Correct I should have stated added new encampments surely they will need more for the 15 million they are planning on rounding up no?cincybearcat said:

When Obama took office her husband was unemployed and she had a factory job. Factory closed....she ended up taking a sales job (selling computers and other supplies to schools) and is still with them. Works from home and does pretty good.
Husband got a job at a plastics factory in western OH. He's been there for years now and seems to be doing pretty good.
Yet she lectured me the last time we talked about how "people are really struggling out there", etc. Like people aren't struggling all the time? I'm an elitist in her mind due to the size and location of my house.
Newsflash...when trump is in office people will still be struggling. There will still be layoffs and factories closing. Once big name restaurants/retail stores will close. It's the circle of life in a capitalist economy.

So - if large #'s of asylum seekers are coming to the US daily...you just want to continue the current immigration policy? If they weren't allowed in to begin with, there would be no rounding up and camps.....josevolution said:

Sanctuary Cities....what a dumb ass thing...lead straight to a Trump victory in the end.
It needs fixed. Path to citizenship needs to be far more clear. People need to be kept somewhere during the application process (for amnesty seekers, etc)....but shouldn't that be camps by the border? The time it takes to process all of this is ridiculous as well...avg what...200 days (i'd have to look it up again). Ridiculous.
In the end, the price of groceries and northern states finally feeling the burden of illegal immigration and the mass amount of asylum seekers won Trump this election. The Dems lost this election due to "sanctuary cities". While I am not a fan, Greg Abbott's move worked perfectly for him and his party.hippiemom = goodness0

When Elon cuts 2 trillion by eliminating all of the regulatory agencies, those cost savings can be passed on to the round up and deportations. I can't even begin to fathom the humans rights violations that will occur all over this country by emboldened military, ICE and CBP personnel tasked with the assignment. I'm sure they'll outsource to the private sector too. Going to be great!Bentleyspop said:

That would probably gain more traction if she didn't refer to him as the orange president in the first paragraph. Some might also point to this being from 2017 and it wasn't "that bad" in hindsight. This is interesting because is the reference that illegal immigrants are eventually going to slaughter us and take our land if we don't keep them out or is it the irony that when we immigrated here we weren't treated the way that Trump is threatening to treat current illegal immigrants by building walls to keep them out?seanwon said:

SHOW US YOUR PAPERS! Because, like you know, water boarding works. Tried and tested. Plus, it’s not torture. Letter From an American:
Trump has promised mass deportations, and much of his base is fervently behind them. The Republican National Committee even had signs saying “MASS DEPORTATION NOW” made up for attendees to wave at the party’s convention.
Priscilla Alvarez and Alayna Treene of CNN reported today that Trump’s allies have been preparing for mass detentions and deportations of undocumented immigrants, and the stock prices of private prison companies GEO Group and CoreCivic have soared since Trump’s election. Steven T. Dennis of Bloomberg reported that on an earnings call today, GEO chief executive officer Brian Evans told investors that filling currently empty beds could bring in $400 million a year and that the company can scale up its current surveillance, monitoring, and transportation programs to handle millions of immigrants. “This is to us an unprecedented opportunity,” he said.
But deporting up to 20 million people will be a logistical nightmare and is projected to cost from $88 billion to $315 billion a year. At the same time, much of the U.S. economy depends on undocumented immigrants, and Republican businessmen will certainly object to losing their workers.
Tom Homan, who served as acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement under Trump in his first term, backed away from some of the extremes of Trump’s immigration policy when he told CBS last month: “It’s not gonna be—a mass sweep of neighborhoods. It’s not gonna be building concentration camps. I’ve read it all. It’s ridiculous…. They’ll be targeted arrests. We’ll know who we’re going to arrest, where we’re most likely to find ‘em based on numerous, you know, investigative processes.”09/15/1998 & 09/16/1998, Mansfield, MA; 08/29/00 08/30/00, Mansfield, MA; 07/02/03, 07/03/03, Mansfield, MA; 09/28/04, 09/29/04, Boston, MA; 09/22/05, Halifax, NS; 05/24/06, 05/25/06, Boston, MA; 07/22/06, 07/23/06, Gorge, WA; 06/27/2008, Hartford; 06/28/08, 06/30/08, Mansfield; 08/18/2009, O2, London, UK; 10/30/09, 10/31/09, Philadelphia, PA; 05/15/10, Hartford, CT; 05/17/10, Boston, MA; 05/20/10, 05/21/10, NY, NY; 06/22/10, Dublin, IRE; 06/23/10, Northern Ireland; 09/03/11, 09/04/11, Alpine Valley, WI; 09/11/11, 09/12/11, Toronto, Ont; 09/14/11, Ottawa, Ont; 09/15/11, Hamilton, Ont; 07/02/2012, Prague, Czech Republic; 07/04/2012 & 07/05/2012, Berlin, Germany; 07/07/2012, Stockholm, Sweden; 09/30/2012, Missoula, MT; 07/16/2013, London, Ont; 07/19/2013, Chicago, IL; 10/15/2013 & 10/16/2013, Worcester, MA; 10/21/2013 & 10/22/2013, Philadelphia, PA; 10/25/2013, Hartford, CT; 11/29/2013, Portland, OR; 11/30/2013, Spokane, WA; 12/04/2013, Vancouver, BC; 12/06/2013, Seattle, WA; 10/03/2014, St. Louis. Why have laws if we aren't going to enforce them?
Housing is another issue. They will need affordable housing and that isn't readily available. We can't keep up with demand for people now so adding millions more per year isn't the best thing for that.
Deporting people is going to cost us a fortune. We can't do that right either. Locking certain people up will cost us even more money.
Has anyone came up with good ideas for any of this?0

I've not read any of this thread. I'm just thinking about what some people are apparently worried about, so have some thoughts and questions:Do Americans now really expect that millions of people will be deported and/or gathered up into some kind of holding facilities before they are shipped out? That seems like a pretty crazy idea... I'm wondering how realistic that is? I mean, if that happens, it is literally like Nazi Germany before WWII. Surely it can't come to that? If so ,what are American going to do about it? If not, wtf does Trump think he's going to do to meet expectation? I just don't understand what he actually intends to do.....With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0

I assume they would just deport as people are picked up for crimes, traffic violations, etc?
I've never been real clear on why we don't utilize the social security system for tracking. I can tell you that there is a network for obtaining social security numbers for Hispanics so that they can work. If the IRS sends the employer a notice saying "this SSN doesn't match the name" they just get a new SSN and that employee is "fired" and the rehired with a different name and SSN.
No idea why there is no targeting there but as of now there hasn't been and that includes when trump was president.
A theory has been that the gov't figures the social security/medicare tax being paid under those SSNs will never be collected so maybe they just let it go?Remember the Thomas Nine !! (10/02/2018)

Not really, but the person who was just elected definitely will not fix any of that. The only laws the incoming admin wants to enforce are those on illegal immigrants, which yes, needs to be cleaned up and would have been to some degree with the border bill, but yet the thinking seems to be rules for thee, not for me.tempo_n_groove said:Why have laws if we aren't going to enforce them?

Government corruption and throwing the emolulements clause out the window will work great though. Slimy fuckers will be tripping over each other to try and win favor so they can enrich themselves the next 4 years, and longer if certain protections are stripped or rolled back.
I predict that people still won't care, the sycophants will continue to bend the knee and all will be explained away, unless the few dems left in power are subject to an accusation, then it will matter.

if you can’t see the big difference there, don’t know what to tell you. The over sensationalizing of things like this has gotten out of control.

Can we stop comparing finding and removing people that entered a country illegally to Nazi germany please.PJ_Soul said:I've not read any of this thread. I just don't understand what he actually intends to do.....
if you can’t see the big difference there, don’t know what to tell you. The over sensationalizing of things like this has gotten out of control.
Now - if this operation involves rounding up Hispanics regardless of status …. Well then, you have made a good comparison.
I realize that Hispanics likely make up the majority of the "illegals" but the random white guy walking down the street could be an illegal from Canada, Russia, 40 other countries, etc.Remember the Thomas Nine !! (10/02/2018)

Here in NYC I know a lot of people who are here illegally from England, Ireland, and Canada. I know two people who got deported back to Ireland. But most have been here for years and years and no one bothers them.Gern Blansten said:
