I can tell you that me and my small group of friends legitimately get tickets from f2f, trades, or someone who’s selling an extra and agrees to scan us in or share account info.

This happens at EVERY concert. Ever. Not just Pearl Jam. People sneak down there. It just happens. Or maybe I’m just used to Chicago crowds and it’s just normal to me. Doesn’t bother me at all. I think it’s silly how mad some people get. Like just enjoy your spot and have a good time. Sometimes you can get down there, sometimes you’re in the nosebleeds. How much fun you have is ultimately up to you. Worrying about what other people are doing to get GA is a waste of time.

It's not a question of whether or not that group has GA tickets.  I've had GA tickets many times, not difficult to get.
Exactly. Persistence does pay off. The hardest two (minus the scalping states) have been Seattle and Philly 1. Seattle was done from a trade when they dropped cove seats day of, and Philly was old fashioned scouring the boards and Facebook.

The problem is they are the first one yelling and screaming at you if you do anything that is not within the rules. They are hypocrites and do it so they can preserve their precious spot in front of Eddie.

    Psssssssst

(incredibly easy with the current system)

  • I'm not a rail rider, not for PJ or any band. For me, its the worst spot in the house for sound and overall appreciation of the show. JMO, cool if you wanna be on the rail and shake Ed's hand, get a pick from Mike, drink some wine, whatever. Also, I love to have a seat.

As for the stories of "bullying" and not welcoming new folks into the pit, of course there is always some douchebag, but based on what I've seen and been told from folks I trust, the majority of the bitching about not being welcome down front comes from the assholes who barrel into the area when the lights go down and shove their way to the front past folks who have literally waited hours for their spot. So yeah they get told off and pushed out.

I’ve seen this said here and on Facebook. The times that I have witnessed any kind of confrontation are usually cases like this example: Seattle 1 when a guy and his mom got in the line like two days early but then the mom said she was going to sleep in her hotel because “we all do anyway”. My back pain and lack of sleep can say otherwise.

We’re walked in single file before general doors and scanned individually. How are we going to bracelet share?
  • I'm sure there's some people sneaking into GA.... in hindsight, it could easily have been done at Fenway, but I don't think these are the same people who are camping out overnight to get on the rail.

To be honest I don't care much if people choose to line up early as I've done it a few times (with mixed results at getting rail). It can get unnecessarily stressful for new people, but in reality you can arrive at doors open for most shows and still be 6+ people back from center and as close as 2nd row on the sides.

GA lines help bring buzz, attracts crowds for mid-day merch buying, etc. Can't see them eliminating as much foot traffic around merch stands.

If anything, it'd be nice to see more consistency in how the band and venues operate GA - random number draw seems reasonable to prevent people from sitting in line all day. Or if they bring back floor seating, do half of the first 10 rows as a random draw.
  • What is this thread even. Pretty juvenile stuff  do what makes you happy as long as you don't hurt others. It's just sounds like some feel fomo . And some don't.
It's as simple as that  do it......  Or Don't.

I have only been in GA in NA twice. Nashville 22 and OKC 22. Nashville we were about 5 ft from the front  on Stone's side. With the exception of one woman who kept trying to push her way up it was pretty mellow. OKC I was about 8 ft from the front on Mike's side. As soon as the lights went down, numerous people pushed their way through. I guess the chance to get guitar picks is too much temptation.

The state of love and trust podcast interviewed two GA campers on their latest episode, and my experience in matches what they said for anyone is curious.

The rail is not entirely the same people. It’s a mix of about 10 who go to every show, another 10 who go to a lot of shows, and then another 10-15 1 or 2 show people.

The band can easily implement a GA entry lottery like other artists. Ed doesn’t shower me with stuff, but it’s clear his opinion differs from that of Chrissie Hynde.

Bottom line is, the majority of fans and the BAND would love more variety up front. That said, I'm good five people deep in front of Mike after pre-gaming on my own schedule and strolling in about 30 minutes before showtime.

I don’t think the band has indicated this anywhere but any fan is welcome to line up for GA as its first come first serve. My first GA was San Diego 22 and I didn’t know anyone and just got in line. It was really that simple, no one made me feel unwelcome because I was new.

The random numbers would benefit the group of fans in GA as a whole by giving everyone a shot at the rail.

Everyone currently has a shot at the rail.
