senior members who won tickets to each show, unless they opted out, we would have less problems. What about this idea?
Metallica's ring-shaped stage. Standing in the middle, but assigned seating on the outside. Do a random row lotto for certain rows.
Another idea: It might be too confusing but:
Select seats or GA.
GA is inside the middle of the stage (Metallica style).
If you want seats, your seats will be randomly assigned to a section of the stands...and then sorted by 10C number OR on the floor...and then sorted by 10C number.
So if I select seats, I could be on the floor by 10C number OR in the stands by 10C number.
Step 1: Everyone with seats to a show gets randomly assigned to FLOOR or STANDS seating.
Step 2: Then sort by 10C number according to what people havePost edited by Lost In Ohio onPresidential Advice from President-Elect Mike McCready: "Are you getting something out of this all encompassing trip?"0 -
I don't condone the kind of bad, antisocial behavior you're describing, but if merch is that important to your Pearl Jam experience, I think you're missing the forest for the trees.PJ N DC said:

Not everyone in the GA line is as kind as you. New people arriving early enough to be on the rail seems to trigger bad behavior from some of these regulars. A random wristband would allow new people and regulars to be on the rail without any tension about who earned it or who deserves to be there.GlowGirl said:

The first 10 in line are normally the same everywhere we are not talking 100s. So there is plenty after those 10 or so who go 2 days early.
Anyone 1st time of 60th can go queue up if time money and commitments allow. Like any other gig.
A gig is a privilege, and if you make it your holiday for the year or every 2 years than more power to you..
Ive only had trouble twice and I put the person straight and confronted the situation head on. No more problems. All anyone will and can do is speak. Nobody is going to do anything to anyone either way. Never seen or heard of any physical situation so what we are discussing is words and how you use them.

Not the GA line, but this guy is relaying a physical altercation with people staking out the hotel. Given the numerous reports of verbal altercations (including your own), things are never physical until they are.lastexitlondon said:The first 10 in line are normally the same everywhere we are not talking 100s. Typical Pittsburgh answer. I’m from here so I can say it. I’m sure you’d rather stand in the parking lot, tailgate, drink from three to nine, stagger in all drunk, act like an ass, puke, piss, shit your pants and do it all over again at whatever event is forthcoming. Fun times for all!RS151862 said:

Not self designated. I said volunteer, who could be fully vetted by PJ. I don’t disagree but I’ve been in enough lines where people expect someone else to say something so nothing gets said. Am I supposed be in line for hours and if an individual ahead of me lets this happen and they say nothing should I approach from 100 feet back? My husband did that in 2014 because some guy from London (who was too scared to say something himself) who was first in line warned us “here comes the white van” who would drop off people in front of the line and cut just as the lines started moving. I’ve seen it enough to know that true pj fans aren’t the problem so if I could volunteer, maybe get a free ticket, and keep the asses from the real fans it would be worth it (unless it’s raining! 😂).Go Beavers said:
