Tonight's debate is proving that Trump is the clear obstacle to civil political debates. These 2 are being much nicer and acknowledging commonality as people more then we've seen combined in any debate involving Trump. Too bad the ACA can't prevent the Trump disease polluting our country.
I’ve been struck by the civility.
Yeah I think jd took good advice and didn't come out as trump's attack dog.

Vance knew he needed to come across as human so he adjusted, where as Walz is who he is all the time. Vance plays to the crowd and is a snake in the grass.

I don’t like how the polls look. I don’t like how any of this feels. It feels too much like 2016: a campaign in disarray, polls showing the Dem candidate comfortably ahead. Look how that turned out.
Harris should be up by ten points across the board after that debate. Nothing moves the needle at this point.
Frankly I’d like coverage of polls to go away. Last night, buried in/by the Eric Adams story, was a poll showing T—-p up by ten points in AZ. I’m of the opinion that AZ is chock full of crazy, but wtf??

Nope. It’s no sleep ‘til Brooklyn for me. I have a child who, literally, will not survive four more years of that asshole. And I take the Constitution and democracy and freedom and all that way too seriously to relax right now. I was full of optimism in 2016, believing 538.com and stories about the T—-p campaign in disarray because it felt good. Not anymore, not for me.

Totally agree.  The word "slick" crossed my mind a number of times.  A dangerous animal, if you ask me.

Exactly.  No rest for the weary this time, that for darned sure. And I think Harris and Walz are probably well aware of that.

Pretty much dead even on "who won".  Republicans said Vance won, D's to Walz.  Unaffiliated broke slightly to Walz, but probably not statistically significant.  I think what we can see is that it is Trump who is creating the coarseness of the debate and the anger in this country.  I think the civility of these exchanges is yet more evidence of what we already knew.  JFC, let's get him out of the public eye once and for all.

It was like a typical "without Trump" debate. I got bored and watched baseball instead.

Didn't Walz say that immigration numbers are below Trump's numbers now? And that isn't true.

It is true that they are lower than Trump's last months in office. I just read it somewhere the other day. Probably in WAPO.
