    I do not.

Because you and I don't remember how angry everyone was when this movie was released, doesn't mean that people weren't angry when this movie was released.

The film was widely criticized for its use of make-up to make a white actor appear African American, which many compared to blackface.

Members of the NAACP spoke out against the film and an African American student group at UCLA organized a picket of a cinema screening Soul Man.

NAACP Chapter President Willis Edwards said in a statement at the time, "We certainly believe it is possible to use humor to reveal the ridiculousness of racism. However the unhumorous and quite seriously made plot point of Soul Man is that no black student could be found in all of Los Angeles who was academically qualified for a scholarship geared to blacks."

Are you actually comparing a 1986 Hollywood comedy with the actions of a man who became Prime Minister and forgot how many times he dressed up in black face? Incredible

What year did he do it?

The point I’m making is that you judge people by the morals of their day, not the morals of today. It’s called historical perspective and a very basic tenet for historians.

Think anyone around here called their friends gay, fag, retard in the 80s and 90s?  I’m guessing yes. Should we shun them, fire them from their jobs and socially outcast them? My vote is no. But these are the things that kill the left. They became the new Puritans over the past decade.

Did you actually read these articles? There’s not a word about blank face being the issue. The criticism is the premise that there’s no black qualified students. That’s a totally different angle.

Admittedly I didn’t read the Sentinel article because it’s pay walled. Do you actually subscribe to the Sentinel or just posting links?

The guy isn't even PM anymore and people are still bringing up the blackface.

Hey conservatives, you won. You don't even have to fuck him anymore, as much as you wanted it as advertised on your bumber stickers and flags.

    So weird.

I do not want to fuck him. He is a handsome man, however.

Some Americans have bumper stickers and flags that say they want to fuck him? I agree, that is weird.

He initially did it (that we know) in high school, then as a counselor at a white water rafting camp. I actually give him a pass on those and wonder where the adults were (or did they not want to say no to the son of a former PM?).

The last instance we know of was in late 2001 when he was in his late 20s employed as a teacher at a prestigious private school. The photo above was taken at an Aladdin-themed school party.

When caught (he admits he hid it from everyone) he allowed that there could likely be more photos out there because he can’t remember all the times he did it.

He was also what could be called an enthusiast, colouring every exposed piece of skin.

It’s sickened me that for 6 years now my country has been represented by a man who has pictures of him in blackface while in a position of authority circulating. Most here have consistently excused it.

lol, this thread is so f'ing hostile.  wtf?

Anyone interested about current events, or whether out new prime minister is capable of helping with the current situation?  Will he stay PM for long?  Will the Liberals cap off an unexpected comeback?   Will the U.S. easy off tariff's and pressure to give PP a chance to win?   How do you all feel about being annexed?

Tell me about the cabinet. Size, role, responsibilities, history. Is it like the US? Is there a confirmation process? Does size matter?

So much of the world seems to be having difficulty dealing with a mad man. Not any mad man mind you.

This is a joke, a ploy on words that practically wrote itself.

The clown has left the building, replaced by a man named Carney.

I wondering when the "clown/carnie" jokes would start.

Figured I’d wait until it’s official.

Pledging to eliminate the consumer carbon tax without explaining how he’ll stop industry from passing the cost down to the end consumer feel a bit snake oily to me, lol.

I was just noticing that as well.  Hostile and mildly perverted at times.  I guess the pressure is getting everyone only in different ways.

I don't know the context of that pic so I can't comment on it. I can post pics too of him being dignified and caring. Not sure of your point.
It was him following the tradition of taking his seat from the House of Commons, something all MPs apparently do. But most aren’t photographed looking directly into the camera with such a childish display.

For him, in that moment it was just a room, not the House of Commons of the Canadian Parliament, I get it.

This is some pretty crazy bias showing, lol. Your reaction to that photo is extremely unreasonable. The tradition is not a deadpan one. I would say that when parliament has a better sense of humour than you do about something, it's time to reflect a little bit.

So many people have molded their identities around hating Trudeau, now that he's gone they're lost.

It's gonna take them awhile to figure out how to hate Carney to fill that hole inside of them.

My bet is they will settle around him being an elitist banker. His resume looks way to fancy up against PP's.

I love how every criticism simply shows my bias and has zero merit, and Justin Trudeau’s every action is justified or excused. I think that might show some crazy bias as well.

no, honestly, you have to look at the specific criticism. I had to to the same during trump's first term. I admittedly had pretty strong TDS at that time, then I started to ask myself if Obama/any other dem did that, would it bother me. The answer was usually yes, but sometimes no. I'm guessing you wouldn't care if Harper had done this. It would have "shown his lighter side".

I absolutely would have cared if Harper had done this. Believe it or not it’s not always about Justin except insofar as he makes it about himself. I wouldn’t be surprised if he did it exactly to draw a reaction because in that moment, in his head, it was just a room.

One of the only things I can give Dear Justin credit for is learning to keep his shirt on when he goes jogging, but I’m the asshole for considering that an embarrassment and beneath the office of the Prime Minister of Canada, I know.
